Ferris Wheels

Just a Drabble, sammy and norman are my comfort ship so here we are

———-

Sammy wasn't afraid of heights. No, of course not. Nothing at all concerning with sitting in a swinging...swaying bench...with no seatbelt...Yeah, this was fine.

But they'd been up here for a while, hadn't they? Joey and Henry, who'd sat out of this ride due to Joey's wheelchair and disdain of heights in general, looked more like ants than anything else. But the more he focused on them, the tighter he grasped the safety bar. This wasn't missed by the person riding with him; after all, little went unnoticed by the projectionist of Joey Drew Studios.

"You sure you're fine?" Norman asked, putting his hand on top of the music director. It had been a while since they'd gotten stuck, after all. Surely they'd do some maintenance...or get the riders down at least in case things were seriously wrong.

The music director swallowed; even though Norman definitely knew Sammy far better than anyone else could, and because of that had seen many sides to the man, admitting to this tiny inconvenience was... embarrassing, for some reason.

There was never a verbal answer, but with one as perspective as Norman, there didn't always need to be. Just in the way that Sammy hid his face in Norman's chest, the way he clung to his partner so that he could focus on anything but the fact that they were stranded more than sixty feet in the air with no knowledge of when they'd be getting down.

So he held Sammy's hand, rubbing small, soothing circles into the back of it with his thumb. With the space that they had, he gently guided Sammy so the director was nearly in his lap. Anything, really, to distract him.

The sun had long set; when they'd gotten on the Ferris wheel the two had marveled at the way the rays of the sun danced along the water. Sammy began to collect himself and sat up just as a hissing noise streaked through the sky and an explosion of color danced in front of them. From their vantage points, they were closer than ever to the exploding lights, set off a safe distance away.

They still didn't know why they'd gotten stuck, or what kind of luck they both had. But they did know that immediately after the fireworks, the ride came to life once more.
