The cold breeze brushed against the bright autumn leaves of the maple trees of the moonlit evening. The moon just a crescent on this starry night. Though tonight is a special night for children all around, one where they dressed in costumes of their choice. To show off the outfits to acquire sweets and goodies. All in one night where even villains did no crime. A special event where certain kittens were preparing for without wasting a single moment.

Akemi and Aura prepared themselves to go out, both always compete to see which one of them would earn the most candy that night. Akemi was polishing his knight costume to look presentable as most knight do. He had a silver knight armor which his mother had helped make him. Underneath was a long shelved shirt so he wouldn't be too cold that evening. He used his father old iron shield which was still in pretty good condition. As for Aura, she was putting the finishing touch on princess dress. A soft blue bell dress with frilly shelves. She wore a blue bell flower crown.

"Think you'll get more candy than me, your majesty?" Akemi jokes as he put on his armor chest plate on top of his blue shelved shirt.

"Like you can get more candy than me, my dear brother?" Aura looked in the mirror, carefully placing the flowers on her head to look absolutely stunning.

"Did you forget who won for the last three years? I may be getting older but I am the one who always wins the most candy. Though I don't think this year will be anymore different." He snickered.

Aura growled a bit. There was no way she would lose the candy competition this year. After all she had the perfect plan to finally dethrone her brother ego.

"Oh we'll see. Anyway if you're done bragging, we have to meet up with our cousins. Mom and Dad are going to a Halloween party for heroes that honors all the hard work they do. So I think either Uncle Mao or Grandpa is taking us." She picked up her trick or treat bag and head towards the door.

"Ugggh! Both of them are great and all, but they always are too protective. Last year they took us home early because they didn't like the neighborhood we going to next. Just because villians mainly live there did not mean the candy they were giving would be poisonous" He sighed frustrated , grabbing his bag.

While outside, Mao Mao was holding his youngest niece Lynelle who was dressed up like him. He was so touched that she looked up to him so much to be him for Halloween. Shiori made the costume to look exactly like his hero clothes down to the smallest detail.

"You ready to get candy little angelic hero?" He asked as he tickled her tummy

Lynelle giggled.

"Son, please try not to get her too excited. She still needs to take her nap later." Shin Mao was helping Chiyo fix her witch's cloak. He tried to hide his jealousy about Lynelle choosing to be Mao Mao for Halloween.

"Okay father" Mao Mao calmed down Lynelle

Chiyo wore a scarlet witch cloak and a scarlet witch hat with a black star on the top of the hat. Bakula was dressed as Dracula wearing a red vampiric dress with a special brooch that Akemi crafted for her the week before. Both brought a large bag for the candy they would share that night.

"CANDY!" Chiyo jumped in excitement , ready to get sugary treats which she would eat almost immediately once she returned home.

"You're only gonna eat a piece a day. We are not having another sugar rush fiasco like last year" Bakula crossed her arms, recalling the memory.

Aura and Akemi arrived a few moments later, both looking forward to tonight candy off. Akemi was a bit surprised to see Lynelle as Mao Mao since she was supposed to be a cute little angel this year. He shrugged it off though, he thought it wasn't such a big deal.

"Aura, Akemi, you two look so grand! A knight devoted to protecting his dear princess sister. It truly brings a tear to my eye" Mao Mao sniffles before regaining his composure.

"Now let us go get Buster and the others, so you kittens can get your candy for the night. Then as we do every Halloween, we will tell scary stories and the winner gets to pick the movie they would watch before bed" Shin Mao spoke, taking Lynelle in his arms as he lead the kittens to Minori house.

Buster was waiting outside the door. He was wearing his father sash, fixing it to fit more comfortable. The cold breeze was bothering him so he used his fire breathing to keep himself warm. Before he decided to back out of Halloween this year, a red cape was wrapped over him. He looked up to see it was his grandfather, Shin Mao.

"Wear this. It should help with the cold" Shin Mao tied the cape around Buster to make into a makeshift cloak.

"....Thanks, not that I needed it" The hybrid turned away, showing his tough side.

Shin Mao chuckled as he pat the small kitten head "You honor your father as you dress as him on this night, he be proud" He smirked and began to make way to Hinata house.

Buster wouldn't admit it but as old and tattered the cloak was it was quite warm.  It didn't really clash with his costume either. Though he wouldn't meet his grandfather in the eye, he still was a bit bitter about what he said to him a few months ago. Yet he followed for Lynelle sake.

"Dragonic warrior in the house!" Akemi smiled giving his cousin a high five.

"Oh great, the so called "Candy Champion" is here. Also if your bragging annoys me even in the slightest, I will burn your candy" He warns, walking ahead of the group

Aura and the twins couldn't help laugh at that.

In Hinata house, the three boys were waiting patiently for their uncle and grandfather to come and get them for trick or treating. Carmine always loved Halloween, for it the the only day of the year he could cause mischief with his powers without getting scolded. Carmine smiles as he polished his toy scythe to shine brightly. He chose the Reaper to be his costume for this year, not to be too scary for youngest cousin. As for Euno, he was Robin Hood. Euno really loved the story since Robin Hood and it would it wasn't really a surprise that he chose him as a costume. Fabron was just a cowboy this year, though it was Hinata choice for him since he was still too young to pick his own.

Euno was thinking about which kids he could pickpocket on their usual trick or treat route. He always takes candies from other kids but only a piece so no one notices. He wondered how many candies he would pickpocket this year. Last year he managed twenty pieces of candies, maybe he could get double this year.

Fabron fell asleep while he was waiting to get picked up. He was sleeping on Carmine lap, curled up in Carmine tail. He nuzzles closely in Carmine tail fur as if it were a nice warm fleece blanket. He dreamed of getting more candy this year.

"I can't wait to scare the innocents this night. Oh how wonderful their fear will taste. I may snack in a soul this year" Carmine grin grew as he thought of how he would scare others on this night.

"Again...really? Carmine, how about you limit yourself a bit this year. Please for Fabron sake" Euno sighs

"Fine, I will only scare this year. Though next year will be different. That's a promise" Carmine eyes glew a bit

There was a knock at the door. Euno answered it to see it was his uncle and grandpa. This was the first time that the two of them were taking them trick or treating this year.

"Hey Unc Mao! Gramps!" Euno greeted them

" Robin Hood? Isn't he a thief? Euno really? " Shin Mao clearly didn't approve of his costume

Euno didn't seem too bothered by this though. "He steals from the villian rich and gives to the poor. A hero in my eyes"

Mao Mao scooped up Fabron in his arms, glaring at his father for criticizing his own nephew costume choice. His words to the kittens were harsh enough and he had to stop bringing up Euno father. Euno would never be like Rufus! He would be a far better man than that con man. When will his father learn. Though Euno was never affected too much by these words. Mao Mao would tell Hinata about this once she got back.

After collecting all the kids, they all had their trick or treating fun for the night. Akemi had lose after six years of being the "Candy Champion" to his own sister. It turns out that Aura used Lynelle adorable hero costume alongside her princess one to get her candy income to double. A young baby hero defending a princess. An adorable ruse. Akemi face palmed for not seeing this sooner, he had to admit that Aura planned this well.

"Using Lynelle to win, not bad. I should have thought of that. So how much candy did you score?" Akemi asked

" I say around almost two hundred pieces" Aura looked at her candy stash.

Akemi handed her all his candy. He smiled and hugged before entering their grandfather house. He knew she would win this year. So he planned on giving her his candy as well. Looks like there was a new champion in the family.

Aura was shocked but was just happy that she was getting her candy stash doubled.

Chiyo laid on the living room couch after having crashed from eating all her candy while Bakula chatted with her grandma about new recipes.  She had to be held down by both Shin Mao and Mao Mao until she finally crashed. Bakula sat beside, helping soothe her stomach pain with some relaxing mint tea that she made.

"I told you not to eat all of it. Now you have a serious stomach ache and Dad will most likely give you a sugar ban for the next couple of months" Bakula smiled softly as he handed her the tea.

"Ughh..." Chiyo couldn't even talk with stomach pain she was feeling. She sip the tea slowly, hoping it would relieve the pain soon

Euno had achieved his goal as he did double the amount of candy that he pickpocket this year. Forty pieces of candy. He samples one of the candies, a sweet carmel. His mouth watered at it's sweet taste.

Carmine creeped out all of kids with his dark powers. If he could feed off of screams than he would be greatly satisfy. He smirked at his success.

Fabron was playing with Mao Mao. They were playing cowboy. Mao Mao was a rival cowboy while Fabron was the sheriff. Mao Mao faked his death when Fabron pretended to shoot him in his heart with his toy blaster. Mao Mao couldn't help but smile as he played dead.

Buster rest close by the fireplace, curled up so he could absorb as much heat into his body as possible. Lynelle curled up next to him. Resting from all the fun they had that night. Buster noticed and wrapped his tail around her to keep her safe from the fire. A small smile appeared on his face, he likes keeping her safe like this.

Shin Mao was preparing some popcorn for the movie that Buster had picked. He picked an old warrior movie for them watch. Not too surprising but a good way to end the night. After all this they could finally rest.
