“Muriel…..”, Earwyn mumbled softly with worry. “MURIEL!!!”, he shouted out.

“Oops, we don’t want you to interfere until it’s over so be a good boy alright?”, the man said. The other four with him laughed evilly.

“Let go of me! If you do anything to Muriel I swear I’ll kill you all!”, he shouted with rage.

“You’re a gutsy kid”, he looked at him. Earwyn’s eyes shows that he’s serious with what he just said. “I don’t like your eyes. Your eyes, have the same look I had once before. I wonder how far you’re able to go with those look in your eyes”, he smirked. “Hey! Take him away. I’m going to take care of the Goddess myself. Keep this little one company. I don’t want anyone to interfere understand?”, he ordered.

“As you wish my Lord”, the other four bowed to him and grabbed Earwyn’s body.

“Let me go! MURIEL!!!! MURIEL!!!!”, he shouted as loud as he can.

“Hey boss! This one has magic!”, one said.

“Magic?”, Earwyn was unaware of what he was doing that made one of his captors think that he is using magic.

“What do you mean? He’s just a villager”, said the leader of the men.

“He’s nullifying my magic with his! I can’t keep him still with my Suppression Magic”, he said.

“Let me see”, the other one said, he blasted something to Earwyn but it did not reach him.

“What the?”, Earwyn looked at himself.

“He really is a gutsy kid”, the leader smiled evilly.

“I don’t know what is happening here but…”, Earwyn made a mad dash towards the forest.

“Follow him! Stop him before he reaches the Goddess!”, the leader said.

“I won’t let you hurt Muriel. You’re going to have to kill me first!”, he vowed.

“No…….it can’t be…No…..”, Juvia stuttered. The waves and the waters halted from attacking. Erza and the others were puzzled and they realized that Juvia was affected by what she was witnessing from the accounts of Earwyn’s Journal. “No way!”

Muriel, who was inside of Juvia, was witnessing the truth with her own eyes. Even if it was coming from Earwyn’s Journal, the truth is being revealed since the journal that was showing the vision was the same journal that she gave him from a long time ago. It automatically writes down what the owner was experiencing and shows it when needed. She can’t ignore that fact since it was her who created it herself. The journal was showing them, both Earwyn and her story.

“That can’t be….Earwyn betrayed me…EARWYN BETRAYED ME!!!!”, she cried out and the waves came splashing all of them from side to side. She’s wrecking havoc all over the place.

The forest echoed with rumblings and fighting. Earwyn was not aware of his magic but he considered his ability to nullify anything supernatural as a gift and not magic. He’s using it as he ran his way through the forest. Avoiding and fighting against four people is harder than it sounds but if he won’t fight them off, he will either be killed or having Muriel getting killed without proposing to her. He managed to stop the three, due to his unexplained magic; he was able to kill the three using different effects of it. Through all the fighting he was able to get out of the forest alive. He was exhausted and staggering but he continued to keep moving. He can see Muriel’s figure not too far from where he is. He gathered his last remaining strength to walk faster to her but….

“MU….”, he was unable to finish his sentence. Someone has knocked him with a hard thing on his head. “Mu….riel”, he drifted to unconsciousness with the necklace safely kept in his body. He can feel pain from his stomach and he knows that blood was rushing from it. He fought his thwarting feeling.

“Hah! That’s what you get for playing a deadly game with us!”, the leader laughed with a smug face. “Suffer as you die!”, with that, he left him.

“Darn it! I’ve let my guard down”, he muttered weakly against the pain. Although he was beginning to lose consciousness, it doesn’t mean he can’t stop it. He made an effort to move his body despite of the pain.

“Muriel….wait for…me”, he crawled helplessly. “I will…come…..for you”

“LIES!!!! NO!!!! EARWYN BETRAYED ME!!!! HE BETRAYED ME!!!!!”, Juvia or Muriel was hysterical. She was shaking so bad. She can’t accept the things she was seeing or hearing. “STOP!!!”

“Who are you?”, Muriel gasped when she saw a man standing six foot from where she sat.

“Don’t worry, I was sent here by someone”, he said.

“You can see me?”, she asked. “You’re a wizard aren’t you?”, she said.

“Don’t be afraid”, the man made a friendly gesture to not scare her.

“Who sent you? Where’s Earwyn?”, she asked.

“Earwyn? Oh you’re little friend. I saw him on my way here, but, he ran out of the forest. He was the one who guided me here. He wanted me to do something he wasn’t able to do”, he smiled evilly.

“You can’t be serious with that”, she said with anger. “He wouldn’t…he wouldn’t betray me…..”, she was on the verge of tears. Although she doesn’t believe what this man is saying, his eyes were telling her what he’s come for. Only one person knows that secret, the person she entrusted everything she had including her life.

“Shhh…don’t cry”, the man was fast. He was holding her instantly.

“Let…Let me go! What…what are you doing?”, she struggled but she can’t feel her body.

“My magic was able to stop every muscle a person has. It cuts every sense, as for your case, I left your sight, voice and hearing available”, he laughed menacingly. “You can’t move an inch can you, Goddess?”, he eyed her with an intent to kill. “Ironic isn’t it? Bounded to that form you can’t do anything against wizards like me. We’re you’re greatest predators”

“How….do you know?”, she was scared now.

“It doesn’t matter right? You’re going to die anyway. I’ll carve out your heart and I’ll gain immortality from you”, he sinisterly said.

“You monster, you can’t gain immortality. You can’t kill a Goddess that easily. Don’t underestimate me”, she warned.

“Oh do I? You talk so big for a Goddess. It’s true that I can’t kill a Goddess that easily. But…that is if you are in your Goddess state. As you are now, you’re a mortal. Foolish Goddess, you should have returned to your Godly form when you had your chance but your heart was easily tricked by a mere human man. Don’t you think it’s tragic? Look at you, so vulnerable and can’t even use your powers as you please. And where is the one you thought would help you? He’s not here is he?”, he continued saying harsh words to her. “Who knows right? Don’t worry though this will be fast”

Muriel was crying now. She can’t forgive the fact that Earwyn was not there for her when he promised. She thinks he betrayed her. No one was supposed to know the secret of immortality for humans. She thought Earwyn was the one who ordered this man to kill her to gain immortality for himself.

“Earwyn betrayed me. Why! Why!”, Muriel thought with depression building inside her.

“Goodbye, Goddess!”, at one strike to the heart, Muriel’s last tear dropped from her cheeks.

“Earwyn….”, Muriel’s last thought was hatred for the man who never showed up to her.

The stillness of the night crept in the city as the moonlight shades the tragic fate that has been bestowed. Not another single soul saw what happened besides those who were the casualty of inevitable circumstances.

“Mu…riel…….It’s can’t be…..NO!”, Earwyn dropped to the floor where he saw the body of the girl he loved the most. The lake and the ground were shaded with red beyond the moonlight. A hole was carved on the mermaid’s chest with remnants of tears on her pale cheeks. “MURIEL!!! WAKE UP PLEASE!!!! MURIEL!!!!! AHHH!!! NOOOOO!!!!!”, Earwyn ignored the gushing of his own blood. His heart grieves and he felt the pain more seething in there than from his own wound itself. “MURIEL…..MURIEL my love please…..open your eyes!!! COME ON!!!!! MURIEL PLEASE!!!….”, he sobbed in devastation. He snuggled to her chest, caressing the golden locks he loved so much.

At that point, Earwyn soaked the necklace in his hand with Muriel’s own blood.

“I promised you….we will be……together forever didn’t I?.....That means….I’ll follow you…..I’ll chase after you wherever you are…….and when I find you again….I’ll definitely…….save you Muriel….With this thing in my hand….for sure……I’ll protect you…..I’ll entrust my last magic with this…someday….I’m sure….we’ll meet again….and when we did……I’ll never let…you…….go”, Earwyn’s last words faded with Muriel’s earthly form. The necklace was left shining under the moonlight.

“Gray……this is…”, Lucy gasped with tears rushing from her eyes. “He didn’t betray her….He loved her until his last moment”

“Yes”, Gray bowed sadly.
