Dwarves can be mean

After I had finished reading I walked over to Aine and asked, "It's already been fifteen minutes, do you think they're done?"

She put the book she was reading back and said,"Only one way to find out."

We navigated our way through the bookshelves to the war-planning area. We walked in to a girl saying,"Ok, so since they outnumber us and have better weapons, we should try a guerilla tactic as we know the terrain well."

Cynth replied,"Correct, Deputy Commander Astoria, you truly are a prodigy to know this much at seventeen."

The girl, whose name was apparently Astoria, humbly thanked Cynth. She acted like it was nothing but I knew it meant a lot to her by the way her green eyes sparkled. I whispered to Aine,"What's a Deputy Commander?"

She whispered back,"There are two Deputy Commanders and the older one is the one in charge when the commander is gone. If the older one is gone as well then the younger one is in charge."

"Oh," was all I said.

Cynth noticed us and said,"Oh, my apologies for ignoring you earlier. This meeting is adjourned. Astoria, kindly show our guests to their tents."

"Yes, Commander Cynth," was Astoria's reply.

We went out of the library and walked down the hallway, we turned a couple of times until we reached the exit doors. We went outside and Astoria led us to the tent area. She pointed to two nearby tents and she spoke,"This is one of the nearest to the central and most protected area in the camp, it is where you'll be staying. You'll each have your own tent. Matagot is already inside your tent. If you're hungry just ask someone for directions to the kitchen, eat anything you like in there."

I replied,"Thanks for your help Astoria, I just have one question, is there any way of finding out who my father is?"

"You are most welcome Ashlyn, I only read of one way, to find an expert seer and give him a drop of your blood. He will be able to determine who your father is. This will be quite hard, though, as all the seers have gone into hiding. The library might contain another way," she answered.

"Ok, thanks again," I said.

"It is no problem," she said and then left.

I entered the tent and looked around. The tent itself was blue and quite larger than usual tents, I could stand up straight in there. The only things it contained was a single bed with lavender sheets and a nightstand with a lantern on it. Luna was already curled up at the foot of the bed. She must have been exhausted. I lay down the bed intending to rest for a few minutes only, but after a while, my breathing slowed and I gave into my exhaustion.

I woke up to a dwarf pulling my hair while yelling profanities. I shrieked, "What are you doing, you little squirt!"

"Yer a trespasser ye er! Git outta the rebel's 'amp!" it yelled on the top of its little lungs.

Our yelling must have woken up all the Celestial Rebels in the area. Luna tried to help me get the little thing off but the more I thrashed around the firmer it held onto my hair.

Astoria and Aine burst into my tent. Aine bared here teeth at the dwarf as Astoria ordered the dwarf,"Let go of our esteemed guest this instant Yarokoqa the third!"

"But she's a trespassin'!" it protested.

"She is not, we merely forgot to inform you of her stay in the rush to prepare everything for the attack," she calmly responded.

The grumpy dwarf let go of my hair and said,"Alright 'en missy, she ain't gettin' harmed, but it was yer fault fer not tellin' Yarokoqa the third!"

It left the tent grumbling. I stared after it and said,"What just happened?"

Astoria said,"The dwarfs are tasked with keeping trespassers out and we forgot to inform them of your stay, our apologies."

"It's alright, it just sort of seemed to hate me," I said.

Luna spoke up,"Don't mind it mistress Ashlyn, dwarves can be mean!"
