These are the ways I create the bond between the characters and the readers:
-make the main character relatable to a particular audience.
-create a fun and happy atmosphere with the characters and bam! Sadness.
-get the most funny, happy, cute character and kill them off to make the readers feel heartbroken.

I swear I'm not sadistic.
