Not Him
Euno was acting quite off since his last visit to his grandparents, he seemed silent and not acting like his usual self. He simply woke up, trained, eat and repeat. Hinata and Katsu noticed this after awhile and grew worried. Hinata tried to get her son to open up to her on why he wasn't his usual self. Sadly he only responded with that he was alright. Though the moment that Euno stopped his favorite pass times is when Katsu stepped in. After dinner that day, Katsu ask Euno what was wrong while Carmine and Hinata went to train a bit more before the boys were sent to bed.
"Euno, are you alright? You aren't the type to simply stop picking or doing repair." Katsu paused for a moment before he asked the real question that was on his mind. "Did Shin Mao say something to you? Did his words hurt you?" Katsu kneeled down to Euno level and places a hand on the boy's shoulder "Please allow to help you dispel the pain that has befallen you. I know I am not your blood father but-"
"I AM NOT MY FATHER! WHY DOES HE KEEP REMINDING ME OF HIM!! I AM NOT EVIL! I...I...I'm not a...a..villian" The boy's outburst of rage began a sobbing mess.
Katsu hugged Euno, allowing him to cry as long as he needed to before he continued talking. Katsu never seen Euno so broken like this. The boy rarely cried or was upset easily either, though there was one who never failed to hurt the boy's heart. Shin Mao, his grandfather never fully trusted the boy due to his father and his profession. Fabron never received the same treatment even if he was also the son of Rufus and yet he wasn't treated like a criminal. Euno appear did resemble his father's in some ways since boy did pick up a few his father had habits. Despite how many times Euno proved he would never be like his father, Shin Mao always compared him to Rufus.
"You aren't him, you'll never him. You are nothing like Rufus. You a kind soul that may have a few habits that many dislike, though it is what makes you the hero you are. Shin Mao may only see you as a copycat as your father though I see you as a great hero in the making. Please do not change who you are because someone dislike your personality. Love yourself the way you are" He hugged Euno for a few more moments before parting to wipe the boy's tears away.
Euno seemed to have calmed down and slowly nodded. Katsu was right, Rufus may be a con man but Euno was not him. Though they shared blood, he never was a part of Euno left. Therefore, Euno would never be like him ever. A vow he would stay true to. Sure, he pickpocket but it was only ever candies or sweets, never money. He would never steal money from those who needed it and survived off it. Euno certainly knew better being a part of a family of heroes.
After a few days, Euno went to visit his grandparents as well as check up on Fabron who was still hibernating there. Before he enters the home as if he could sense it, his eyes noticed his grandfather's aerovan. Upon a closer inspection, he could see it was experiencing some engine trouble and could use a serious tune up. Euno always carried a toolbox on him so why not do his grandfather a favor. He worked on the vehicle for a good three hours before it was as new as the day Shin Mao had purchased it. Euno smiled at his work before turning to see Shin Mao himself lining over him as if he were a shadow. He was not pleased.
"I believe I told you never to touch my van, young man. Though just like your father, you don't listen to others and just do whatever it is you want. Just like you-" This time Euno didn't give Shin Mao a chance to belittle him this time.
This time Shin Mao would listened and know who Euno really was.
"Gramps, I just fixed your van that would have cost you a few hundred dollars to repair. Instead of you thanking me, you chose to compare me to Rufus as well as label me as a con man even though I am just five! You can get mad when I do something bad or something good but never think I will be the person that left my mom to die like that. So instead of judging me by my dad, why don't you actually get to know me" Euno left Shin Mao to ponder his words for a spell.
He said what needed to be said and now he was going to see his little brother. One thing was clear, he made his point. Whether Shin Mao actually listen or not didn't matter because Euno was proud of who he was. Now nothing would ever changed that again , not words or actions.
