Chapter 12

June 20th, 900

I'm the youngest Goddess to be crowned and it is such a great honor. Ever since I was a young child, my parents have always spoken great things about my future. Now here I am, just four days after my eighteenth birthday, fulfilling every dream they had for me. I always knew I was different and now I get to explore those depths more. I will not let anyone stop me from being the greatest.

Goddess of the Moon

"Hey what was that thing you did last week? How were you able to carry your voice with the wind?" Dion turned his head and watched as a wide smile spread across her face, her sharp teeth glistening in the moonlight.

It was one in the morning and Azaria and Dion had both managed to sneak away thirty minutes after the meeting was over. He had been excited to see her again. They immediately embraced when they saw each other.

The duo found their favorite boulder and climbed upon it talking about anything they could think of.

"Okay promise you won't freak?" She sat up as excitement covered her pale face. Dion gave her a slight nod; an encouragement for her to explain.

"I think I'm a part of the rare breed that can control the elements. At first, I only had the ability of mental compulsion, but after my 16th birthday, I noticed small changes."

He nodded in understanding, a part of his Beta training was to learn the basics of the other species. Vampires couldn't be killed with a simple steak to the heart, garlic is not a weakness, the whole cross situation is a myth, and they can walk in broad daylight. They don't have to die to become a vampire; many are born and very few are turned.

"Whenever the wind would blow it felt like it was flowing through me and not on me. So one day I decided to test it out and I've learned to control the wind. Just barely though."

The excitement on her face made her look so carefree. He wanted to keep that look on her face no matter what.

"My parents don't even know about this. I want to understand it first before I tell them anything."

He jumped off the boulder holding his hand out for her to grab. Once her hand was in his he tugged hard enough to pull her forward. Azaria planted her right foot on the boulder and pushed off, aiding Dion in his attempt to get her up. The momentum propelling Azaria into his arms.

Dion stumbled back slightly but quickly regained his footing, wrapping his arms around her waist to hold her steady. Her arms quickly wound around his neck to brace herself against the fall. He felt the low hum of energy flow through his body with her so close.

Their eyes locked, drawing in the other. If he looked hard enough he could see flecks of the crystal blue color they used to be, swimming in the sea of grey. She was truly the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. Even his wolf agreed.

Azaria gently cleared her throat sliding from his embrace. The loss of contact made him feel slightly empty but he ignored it.

"I've been practicing a little when I can. I just taught myself how to carry my voice not too long ago." She clarified.

Dion looked down at her in amazement. She was truly remarkable.

"Do you suspect you can manipulate the other elements?" He asked curiously, he thought of different ways they can work together to strengthen her powers. He wanted to spend as much time with her as he could.

Azaria shrugged her shoulders, not really certain.

"In all honesty, I haven't tried to figure that out. I just focused on air most of the time."

"Maybe we can work on the others every time we meet up?" he suggested. His wolf puffed its chest out with pride at the excitement in her eyes.

"That would be amazing. How cool would it be if I'm like the Goddess and control them all?"

Dion couldn't help the smile that spread across his face as there was a twinkle in her eye. He took another step back giving them a little more space.

"Show me what you got." Dion held his arms out with a wide grin on his face.

"What are you doing?" Azaria giggled.

"We're practicing of course. Show me what you've gotten down so far with the wind element." He grinned. The bright smile that covered Azaria's face made his heart race once again.

Dion watched as Azaria took a deep breath before closing her eyes. At first, he didn't see anything happening, but then he felt a strong gust of wind blowing past him.

It wrapped around him like a miniature tornado ruffling his clothes.

Azaria opened her eyes, concentrating more on where he stood. The wind soon blew a light breeze past his face.

"Hi, handsome." Dion stared at her with wide eyes, it was her voice, yet she never moved her lips. Was that how she did it? Barely whisper her words then let the wind carry it to its destination.

"Holy fuck this is cool." He couldn't keep the smile from his face.

"Be still, I want to try something. I'm going to push this to the max." She said out loud. Dion nodded his head and waited for whatever she had in store. Hopefully, it wouldn't hurt. He watched as her brows bunched together and her fists balled at her side. She was trying to concentrate really hard on whatever she was trying to do.

After about a minute Dion soon felt his feet being lifted from the ground. He stared down at his feet and he only made it to his tiptoes before falling back down.

"Holy fuck!" He shouted excitedly, only to see Azaria collapsing seconds later. With his inhuman speed, he rushed over and caught her before she could hit the ground.

"Shit, Ari!" Panic began to set in as he laid her gently on the ground checking for a pulse. It was there but it was faint. She had used too much energy and passed out.

Dion didn't know what to do, but he couldn't just waltz up to their front door at 2 in the morning with Azaria passed out. He wanted to stay by her side and watch over her, but he couldn't do that out in the woods. He couldn't take her back to his house because his dad always chose random times between 3 and 5 every morning to do training.

Taking a deep breath Dion lifted Azaria in his arms and used his speed to get her back to her house. He managed to mask his scent so no one would know he was there. Dion looked around and noticed the tree that sat in their backyard had grown some. He knew he could climb it with her on his shoulder, it was just a matter of getting her through the window without making too much noise.

It was already open so there was a plus to the whole thing. Dion looked down at a sleeping Azaria and placed a light kiss on her forehead before flinging her over his shoulder and beginning his climb up the tree.
