“Master Elric, here it is”, Greta brought a large lacrima inside the room.

“Thank you. Connect me to Hibiki of Blue Pegasus at once”, Elric ordered.

“As you wish”, Greta bowed and did what she was told to do.

“I’m getting something from the Anidrew’s via Lacrima”, Hibiki informed the group who were walking their way outside the cave.

“Alright, connect them”, Jura said. As if on cue, the lacrima showed Elric Anidrew’s worried face.

“I’m so glad I could reach you. How are things going in there? Have you found the Water’s Tear?”, Elric bombarded them with questions.

“Well, we did found the Water’s Tear but something happened and we need your help”, Lucy instantly told him.

“Alright what is it?”, Elric replied.

Jura and Lucy explained everything to him while the others waited and made their strategy in saving Juvia.

“I see, one of you was taken by the Water’s Tear. Well you were right Milady Lucy, the Water’s Tear must have infused itself with her. I found some documents about it that were not written in any of the Archives. It was written down by my ancestors and I figured something like this would happen”, Elric said.

“You mean there is something else about the Water’s Tear?”, Lucy gasped.

“Explaining it to you will take a long time but I will send it to you so you can read about it. I will send it to Hibiki-san”, Elric said. “If it’s you, I’m sure you will find what it means”

“Alright. Thank you”, Lucy told him.

“Please be safe”, Elric finally said as he cut off their communication.

“Lucy the documents are here”, Hibiki said.

“Okay, give me some time to read it”, Lucy said.

“Take your time. Whatever it contains must have something to help us and Juvia”, Lyon said.

It was dark outside the cave. Lucy sat at one of the corners outside the cave with Hibiki at her side. She was wearing the magic reading glass to help her read faster. The others are taking their time as well. Erza, Wendy, Natsu, Charle and Happy sat closely to her. Cherry and Jenny were cooking their dinner with Ren and Eve to help them. Gajeel, Lily, Charle, Ichiya, Nichiya and Jura created their dwelling place for the night.

Gray was looking out to the sea when Lyon approached him.

“Gray, can I have a word with you?”, Lyon approached him.

“What is it?”, Gray asked.

“There’s something you should know”, Lyon said seriously.

“Alright, what is it?”, Gray said.

“I can’t believe this”, Lucy gasped as she read through the last part of the documents Elric sent them with Hibiki’s Archive Magic.

“What is it?”, Hibiki asked.

“What did you discover Lucy?”, Erza demanded.

“The Water’s Tear. I told you it was possessed by the spirits of the Merrows or mermaids right?”, Lucy said.

“Yes, that’s what you’ve told us”, Wendy said.

“There’s more to it than that”, Lucy said. She looked around for everyone. “Everyone! I found something about the Water’s Tear!”, she shouted. All heads turned to her and walked to gather near her.

“What is it?”, Jura asked her.

“The Water’s Tear, wasn’t just possessed by the spirits of the Mermaid. No, the spirit inside the Water’s Tear, wasn’t mermaids. It was a goddess”, Lucy said.

“Goddess? What do you mean?”, Natsu blurted out.

“Impossible. Why would a Goddess be inside of such a thing?”, Ichiya said.

“It’s true. It is said that long ago, a goddess was protecting this island. The goddess’ name was inflicted to the city at the heart of the island which is Muriel. Some says she was a goddess in mermaid form so she can interact with the people. But, only one can actually see her. The goddess fell in love with a man living here so she gave him the authorities in the land. He made a promise with her, a pact that his whole existence will belong to her when his body is no longer agile for the authorities. He said that when the night of the New Moon comes, he will give his whole being to her; to live with her in the seas. He courted her, just like humans do. Muriel was deeply in love with him so she trusted him. She was confident with his love for her. She told him her body becomes that of a human when she turned herself as a mermaid on the night of the New Moon. She told him that once a god/goddess turns into their earthly forms, their powers were vulnerable. She told him the legends as to how humans can acquire the same powers as that of the gods by taking out their hearts and eating it”, Lucy told them. Everyone’s eyes were wide.

“Don’t tell me that person….”, Hibiki said with fear.

“I don’t know. There were no stories about him in these documents. The only thing we can learn about him is that the man’s name was stated as Earwyn Anidrew. Elric’s great grandfather who did not marry and died without any heir to his wealth. It says here that Earwyn was supposed to meet Muriel that night. When the night of the New Moon came, he never fulfilled his promise”, Lucy said.

“Why didn’t he?”, Cherry asked.

“Looks like something happened to him, which was not written in here. That part skipped until he was announced dead. He was holding a gold plaited necklace in his hands when he died”

“A gold plaited necklace?”, Ichiya seriously asked with his hand under his chin.

“Yes, that was one of the Anidrew’s heirlooms as far as I can remember. He was holding it before when he greeted us”, Lucy recollected.

“So what happened?”, Natsu asked.

“Muriel never thought anyone would be able to see her in her earthly form besides him”, Lucy said.

“Then the townspeople of Muriel….”, Wendy stuttered.

“No, it wasn’t the townspeople. There were thieves and Dark Merchant Guilds on nearby ports and islands like Hargeon. One of those probably did it to her in her earthly form but it was not proclaimed. Muriel thought that she was betrayed by Earwyn. She thought he told the ones who killed her about the secret she just told him. She loathed Earwyn to her death. Muriel was dead when her body was found by the fishermen from the city. Muriel’s heart was taken out of her”, Lucy told them.

“If the legends were true then the one who ate her heart should still be alive by now”, Jura replied.

“Sadly, the legends about it were false. Before she died, she cursed the Water’s Tear. Her soul will wander until she finds the person who betrayed her and responsible for her death. It happened before. Muriel’s soul was taken inside the Water’s Tear when it was taken in here”, Lucy said.

“Then the one who took Juvia was that goddess?”, Lyon gasped.

“Yes I believe so. But that’s not the only problem. When Muriel became part of the Water’s Tear, her only purpose was to find that man, but Earwyn died the day her body was found. The stories say that he died without her knowledge for her soul departed from her earthly form with the necklace in his hands. She never meant to destroy the city for she was protecting it. But the Water’s Tear was activated. When she died, her protection on the island was nullified. It wrecks havoc throughout the land and destroyed the city itself. Muriel never wanted it to happen. When the Water’s Tear destroyed the island she protected, somehow her purposes changed. Now, she made a new oath to stop the Water’s Tear”, Lucy said.

“And what is that oath?”, Gray asked.

“To find the most precious feeling which would be able to control the Water’s Tear and stop it”, Lucy said.

“What does that mean?”, Cherry and Jenny said in unison.

“I don’t know yet but it seems there’s something more to it”, Lucy looked at the ground. “If its Juvia’s feelings it was waiting for, Juvia should be able to control it, but the Water’s Tear took her away. That only means her feelings were not enough to handle it. The Water’s Tear or Muriel’s soul herself were trying to look for something else”, Lucy put her hands under her chin with seriousness in her eyes.

“So that means Juvia is still in danger being hostage by the Water’s Tear?”, Lyon asked.

“More importantly, we should try to have some rest. We’ll need all the energy we need for tomorrow”, Jura announced.

They heeded Jura’s advice and ate dinner. When they were done, went to their respective places and took a nap.
