Chapter Seven

~Chase's POV~

I jump after Vaughn and Rhys. My hands were glowing green.

"I hope I did this right!" I shout. I aim my palms at the two company men and put a protective field around them. I can only sustain two at a time. I'll probably end up with cuts and bruises. At least Vaughn and Rhys won't have any.

They hit the ground and just bounce in the field. I hit the ground and feel cuts forming on my legs, arms, and face. The two of them stop rolling and I keep going. I stop a few feet away from them and can barely move. I look up with what little strength I have left. They're trying to break out of the shield.

~Rhys' POV~

"Chase, undo the shield!" I begged her. She looked up weakly and lifted her arm. Then, she released the shield. Vaughn and I run over to her. She's covered in cuts and bruises.

"That was so freakin' cool, Chase!" Vaughn shouted happily.

"Can you stand?" I ask.

"Y-yeah. The only thing that's really bruised are my arms and face. Overall, I'm okay." She stood up and brushed herself off. I heard Vaughn sigh.

"The list of things that want to kill us keeps getting longer. Bandits, Skags, stroke, heat stroke, normal stroke, stroke stroke, and that pile of... dead over there," he said and nodded towards the dead Rakk Hive.

"Ive never felt so...so...ALIVE!!" He shouted. Chase covered her ears because he was right beside her.

"That's the spirit, buddy," I said. Vaughn then went on a rant on how he wasn't afraid of Hyperion anymore.

"I-I gotta pee. Not because I was scared," Vaughn walked off. Chase started twitching her eye. She sighs heavily and sits back down.

"I think you're getting a call," she said. I didn't notice and pulled up the call. It was Yvette.

~Chase's POV~

I sat with my legs crossed and rested my elbows on my knees. I put my cheeks on the palm of my hands

"Ask her for supplies!" Vaughn said while taking care of his business.

"Don't talk to me while you're peeing!" Rhys scolded. After a few more minutes, he ended the call with Yvette. After Vaughn was done, he returned and had his shirt wrapped around his head. Rhys and I stared in shock.

"Dude, do you need a doctor?" Rhys asked.

"No. Why?" Vaughn questioned.

"Because you're cut!" Rhys grinned.

"What? Where? Where am I cut?" Vaughn checked all over his body.

"No, you're fine. It's just you're....strangely buff," I said.

"Seriously buff," Rhys added.

"Wow, he's pretty yolked." I heard Jack's voice.

"Agh!" Rhys screamed and jumped. He instantly hugged me.

"Rhys, why are you hugging me?" I ask.

"Sorry. Just grabbed on to the nearest person." He slowly let me go. Jack walked over to Vaughn and examined him.

"Wow! I mean- I couldn't even get that much muscle!" Jack said.

"Who are you talking to, Rhys? We are the only three here." Vaughn sounded worried.

"Actually, there are four of us here. Handsome Jack is standing next to you," I correct him. He looks at me in disbelief.

"Chase's right." Rhys backed me up.

"Okay...prove it." Vaughn put one hand behind his back.

"How many fingers am I holding up?" He asked. I told Jack to walk behind Vaughn and see. He obeyed without any complaint.

"Well he's just scratching his ass- okay, let's move on. He's holding up three," Jack answered.

"Three," Rhys and I said in unison.
"That's-that's crazy..." Vaughan murmured.

"Okay! We aren't going to get anywhere if we just stand here all day and talk about it. We'll explain it later, Vaughn," I said and crossed my arms. I gave him a smile to tell him I wasn't mad at him for calling Rhys and I crazy.

"Yeah, you're right," Vaughn said.

"Where are we heading princess?" Jack asked me with a grin. I wanted to smack him in the face, but I held myself back.

"Anywhere but here," I said and started walking off without the three.

"Wait up!" Rhys chased after me, followed by Jack and Vaughn.

"Walking still sucks," Jack complained. I changed into a hologram and started floating. Jack noticed and was immediately enthralled.

"Who knew the princess was just like me! You're just full of surprises!" He was about to throw an arm around my shoulder, but Rhys grabbed me by my hips and put me on his other side, away from Jack.

"Wait! You can touch her and she can touch you! How come I can't?" Jack asked.

"Because Rhys made me and has the same code in his eye and arm which allows him to touch me in my hologram state. Also, I'm not like you. I'm still alive and kicking. Unlike you who has bit the dust," I snarled.

"Who knew the princess could back talk! I love it!" Jack laughed. I curled my hands into a fist.

"Stop calling me princess!" I shouted.

"Alright, fine. I'll stop calling you that.....princess," Jack grinned.

"Let's try not to kill each other before we see civilization again," Rhys said, bringing the fight to an end.

"You're right. Sorry, Rhys," I shamed away. Rhys patted my shoulder.

"Don't worry....I'll let you punch him later." My eye lit up knowing I have permission to punch Jack later. We continued walking through the scorching desert until Rhys screamed.
