The Clans Begin part 2
The Clans Begin part two: Muddy Feet and Green Eyes speak
Green Eyes: Hello, traveler! My mother sent you here, didn't she? Wants me to finish the story where she left off. Very well, Muddy Feet may start.
Muddy Feet: Well, you heard what Bird Song said. I wanted to start my own clan. GreenClan didn't feel right to me; Bluejay had taught me who I was meant to be. A leader. That was what I intended to do, unbeknownst to Green Eyes. I asked Liontail, the medicine cat, to make Winter Skies her apprentice. I needed to have a medicine cat in my clan, which would become known as MudClan. Who would be better than my own son? Then I started to wonder who else would be in my clan. I told my father, Dragon Wing, my plans, and he instantly wanted in. He had never been fond of Green Eyes, and didn't enjoy being led by her.
Green Eyes: If I'd known what Muddy Feet was planning to do, I would have stopped it. We didn't have enough cats to make two whole clans; we'd never be strong enough. But I didn't know until it was too late, so I simply focused on GreenClan. Winter Skies and my kits were ready to become apprentices. My daughter was named Rainy Day, and one of my sons was named Red Eyes. My third and strongest kit was given a clan name; Stormkit. I apprenticed Stormpaw to myself, Winter Skies to Liontail, (As the medicine cat had requested) Rainy Day to Little Fox, and Red Eyes to Muddy Feet.
Muddy Feet: Red Eyes was a brilliant young tom. He learned how to hunt and fight quickly, much to my delight. I wanted him to join MudClan for sure, but I didn't know if he would betray his own mother like that; Especially if Stormpaw and Rainy Day stayed in GreenClan. I needed to find warriors for my clan fast.
Green Eyes: One day, our travels finally came to an end. As we were journeying through a large group of islands, we found it: The perfect home. It was mountainous on one side with dense forests full of prey on the other. The only cats that lived there were three stray kittypets that went by the names of Bay, Oliver, and Bopper. They lived in the mountains and didn't mind us on their territory at all. I made our camp in an underground cave hidden in the forest.
Muddy Feet: I was so glad to meet the stray kittypets. I told them about my plans to create a new clan, and they offered to join and even said that their home, a cave behind the waterfall, could be our camp. Bay and Oliver took the names Baypaw and Olivepaw, but Bopper refused to take an apprentice name. Bopper was quite old, so instead of making him an apprentice or a warrior, I actually offered to make him our first elder. He happily agreed.
Green Eyes: I had no idea why Muddy Foot was so friendly with the kittypets. We'd encountered many of them on our travels, and never before had he even paid attention to him. He also seemed too intent on Winter Skies, waiting impatiently for his training as medicine cat to be done. I brushed it off as him just paying too much attention to his son.
Muddy Feet: I still didn't know who I intended to be my deputy. Dragon Wing seemed too old, as he would most likely die before me. Most of the others were too young or untrustworthy. Because of this, I wanted to find a new cat that was fit to be leader. I had Dragon Wing temporarily take over Red Eyes' apprentice training as I went on a journey to a twolegplace a short swim off the cost of our island.
Green Eyes: Muddy Feet lied to me, claiming that he was going to look for more territory for GreenClan. As our apprentices grew smarter and stronger, our clan grew, and he claimed that we would need more space for the clan.
Muddy Feet: I soon met a rogue cat named Snake. He was a large, dangerous tom with sandy brown fur. Despite his temper, I respected him, and introduced him to the world of warriors, giving him an offer that he couldn't refuse; to one day rule over MudClan. I also quickly gave him a warrior name: Snakefang.
Green Eyes: When Winter Skies had finished his medicine cat training, Muddy Feet revealed his whole clan. I was infuriated that he had gone behind my back to create a clan of his own, then even angrier that Dragon Wing, Red Eyes, and Winter Skies all agreed to join him. I attempted to drive MudClan off my island, but eventually we came to an agreement that MudClan would rule the mountains and GreenClan would rule the forest.
Muddy Feet: The success of my clan made me all too happy. The mountains were difficult to hunt in, and the river that we agreed to be our border belonged to GreenClan. But I didn't give up. I apprenticed Olivepaw to myself and Baypaw to Winter Skies. My clan soon learned how to hunt the eagles and rabbits that swarmed the mountains and we soon became stronger than GreenClan.
Green Eyes: In an attempt to fight back at MudClan for becoming so strong, I made my apprentices, Stormpaw and Rainy Day, into warriors.
Muddy Feet: One thing that Winter Skies continuously bothered me about was the fact that MudClan and GreenClan had no way to communicate with StarClan. He delivered me a prophecy: When you have found the deepest cave on the tallest mountain, speak to the moon. I was immediately excited to hear whatever the "moon" had to say, so I quickly brought Winter Skies to the tallest mountain on the island. I searched each cave, but only one wounded down deep into the mountain. As I entered it, it quickly turned into a tunnel and I could see a light up ahead. I ended up standing in a room lit by a small lamp dangling from the ceiling. Inside stood a silver she-cat with blue eyes that seemed to glow. "Welcome to the mooncave." She greeted us. "I am a cat of the stars, the cat on the moon. My name is Moonlight. When you speak to me, you speak to StarClan. What would you like to say?" I was so excited, I felt like junping out of my fur. We'd finally found it: A way to talk to StarClan, the clan of warrior ancestors.
Green Eyes: When StarClan chose to send their prophet, or "Moon cat" to MudClan instead of GreenClan, I was furious. StarClan did grant both Muddy Feet and I official leadership, but I was beyond angry. I couldn't stop what I did next. I went to MudClan terriotory, unsheathed my claws, and murdered my own brother in cold blood.
