The magical planet of Magique has a few kingdoms: Airia, the "Kingdom in the Sky", Earthos, "Nature's Favorite Kindom", and Marinia, the "Kingdom Below the Ocean".

    This tale tells the story of the beautiful, blonde, Pega-Sapien princess of Airia, Princess Angelique Diamond Aurora Pegasi Artemis Phoenix Athena Windsong Skyland. One day, after growing tired of being trapped in the Cloud Palace, which has flawless, white, ancient Greek architecture, the 10-year-old Angelique spreads her Pegasus-like wings and soars to a section of dark storm clouds. She had never been below a storm cloud before, so curiosity gets the better of her. She flies below the clouds and what she sees amazes her: bright, yellow streaks of light hitting targets out of her line of sight. She takes on a challenge that she created herself: racing a lightening bolt to the ground. She races one of the lightening bolts toward Earthos and wins by a few seconds. Once she reaches the ground, which she had never seen before, she is next to a lake. She sees her best friend, Sirena, a siren, splashing around in the lake (Sirena's favorite activity).

      A week before she raced the lightening bolt, Angelique had wandered into the War Room of the palace. The War Room had a large pool so that the king of Airia could communicate with Marinia's king, Fineas, during war time (the people of Marinia can travel between different bodies of water in seconds). Princess Sirena, Fineas' daughter, was splashing around (as usual) in the War Room's pool. Angelique told Sirena that it was illegal for anyone except Airia's royal family to be in the War Room without the king's permission. Sirena's eyes widened and she stepped out of the pool.

"Please don't tell," said Sirena, worried, "I didn't mean to break the law. You see, I wandered into this room on accident 'cause I've been here before and I guess my subconscious caused me to wander in here."

      The tiny siren smiled at the taller Pega-Sapien. Angelique smiled back and, suddenly, their bodies began to glow. The blue light outlining Sirena and the white light outlining Angelique made the two girls smile at each other, for they had just bonded. The girls are going to be friends for eternity. This bond grew stronger as they spent more time together. This bond was also the reason Angelique wanted to go below the clouds; Sirena lived in water, below the earth's crust.

      After racing the lightening bolt and chatting with Sirena, Angelique raced back to her palace home before her parents noticed she was gone. A few weeks later, she revealed to her parents that she had left the palace and raced a lightening bolt. Her mother, Queen Athena IV, was angry, but her father, King Cloudus, the kinder of her parents, was in awe.

"So who won, my beautiful princess?," Cloudus asked with a smile, "You or the bolt?"

"Me dad!," Angelique said happily, "Can you believe it?!"

      Cloudus paused, deep in thought. Then he said,

"Yes, my daughter. I can believe it."

"So you're okay with our daughter racing lightening bolts?," Athena asked, although her question sounded more like a statement, "Is that what you're telling me?"

"My dear Athena, our daughter is one of the most powerful witches of her age, as foretold by prophecy," said Cloudus, "She can handle a measly lightening bolt! (To Angelique) Can't you, beautiful?"

      Angelique nodded and then told them about how her friend, Sirena, whom they've met before, goes to a magic school on Earthos. She told them she wanted to get out of the clouds. Her mother looked shocked, but her father nodded.

"You want to be with your friend," Cloudus said to Angelique, who nodded.

"I want to attend Magique School of Advanced Magic," Angelique told her parents, speaking more to Cloudus than Athena, who looked appalled, "I'm tired of being a 'smile and wave' princess. I want adventure!"

      After a moment of silence, her father agreed to send her to the prestigious school, to Athena's dismay.

      Years later, Sirena and Angelique, who nicknamed herself "Bolt" because she raced against the lightening bolt and won, are both 14 now, are still friends, still attend Magique School of Advanced Magic (MSAM), and are about to be Level 9 (9th grade) students, meaning the magic they're about to learn is going to be powerful, and they're going to have much more responsibility. The two friends are soon introduced to Violet Charmsman, a girl who had been studying advanced magic with Athena, Angelique's mother! It turns out that Angelique had seen Violet before, when she was wandering the palace out of boredom (the #1 reason Angelique wanted freedom). Violet bonds with Sirena and Bolt magically and they go on many weird adventures at MSAM.
