CHAPTER ONE.
TALKING TO THE MOON.
[ 01. CHAPTER ONE ]
❝ IN A BLINK OF AN EYE ❞
There's a moment in one person's life where in a blink of an eye things can change miraculously whether it be looking away from the road to check a text that results in a car crash or tripping on a ledge they didn't see ahead because they looked up at the sky. These changes can be life threatening or embarrassing. For Selena it was the former. One minute she was talking to Apollo who guided her through piloting her ship through space the next she was being taken away and chained in metal cuffs by a tall and muscular purple cat like creature with beady yellow eyes.
The creature, who she later learned was an alien who was part of a race called the Galra Empire, had taken her hostage and thrown her in a sealed off cell. Selena had spent only a few days in the vacant cold prison with uncomfortable metal shackles that dug into her wrists and ankles. In that little time she had gained cuts and bruises that littered her delicate skin due to the harsh conditions and neglect. The ones known as the Galra hadn't visited her cell since they placed her in there. She was starving, dehydrated, exhausted, and alone.
Her once bronze skin was now a sickening pale with dark purple circles under her eyes. The softness of her skin had faded away to a dry roughness along with her lips that began to crack. Selena couldn't tell if she looked thinner or not but she did feel lighter and frail. Maybe it was all in her head but that didn't stop her from felling awful. Her entire body ached and groaned for food and water. Or at least a decent amount of sleep. It was the dreadful fear of what the Galra would eventually do to her and the uncomfortable ground that stripped away her ability to sleep. Most days she'd only get what she assumed was a few hours. She'd eventually wake up due to her stabbing back pains or the loud grumble of her stomach.
In the back of her mind Selena knew this would be the end of her search for Lance. This was the place where she would meet her demise. Fear had quickly consumed her. She was going to die all alone and no one would know what happened to her. The thought of not seeing Lance ever again caused a sob to shake through her entire body. In the back corner of her cell she clung to herself as she shook with grief. The poor girl was completely terrified. She didn't even get to say goodbye to Lance.
Tears continued to fall down her face until Selena felt tired, the crying taking all the energy away from her. Just as she was about to fall asleep against the grey metal wall the door to her cell opened with a loud scraping noise causing her to flinch and her eyes to open wide. Her red puffy gaze was met with one of the Galra soldiers, the first she's seen since she was captured days ago. He was much larger than the pervious and more horrifying especially with the bulky blaster gun held firmly in his hands.
"Get up," his loud gruff voice boomed in the walls of her cell causing her to jump.
With fear taking over her body Selena chose to speak instead. "W-Where are you taking me? Can I have some water? Please, I haven't had any in days," the blue eyed girl pleaded practically on her knees with a fresh set of tears streaming down her face. It was strange to hear her voice again. She hadn't spoken in days and frankly she could tell. It was scratchy and hoarse almost like she had a serious cold. God, her throat was so dry. It hurt to breathe.
"I said get up and start walking," the Galra soldier ordered, louder and impatient than before.
As soon as his grip on the weapon tightened Selena was quick on her feet fearing that he would use it on her if she didn't listen. Slowly, the cuban girl walked out of her cell, the soldier right behind her pushing her along the empty corridors of the ship with his blaster. Selena made sure not to make a sound or to breath too hard. She feared it might upset him and then he'd fire off his weapon at her.
They continued to walk for quite some time until they entered what seemed to be a hangar where they kept all their smaller spacecrafts. What were they doing here? Were they going to send her somewhere else? Still afraid to speak Selena kept on walking in silence with nothing but the heavy footsteps of the soldier and his grunts accompanying her.
Minutes later they had arrived in front of a small ship the size of two school buses. It was pure black with glowing purple accents. Apparently the only two colors that represented the Galra Empire. Selena didn't know if she'd ever like the color purple again.
Upon entering the ship Selena was shocked to see who was present inside and it wasn't because of the three colorful female aliens, it was because of the human.
"Mr. Holt?"
As soon the the name of the old man left her chapped lips one of the three female aliens smirked in satisfaction. "Guess you were right, Exugo. One of your little human prisoners knows who he his. Isolate her, she can be a valuable asset to us."
Before Selena could get a word in and ask what was going on the end of the Galra soldier's blaster struck her hard in the back of the head causing her to be knocked out cold. And yet again in a blink of an eye the world around her completely changed. Leaving her in a pit of darkness.
