TALKING TO THE MOON.
[ 03. CHAPTER THREE ]
❝ THE MOON AND THE STARS ❞

There are over millions and millions of stars scattered all across the universe in a magnificent chaotic masterpiece that caught the eyes of many souls yet her eyes were on him. And he shined brighter than all of the stars combined.

A few yards away from her was where Lance stood with a striking yet unfamiliar white and blue uniform. It was clear, even from the distance between them, he had changed. From his new attire to the slight aging in his face. His hair had gotten longer as well and still after all this time it remained a ruffled mess that Selena loved so much. It wasn't until her tear filled gaze had reached his memorizing ocean eyes did she finally break letting the tears stream down her face. Those eyes that were once filled with joy looked so lonely, so tired. But as they stared into hers they sparkled with such admiration and wonderment and it was all for her.

Selena couldn't move and she could hardly breathe as she continued to stare at the boy she had been searching for two years. She had finally found him and he was safe. All she could do was let out whimpered sobs as he smiled tenderly at her. Everything seemed too good to be true.

Selena noticed he had grown taller as well, however, he stood straighter than before almost like a soldier or knight in shining armor. No, he stood like a hero. Her hero. The helmet that he held against his side was carefully placed onto the ground, his smile and glimmering eyes never wavering.

It was then he opened up his long muscular arms and raised a teasing eyebrow did he speak to her for the first time in two years, "Did ya miss me, Moon Princess?" The sound of his slightly deeper voice caused Selena's heart to shatter and her knees to go weak. God, did she miss the sound of his voice.

Despite practically shaking like a leaf in the wind Selena mustered all the strength she could and ran straight into Lance's arms. She collided with him hard and almost pushed him off balance but he quickly regained his footing and wrapped his arms tightly around her waist. Pulling her against his chest till there was no space between them Lance snuggled his face into her shoulder. While Selena rested hers in his. She breathed heavily trying to calm down her sobbing but to no avail the small girl continued to violently quiver and cry her heart out. Lance was safe and he was in her arms. The amount of joy she felt had shook her to the core. Lance was here with her. Selena almost couldn't believe it.

"L-Lance," his name fell from her lips in a broken whisper, hitting Lance with grief. Soon enough tears began to spill down his cheeks and his hold on her tighten immensely. "God, I missed you so much. I can't believe I found you after all this time."

A shaky breath escaped Lance's lips as he raised his head from the crook of her neck to press a firm kiss on her forehead. He stayed there for awhile with his tear filled eyes closed, completely savoring the moment he had dreamed about for years. A few seconds past and Lance removed his soft lips from her and opened his eyes to gaze upon the face he so dearly missed. Tears still poured from both their eyes that were filled with so much emotion it was difficult to bare.

"I missed you so much, Selena. Everyday I thought of you. Your touch, your smile, your eyes, everything. I couldn't get you out of my head," Lance spoke so softly and sweet, it made Selena completely melt in his arms.

Sniffling, Selena brought one of her shaking hands up to his face to caress his cheek gently while the other was tenderly stroking the back of his neck. Lance couldn't help but press his cheek against her small hand and let out a content sigh. God, did he miss her touch. Gazing up into his benevolent eyes Selena spoke up, "Why did you leave me, Lance? I was so devastated and heartbroken when you were gone. I couldn't eat or sleep. I never stopped looking for you."

There was a shift of sorrow and anguish Selena saw in his eyes as she let her pained words flow in the air between them. Letting out a breathless sigh Lance leaned into her and rested his forehead against hers.

"I'm so sorry, Selena," Lance began, his voice was shaky and started to crack. "I— You shouldn't have had to deal with all of that. You shouldn't have looked for me. God, I'm so sorry I took two years of your life away. You're the one thing I care about in the entire universe and I caused you so much pain. I didn't mean to, I swear. I— I am so sorry, princesa. But I'm here now. I got you. And I will never let you go."

Pulling away from him, Selena saw the utter desolation held in his face. Clearly, he was torn apart and so was she. And it was all because of each other's misery. A small heartfelt smile made its way onto Selena's lips as she stroked Lance's soft cheek all the while brushing back his messy long brown hair with her other hand in affectionate strokes. Simply taking this time to bask in his very being. From his astonishing ocean eyes to the dips and curves of his breathtaking face. When Selena looked at Lance she saw the stars. He was so gorgeous and bright she swore she'd go blind. But she wouldn't mind because he was Lance and he was her everything. Her little Star Boy.

Bringing his head closer to her Selena placed a tender kiss on his tear stained cheek and murmured lovingly, "Te amo con todo mi corazón."

Lance couldn't help the grin spreading across his face, "Te amo tanto que incluso puedo soñar contigo todas las noches. Tú eres mi sueño hecho realidad, mi amor verdadero, el único de mi vida."

If it was even possible Selena started to cry even more, however, there was a smile now present on her face that would stay there forever. Because she had her best friend back and in that very moment everything was perfect.

From there on out, no matter what would happen, she knew for certain that whatever the distance that came between them they'd always find each other because not even an entire galaxy could keep them apart. For she was his moon in the darkness and he was her stars in the void.
