The Clans Begin Part 1
The Clans Begin part one: Bird Song and Dragon Wing speak
Bird Song: Oh, hello, traveler! Have you come to hear a story? Very well, my mate and I have quite the story to tell. Welcome to The Clans Begin. Dragon Wing will start us off by introducing you to the characters.
Dragon Wing: Bird Song and I are travelers. Our travels aren't for fun, but rather, an endless journey looking for the right home. We don't travel alone, though. My sisters Little Fox and Spider Web travel with us, along with Bird Song's brother Fish Scale. Our world was endlessly rainy, so we rarely received sunshine. It was always quite cold and muddy.
Bird Song: When we found out we were having kits, I was devastated. I didn't want to bring my children into a world full of misery; especially during leaf-bare. I didn't think they would ever survive.
Dragon Wing: Bird Song gave birth to three healthy kits, whom we named Golden Sun, Muddy Feet, and Green Eyes. Golden Sun was the runt of the litter, and therefore, weaker than her siblings. She passed away on her third day, and I was forced to bury her. Bird Song was heartbroken, but she was determined to raise our other two kits.
Bird Song: Although Golden Sun had died, Muddy Feet and Green Eyes were very healthy. When they were kits, I thought they would grow up into wonderful cats. But they didn't end up the way I had expected; But, rather, Green Eyes became a bossy, foolish young she-cat and Muddy Feet was quite the coward, always clinging to his father's side.
Dragon Wing: When our kits were around ten moons old, we met some strange cats that went by the name of Bluejay and Darksky. They claimed that they were "clan" cats that had been separated from their traveling group. They were about the same age as Muddy Feet and Green Eyes, and immediately the four young cats considered each other friends.
Bird Song: I was so glad to have met Bluejay. She was a beautiful shade of light ginger with gorgeous green eyes. Immediately I noticed how comfortable Muddy Feet was around her. The two cats were always together, falling behind the group and talking in hushed voices. He was less of a coward around her, not afraid to speak up and no longer always next to his father. She turned him into a wonderful cat with great ambitions.
Dragon Wing: Darksky, on the other hand, was no such cat. Bird Song and I only kept him around because Bluejay would never travel with us without him. Muddy Feet was clearly in love with Bluejay, and Bird Song and I didn't intend to break them up. But Darksky and Green Eyes were both demanding and obnoxious, and because of that, they seemed to get along.
Bird Song: I was glad that Green Eyes was in love, too. Despite how annoying the she-cat was, I loved her as much as any mother would love her kits. Fish Scale agreed with me, as him and Darksky made quite good friends. I didn't want to send Darksky away as much as Dragon Wing did. I was as devastated as my daughter when we met with Bluejay and Darksky's "clan." Of course the pair of young cats wanted to return to their home, and they offered to take Muddy Feet and Green Eyes with them. Little Fox convinced Muddy Feet not to go, and Green Eyes was indecisive.
Dragon Wing: We stayed with the clan for a day or two, waiting to learn whether or not Green Eyes would stay with us. In that time, we learned much about the ways of the clan, and Green Eyes was captivated by it. She said that she wished that she could be in a clan, but decided not to join Darksky when she discovered that she was pregnant. She claimed that she didn't want to raise her kits in a clan, then later confessed to Spider Web and Little Fox that she didn't love Darksky and didn't want him near her kits.
Bird Song: We were all sad to leave the clan, mostly Green Eyes. She loved the way that they were a large family, all with different ranks and jobs. She claimed that she wanted to return one day. Muddy Feet was as quiet and scared as ever without Bluejay by his side.
Dragon Wing: I was quite content with living on our own again. Green Eyes was bad enough, it was exhausting to be around Darksky. But the clan cats returned after many moons, along with a kit and a cat we did not know. The unknown cat introduced herself as Bluejay's sister.
Bird Song: The news the clan cats had for us was devastating. They claimed that the clan had been trapped in a fire, and they were the only survivors. Bluejay said that she had been pregnant with Muddy Feet's kits, a litter of five, but only one kit had survived the fire. She had named him Winter Skies. Darksky claimed that he wanted to create a new clan, so that the warrior code could live on forever. Green Eyes jumped at the idea, and claimed that she would he the leader. Darksky seemed to not like that idea, but he didn't say that out loud. She named him as deputy, and made me, Muddy Feet, Dragon Wing, Little Fox, Spider Web, Fish Scale, and Bluejay her warriors. Her three newborn kits, along with Winter Skies, became the first kits of GreenClan. Bluejay's sister was the healer, or "medicine cat," of their old clan, so she became the medicine cat of GreenClan.
Dragon Wing: Much to Muddy Feet's horror, Bluejay died only days after GreenClan was created due to her lungs being damaged by the fire. Her sister, Liontail, did everything she could to save her, but she didn't have the right herbs, as they had been destroyed in the fire. He was soon determined to do something crazy; create his own clan.
Bird Song: We should leave off here, I believe. Muddy Feet and Green Eyes should tell the next part of this story. Go to see them now! They will be waiting for you. Goodbye, traveler.
