“I’m free”, Wendy said as she landed on the ground safely.

“Wendy!!!”, Charle hugged her tight.

“It can’t be!!! My plans!!!”, Kyouka angrily gritted her teeth. “DIE!!!”, she attacked him once again. Romeo dodged it with ease even without Charle’s help.

“What’s happening to her?”, Wendy asked worriedly.

“It won’t be long before she loses her sanity with all her anger”, Charle said.

“WHAT?”, Wendy gasped in shock.

“AHHH!!!!”, Kyouka shouted in vain. “DIE!!! ALL OF YOU WILL DIE!!!!”, she said.

“Stop it!”, Romeo said.

“BREAK!!!! BREAK!!! BREAK!!!”, her attacks went wild that it affected the cave they were in.

“This is bad, Wendy let’s go!”, Romeo grabbed Wendy’s hand and made for the exit.

Charle was the ahead of them. “Faster!”, she shouted.

“I won’t let you go so easily. We’ll die together”, Kyouka grinned.

Before they know it, the entrance crumbled. Charle wasn’t able to utter a word. Romeo and Wendy were trapped inside. The boulders were in between them.

“WENDY!!! WENDY!!!”, Charle cried out.

“What should we do now? It won’t budge?”, Wendy and Romeo tried roaring and punching their way out but the boulder is too thick.

“Ahuh..ahuh”, they heard Kyouka coughing. They saw blood on her hands.

“Wait…you…”, Romeo started.

“If I can’t use you…..I’ll….use a forbidden magic…”, Kyouka eyed them weakly.

“What did you do?!”, Wendy was shocked with what she’s seeing. The barrier was right in front of them, behind Kyouka.

“Don’t tell me that’s….”, Romeo’s eyes were wide too.

“Father’s treasure”, Kyouka smirked. “I’ll free it myself”, she said. “Now I can avenge their death”

“Stop! Don’t you know what it can do?! Are you really trying to kill yourself just for a stupid revenge?”, Romeo shouted with urgency.

“I don’t care! I would fulfil my vengeance! You kids are going to be my first victim!”, Kyouka looked like a wild woman.

“She’s insane”, Romeo stuttered.

“But…it’s so sad…”, Wendy cried. “She shouldn’t do this”, she said.

“Wendy?”, Romeo looked at her.

“I have to help her. She should be stopped”, she said.

“But how?”, Romeo asked. “At this rate, our words are futile. She won’t hear us”

Wendy looked at him sadly but something caught her attention.

“I hear something”, Wendy said.

“What……”, Romeo tried to hear it too.

“Come! Let’s corrode everything to the ground!”, Kyouka’s voice echoed. Blood started to trickle down her head as she looks at the breaking barrier happily. The mist started to leak out.

“This is bad it’s starting to corrode everything”, Romeo said. They can see the mist making contact with some boulders and it decayed into nothing in an instant. “Wendy?.....”, Romeo’s eyes widened when he saw Wendy kneeling down the ground.

“I can hear it…..a solemn voice”, Wendy uttered.

Romeo was about to say something when a magical circle appeared under her and light emanated through the cave. Romeo stood in front of her to protect her if anything happens. The mist stopped from leaking out.

“MILKY WAY!!”, Wendy shouted out. Kyouka looked at her when the barrier stopped from breaking. To her weakened state, she looked at Romeo and Wendy with disbelief. There, standing beside them, she saw a familiar figure she deeply missed.

“Fa…ther?”, she mumbled.

The said astral projection of the man opened his eyes and looked at her sadly.

“Kyouka….”, he said.

“Father!!!”, Kyouka made her way to them and tried hugging the figure but he passed through. “FATHER!!”

“Kyouka….my beloved daughter…”, Count Hiruka smiled.

“WHY CAN’T I TOUCH YOU?! FATHER!!”, she tried her best to hug him but to no avail.

“I am already dead. This girl…helped me to say something important to you…one last time…”, he said. Romeo looked at Wendy with amazement.

“Father…”, Kyouka cried hard.

“Stop this Kyouka…..don’t let the mist break out…”, Count Hiruka stated.

“Why?? I’m using it to avenge your…”

“Kyouka…there’s nothing to avenge”

“What do you mean? The council killed you! The townspeople killed Mother and everyone else!”, Kyouka cried out. “They took everything away from me! THEY..”

“Kyouka….you don’t remember it well do you?”, Count Hiruka started.

“What do you mean?”

“Try to look back that time when the Council came”, Count Hiruka said.

Flashback

“Father….”, Kyouka groggily went to look for her father. She was four years old.

“Count Hiruka! The Council is to take you into custody”, she heard some men roughly talking. She saw her father standing by the door with the Rune Knights putting him in shackles. “We’re arresting you for treason!”

“Wait, what are you talking about?”, Count Hiruka tried to squirm.

“Dear…what is happening?”, Kyouka saw her Mother frantically coming over to them to help Count Hiruka.

“It’s just a misunderstanding dear”, she heard her father say.

“But…”

“Fahter!”, Kyouka ran ro him.

“Kyouka what are you doing here?”, Count Hiruka looked at her worriedly. “Yuuka take her”, Kyouka was taken by her Mother and hugged her tight before taking her away from them.

“What are you doing to him? Stop your actions right now!”, another voice shouted out. Kyouka was hearing it faintly.

“Four Kings of Ishuval”, Count Hiruka stuttered with disbelief.

“You are to assist him. We’re not here to judge him for treason. There’s no conclusive evidence”, they said.

“But….this man..hid the mist”, the Rune Knights tried to interrupt.

“Is that so? Then take him to Magnolia. We’re going to talk things there. The Council will take him for a while”, they said. “Count Hiruka, this may be very repulsive but..please endure those shackles. It’s for formality”

“I understand”, Count Hiruka willingly surrendered himself.

End of Flashback

“Are you saying….they did not accuse you for betraying everyone by hiding the mist? They didn’t arrest you?”, Kyouka started to calm down a bit.

“Accuse, yes, they arrested me too. But the things that you are thinking that happened after that are the wrong things”, Count Hiruka said.

“What…”, Kyouka can’t believe it.

“That’s because you didn’t see what exactly happened”, Count Hiruka sadly said. His astral hands rested on her shoulders in a comforting way.

Then Kyouka’s eyes widened. “Wait, Mother….what about her? I saw them! I saw the townspeople took her. Grandma and the others too! That’s when they burned them right?. That’s why Rinaburn turned into ash seventeen years ago!”, she said.

“That…is also an accident”, Count Hiruka answered.

“Accident?”, Kyouka slumped to the ground. Clearly, she doesn’t believe it. “Lies…..you’re lying…I saw them…the Council took them from me…..Mom…she protected me so I can get away….they burned her…”

“They didn’t. That time, I was with your Mother”, Count Hiruka said.

Flashback

“What are you doing?”, Yuuka’s voice echoed the room.

“Yuuka?!”

“Dear….”, Yuuka saw him and happily ran to him.

“Where’s Kyouka?”, Count Hiruka asked.

“I don’t know. I let her escape. They arrested us so suddenly and…”

“Yuuka, listen to me. We have to tell the Council about Kyouka”, Count Hiruka said.

“What? And have her arrested too?”

“no, you must understand. We’re not arrested. They’re trying to protect us. The mist I found was too powerful. They told me they’ll handle it but they have to make sure we’re far from here because my magic, Kyouka’s magic, might hinder the barrier”, he explained.

“What?”

“Yuuka, tell me where she is”

“I hid her near the mountains”

“WHAT! She must be found. The Council is almost finished with the barrier”

They told the Rune Knights about Kyouka and they asked the townspeople to look for her as well. That’s when the accident happened. One of the lookers’ torches accidentally fell on the field and it started the fire. It reached the town in a fast pace that everyone was caught in it except for Kyouka. She was outside the mountain where the mist is when it happened. She saw the mist leaking out on the entrance and someone hugged her tight before it vanished and the only thing she remembers is: her, unconsciously using her magic to protect herself. The mountain collapsed and trapped the mist inside it.

Rinaburn burned to the ground with everyone in it. She was walking away from the wretched town that once she thought would be her solitude all through life. Vengeance was in her eyes as she looks back for one last time. Ten years later, Rinaburn was reborn into Ranburin. The new dwellers settled in and wizards started to crowd the area. It was three years later that they found out about the mist and completely trapped it using Barrier Magic.

Two years after, Kyouka completed training her magic and was taken as Master of Silent Reaper due to her powers and vengeful wrath.

End of Flashback

“Are you telling me…that I’ve been blinded all this time? All the things I am doing is sheer stupidity?”, Kyouka looked back at the mist that will break out any moment. The barrier is still cracking.

“Kyouka….my dear daughter…listen to me...please….I don’t have much time left….stop this. This is not right. Your vengeance is for nothing. Don’t dirty your hands any more than it did. Surrender yourself…for me and for our family. You know how dangerous the mist is right? Of all people, you understand what I’m saying to you. Please Kyouka, don’t waste your life because of us. My only wish for you now…is to live and be happy”, Count Hiruka’s body started to fade. “I’m so happy that I can set you straight….one last time….”

“Father!”, Kyouka cried.

“I love you my daughter”, Kyouka ran to him but she can’t grasp him in her hands.

“WAHHHHHH!”, Kyouka cried hard.

“Live”, is the only thing she heard from him before he completely disappeared.
