Cheetahleap's Revenge

Cheetahleap's revenge: Cheetahleap speaks

Cheetahleap: It was important to me that I got my revenge on Frozenwater, but not right away. I was focused on my apprentice, Skypaw, Bunnyfall's only kit. She was starting to become a brilliant young cat, and I didn't want to risk getting thrown out of GreenClan and losing her forever.

But that wasn't the only thing I was focused on. I did plan to become leader of GreenClan, and I knew that Stormstar was growing old and slow. Dragonstar was on his last life, fading away more with every sunrise. Tigerstripe, the MudClan deputy, was also growing old.

"Skypaw! Pay attention!" I snapped. My apprentice tore her gaze from the strange markings on a tree that she had been studying.

"What? This is a cool tree! Let me be!" She turned to the tree again, resting her forepaws on it.

"We're supposed to be battle training!"

"We don't need battle training. Snakestar is dead and MudClan is weak. We have no threat to our clan!" She hissed.

I growled. "Fine, then, let's go hunting. Leaf-bare is almost here, and we will need to hunt now before all the prey has gone into hiding."

"Just wait a little while longer. I think these markings are a sign from StarClan!"

"Why would StarClan send a sign to you?" I asked. "They haven't said anything to either medicine cat. Let's go, Skypaw!"

"Fine." She huffed, struggling to her paws. "But when something terrible happens because someone ignored their sign, I'm blaming you!"

"Okay. Come on; I smell mouse." I prowled away from the training hollow, pressed low to the ground. Skypaw did the same.

Suddenly a different scent filled the air, followed by the sound of a cat desperately crashing through the undergrowth. A moment later, Winter Skies appeared. He didn't notice me as he whisked by, heading straight for our camp. A couple fox-lengths behind, Jaytail, Spottedfeather, and Snowpaw followed.

I ran after them, Skypaw right beside me. "Stormstar, Honeydrop!" Winter gasped. "I need your help, immediately! Dragonstar is dying!"

Stormstar shot out of his den, Honeydrop right behind him. He disappeared out of the camp with a flick of his tail aimed at Fallenflight, no doubt asking her to send warriors after him.

"Cheetahleap, Foxclaw, Nightwing, Frozenwater! Follow them!" She ordered. I did as she said, bounding out of the cave after my leader.

When we got to the MudClan camp, I saw Dragonstar laying in a heap on the hard surface of the cave. Winter Skies was bent over him, his apprentice, Brownfur, at his side. Honeydrop was pushing some herbs towards the dying MudClan leader, but he shook them away.

"Please, Dragonstar, don't die. Tigerstripe has retired to the elders den. We have no cat fit to lead the clan!" Brownfur was saying. Winter Skies just stared at his dying leader in horror.

Stormstar stepped forward. "Is that true? There has to be some cat that can lead MudClan! What about Jaytail? He would make a good leader!"

Winter Skies shook his head. "We have many strong warriors, yes, but.. No cat wants to be leader."

"But that's ridiculous!" Frozenwater blurted. I glared at my mother, urging her to keep quiet.

"What about Olivefur! He's very experienced... His mentor was the great Muddy Feet!" Snowpaw put in. Winter Skies chuckled at the apprentice, while Jaytail, Snowpaw's father, shushed him.

"Will any cat please step in and be leader?" Stormstar called out, looking confused. The cave was dead silent.

"Then until we have found the right cat to lead us, Stormstar will lead MudClan!" Winter Skies announced. Stormstar stared at the medicine cat in shock, but nodded briefly.

After Dragonstar had gone to StarClan, Stormstar sat vigil. He sent Frozenwater and I back to camp, and I saw that as my chance to kill her for what she had forced me to do.

We walked back the shortest way, over the mountain that I had pushed Rainy Day off of. My mother thought nothing of it, but I knew it was my only chance to get away with what I planned to do.

As we neared a ledge, I let out a furious hiss and butted into Frozenwater. But to my surprise, I was unable to throw her off her feet.

"I should have known you would pull something like this!" She spat. "Very well. If you want me dead, fine. But you're coming with me!" She leaped on my back, causing me to stagger and slip, and the two of us plummeted to the ground.
