Some school
I woke up and stretched. I yawned then I remembered, oh yeah, I'm cousins with Cynth and I'm the last hope of this world. I should probably get ready for my lessons on how to kill the evil king. I noticed Luna wasn't there and that the sun's rays were coming in through the tent flap. I walked outside and went to wash up in the river, I brought the clothes that had been left outside my tent. I guess they were for my training. After I finished, I went to the kitchen and grabbed a pastry.
I ate it as I tried to figure out where I was going to have my lessons. I glanced up at the clock and realised it was already 9:51! I silently cursed and got up. As I was walking and searching for my teacher, I ran into Miliscent. I apologised to her quickly. She looked a bit miffed but replied, "It's alright, dear, you seem a bit lost."
"You wouldn't happen to know where Sheila will be teaching me to fight, would you Miss Miliscent?" I nervously asked.
"Well, we have some unfortunate news. Miss Hart will not be able to teach you today, she had been injured in her attempt to stop a brawl earlier, she is currently resting up in the infirmary. In the mean time, I will be teaching you how to shoot an arrow precisely enough to hit Channe's eye from one town over," she said with a slight smile.
I grinned and walked with her past what I assumed was the archery range. It wasn't much, just a half dozen targets, each at varying distances. A few miles east of it, we arrived in front of a simple wooden shed. She opened it and told me, "Pick your bow, now. We have short bows, long bows, and crossbows. Each type has its own advantages, though crossbows are a tad harder to master. They are all made of durable wood such as Yewry, Ignise, and Bluebark."
I nod and poke my head in. I look around the many choices before grabbing the first one that catches my eye. It was only about 3 feet and its wood gleamed silver. Noticing my choice, Miliscent nods with approval and comments, "Ah, a Mistwood Shortbow, excellent choice. Shortbows allow you to fire faster, you also won't have to apply as much force as when using longbows. Though, it's not as great at long-distance shooting."
We walked back towards the archery range and she proceeded to teach me. Before she taught me anything, she insisted that I do some laps first, she mentioned something about, "Just because you won't be fighting hand to hand, doesn't mean you shouldn't be fit."
That day, I didn't learn much, except how to notch an arrow, the proper stance for shooting at an unmoving short distance target, and how to properly pull back an arrow. Why? Because she had insisted I do everything again, and again, and again, until I perfected it. We walked back to the central building once she said I was done for the day.
I looked at the clock and realised it was already twelve o'clock! I took a dip in the river because I was really sweaty from running all the laps and being in the two suns of Theri for hours, and changed in to the t-shirt and jeans I had been wearing when I first came here. I don't know who washed them, but I found them on the bed in my tent, as clean as possible. I went to the food hall to get some food before my magic lesson with Cynth started.
Once I entered I saw Aine and Wilde sitting at one of the tables. I got my lunch and sat with them just as Aine was saying, "For an old dragon who falls asleep so easily, he sure flies fast,"
I chuckle and ask, "I'm assuming you're talking about your new teacher?"
She replies, "Yeah, way better than normal school, huh?"
I giggle in response, "Sure is."
"Do you have anymore lessons after this?" I ask.
Aine answers, "Yeah, I have to practice my fire breathing. Apparently the old dragon hoarded Yanjian flowers, so I don't need to worry about running out."
I smirked, "No excuses for when I want you to burn Wilde, then."
She nodded with a mischievous grin and Wilde looked up to the ceiling and muttered, "Hecate, Della, Dorsio, whoever's up there, help me!"
I snickered at his reaction. I started eating my lunch, which was pasta with stroganoff, yum! My two friends started gossiping about some poor old rebel named Lily who's gone batty. Wait, did I just call Wilde my friend? Hmmm....well, he may be annoying but he's not that bad. (NEVER tell him I said that)
We finished eating and I headed to Cynth's office. Aine went to her lessons and Wilde went to research something in the library. I was kind of surprised someone like him would actually read voluntarily but I didn't comment. I reached her office and knocked on the door.
Cynth opened the door and smiled before ushering me inside. "Well then, first I would like to teach you basic magic such as lifting objects and moving them using magic. Later on. you will specialize in an element, as all do. Personally, I'm an air elementalist."
I whispered to myself as my cousin continued, "Some school."
