~Chase's POV~

"Ohhh, this just feels right. You know? Like it was meant to be. Vault Hunters kill me, I learn humility, you bring me back where I belong, wiser and stronger. It's a...it's a pretty sweet little character arc, isn't it? Yeah, yeah except for the part where I learn humility, that's...that's crap," Jack said.

"Hyperion doesn't need you anymore, Jack! Deal with it! You're old news," Rhys said while trying to break free of the chair's restraints. I was slowly crawling towards him.

"You know, funny you should mention that---cause I'm not gonna be the same old me. I mean, I'll obviously be wearing you like a fleshy tracksuit which'll be new for you, but I've got some pretty sick upgrades planned, too," Jack said and grinned evilly. I finally was able to get to my knees but it still hurts to stand.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hang on, don't go anywhere. I gotta- I'm gonna show you something." Jack started laughing again. The floor around Jack's desk descended slowly. When I looked up, I saw an endoskeleton.

"Let me guess, Nakayama made it for you," I said softly.

"The princess is very smart! You should be more like her, cupcake. They were gonna put it inside my original body and then upload my consciousness into it, so I'd be wearing my old body like a skin suit! It's great, right? Only the original me died before that could happen. Which....is why I need you, big guy." Jack was smirking at Rhys on two smaller monitors.

"Rhys, the chair," I muttered. He looked down at me. I could tell he's mad and scared.

"At least let me help her!" Rhys screamed at Jack.

"Yeah-no. So, if you could just stay still, this is gonna get grafted into your body, and then I'll get uploaded into it." Jack denied Rhys' request. Different tools came out and approached Rhys. A saw was heading right towards Rhys' chest.

"Scoot the chair back! It has wheels!" I yell and stand up. Rhys pushed back as far as he could while the saw kept getting closer and closer.

"I...for- I forgot the frigging chair had wheels. You know what, that's...that's my bad, that's on me," Jack said. While Jack was distracted with Rhys, I accessed my code and changed into my cybernetics.

I got up and tore off the saw.

"So, the human babe changed into a super hot Cyborg babe. Man, this day just keeps getting better and better!" Jack laughs.

"Hey----nonono--NO NO! Drop it, DROP IT!" I heard Rhys say. I turned around and saw a robotic hand taking the Gortys piece. I grabbed it and ripped the hand right out. I went over to Rhys and tore the restraints right off.

"Take the piece, Rhys." I tossed the piece over to Rhys.

"Even your voice changed," Rhys said and caught the piece.

"Take it and go. I'll be right behind you," I said and faced the two monitors displaying Jack's face. Rhys turned me around and stared at me.

"Promise?" He asked. I sighed.

"Promise. Now, go!" I say as he falls down the trapdoor.

"Now it's just you and me, sweetheart," Jack said and grinned.

"No. It's just me." I broke the two monitors and disabled the screen that projects on the window. The whole office was now black. I went back to my human form and went down the trapdoor. I went to descend the ladder, but ended up slipping. A small scream slipped from my lips and I closed my eyes.

"Rhys, catch her!" I heard Fiona's voice.

"I got her!" I opened my eyes and saw Rhys right above me. He caught me right in his arms. His face had a relieved expression on it after I opened my eyes.

"Wow, nice catch," I complimented.

"No time for flirting. We need to get out of here!" Sasha yelled and stormed off with Gortys. Fiona followed shortly after. Rhys put me down and we ran through the prison block.

"Rhys? Chase?"

Both of us stopped in front of a cell.

"Well, if it isn't Yvette," Rhys said and crossed his arms.

"Please, I'm sorry. I gave Hyperion your coordinates to keep you safe," Yvette said. I glared at her.

"To keep us safe? You wanted Rhys back dead! That's not what I call keeping someone safe!" I yell at her. She looks down at the ground in shame.

"You can't leave me in here," She said pleadingly.

"Oh yeah? Watch us," Rhys said and we both walk away.

"Rhys! Chase!" She shouts our names one last time.

"Come on you two. The doors are shutting!" Sasha yelled. Rhys and I began running to the door that was slowly closing. He suddenly got a call from August. Apparently, the hangar doors are shut.

Take the Gortys piece!" Rhys threw the piece and it stopped the door. There was enough space for me to get through but not Rhys.

"Chase, go with Fiona and Sasha. I'll meet you at the hangar." He gently pushed me towards the small gap.

"Like hell I am! I'm sticking with you. You might need my help," I protested.

"Rhys, Chase is better off with you. We'll wait for both of you!" Fiona grabbed the piece and the door closed.

"Time to go open those doors!" I say and we run to the central systems. When we reach the center of Helios, we find the console and Rhys gets busy.

"Okay... I can do this....just gotta hack into the central systems, reverse the lockdown, and get the hell out of here! No problem!" Rhys said as he hacked. I watch as the core spins around.

"Alright. I am in aaaannnndd BOOM, the Hangar Bay doors are now open," Rhys says and hits one more button.

"Hangar Bay doors open," the mechanical voice said.

Suddenly, the console shocked Rhys and he made weird noises.

"You alright?" I ask.

"Yeah....just tingly," he replied.

"You shouldn't've hacked into Helios and tickled my alarms, pal, led me right to ya." Jack's voice came over the speakers.

"Why can't you just stay dead?!" I yell.

"I am so sick of you!" Rhys yelled.

"This hasn't exactly been a walk in the friggin' park for me either, cupcake," Jack said. I put my hands on the console and shocked him back.

"Woah, that was tingly and it hurt like hell!" He yelled.

"Alright Jack, you want to shut me out of the computer system? Fine. I'll go right to the source! Let's see how long you survive without a power core!" Rhys said. Both of us jump on the core and started damaging it.

"Oh it's going to be fun watching you get sucked out an airlock. Don't worry, I'll close the doors before pumpkin gets sucked out. Then, she can become my personal slave!" Jack laughed maniacally.

"Like hell I'm going to let you take her!" Rhys yelled and began damaging the core again. Jack blocked us but Rhys was able to stick his stun baton in an opening and shut off the protective sequence. That's when Jack opened the airlock.

"Woah!" Rhys held on for dear life along with me. His stun baton disappeared into space. Then we saw the rocket we arrived on.

"No no no no!" Rhys shouted. With one bit from me, the core of Helios was no longer working and was overriding. The airlock was shut and the pressure of the room was returning to normal.

"Now look at what you two have done!" Jack screamed.

"This place is going to fall apart. We need to get out of here fast!" I inform Rhys. An announcement came on and told everyone to head to the escape pods. Jack loses connection and we don't hear from him. We get off the core and head to the door.

"It's already closed," I said.

"Loader bot? Buddy? Are you still here?" Rhys asked over the earpiece.

"Do you need assistance?" LB asked.

"Yes! Chase and I are stuck. We need your help!" Rhys yelled desperately.

"Where is your location?" He asked.

"Central power core! Hurry!" I yell. We wait for LB to come and help us.
