Chapter Nine
-Hollow Point-
We arrived at Hollow Point and found ourselves at Scooter's. Fiona and Sasha's caravan was here for repairs.
"Come on! We own this!" Rhys tried to tell Scooter.
"Nope! I know who owns it and you ain't them!" Scooter snapped back. I saw Fiona and Sasha enter the garage with Loader Bot behind them.
"Relax, Scooter. They're our friends," Fiona said with a huge smile.
"Y-yeah," Rhys stutters. Scooter backs off and talks to Fiona. I hop in the ready-to-go caravan and everyone else falls behind. Fiona closes the door behind her and we head to Old Haven.
-Old Haven-
"Wow....it's so quiet. It's...kinda peaceful," I said as I hopped out of the caravan.
"Let's just hope there are no more bandits here," Sasha said.
"Sasha!" Fiona scolded her sister.
"So this is Old Haven?" Vaughn asked.
"It doesn't look like an Atlas facility," Rhys commented and stood next to me.
"The entrance could be hidden," Fiona said.
"Very true. After all, it's a top secret facility." I looked around the deserted mining facility. Rhys activated his ECHO-eye to see if he could find anything. He found a set of wires that must have something to do with the facility. He messed with two of them and got most of the power on.
"Where's the last one?" Rhys asked. I looked up and found it.
"Up there," I pointed with a smile. Rhys saw how high up it was and didn't budge.
"Rhys,what are yo-"
"Please! Could you get it for me?!" He begged. I was in my hologram form and I was free floating.
"Really? You can be a strong, independent man and get it yourself?" I ask.
"When you put it like that.....no." Rhys stared at me with pleading eyes.
"Fine! Just tell me if it works."
"Thank you!" He said as I floated to the console. I opened it and activated it.
"Alright! Now we're in business!" Rhys cheered. I guess it worked. He walked further into Old Haven and when he reached a certain part, the Atlas facility was rising up from the ground. It revealed a secret entrance.
"That's got to be it!" Fiona said.
"Well, it was sure....hidden," Vaughn commented. Rhys tried a catchphrase but failed.
"Let's just go," I sighed. We walked down a ramp and into a room with a statue in the middle and dead bodies everywhere.
"They're the Crimson Lance. This must be Athena's work," Sasha said. Blood painted the walls and floor. I walked off from the others before they started talking about booby traps and looked around. I saw a door with a symbol that looks like the piece Fiona has. I glanced over to the other side of the room and saw Rhys' piece on another door.
"Interesting..." I mumble. I went back to the entrance to check to see if anyone found us. I stepped over the dead bodies on the way.
"Find them!" I heard August's voice. I also heard a chuckle from a certain asshole, Vasquez. A group of running feet were charging down the ramp.
"I don't have time to warn them. I need to hide so I can help them if they get captured." I flew to the top of the Atlas statue and kneeled down so no one could see me.
"Uh, where's Chase?" Fiona asked. Vaughn and Sasha checked behind them.
"She entered with us. Where did she go?" Sasha asked. I apologized to them in my head. Rhys was running around like crazy looking for me.
"Reeze," August walked in with Vasquez and more men. Rhys was forced back to the group at gun point. They were surrounded.
"Surrounded by a bunch of assholes...." I whisper.
"I am so sick of you. Why don't you go screw someone else over on Pandora?!" Rhys yelled at Vasquez.
"Because none of them have the Gortys core," August said.
"I'm guessing that's what Rhys and Fiona picked up back at the other Atlas facility," I mumbled.
"Uh, Loader Bot! Do...uh...something!" Vaughn commanded.
"I'm helping," Loader Bot said as he was about to punch Vasquez. Loader Bot was in mid swing when Vasquez pulled out something and it stopped Loader Bot's fist right in front of his face.
"What," Loader Bot said in confusion.
"I wouldn't come down here without a universal remote." Vasquez held up a small device in his hand.
"Are you kidding me?" I asked myself.
"So...Rhys....where's Chase?" Vasquez asked.
"Like I would tell you," Rhys replied and crossed his arms.
"Send some men into town. I want her alive," Vasquez ordered. August sent six men to search the town.
"Good luck with that," I grinned. With that, it was only August, Vasquez, and two other men. Now I have a better chance to take them down. I went off into my own world thinking about a plan. When Vasquez hit Rhys, it brought me back to reality. Jack suddenly appeared.
"Woah, I had the weirdest dream. Oh, wait.....it's real," Jack said. Rhys glared at Jack from the floor.
"Oh and who is THIS princess?" Jack asked while looking at August.
"I'll take my soon-to-be-dead janitor. You take miss fancy hat," Vasquez told August. I waited for Rhys, Fiona, August, and Vasquez to leave. The two men that stayed behind aimed their weapons at Sasha and Vaughn.
"Time to shine," I giggled. I charged my hands and shocked both men on the back of the neck. They jumped up and down from the electricity passing through them. They fell face first to the ground and stopped moving.
"Thank god you're okay!" Sasha cheered when she saw me.
"I smell something burning," Vaughn said. He looked down and saw smoke coming from the men.
"Huh, I guess I used too much electrical output," I said as I glanced at the bodies.
"Where were you?" Sasha asked.
"On top of the statue. I was going to warm you about them, but I didn't have time. I decided to hide and wait for a chance to attack. Luckily, the other six are looking around Old Haven for me."
We heard a noise and saw Rhys and Fiona in the middle of the room through the window. He looked at us. When he saw me, he smiled and waved. I waved back. Then, he started freaking out. I was about to turn around but an arm latched around my neck. Something cold was being pushed against my head.
"Now Rhys is not the only one who can touch you in this state." Vasquez was the one who captured me. I was about to shock him when he suddenly shocked me with something. It caused my body to go numb.
"H-how?"
"This little remote does more than stop Loader Bots. It allows me to grab you and shock you. The only way to be able to move again is if you destroy the remote." I could tell he was grinning. He pushed the gun further into my head. It was starting to hurt.
"Stop it!" Vaughn yelled. The men who were looking for me return and restrain him. August was pointing a gun at Sasha. We watch as Rhys and Fiona try to figure out what to do.
~Fiona's POV~
"So....what do we do now?" I asked.
"No idea," Rhys replied. We look at the machine and wonder what to do. I looked up at Sasha and Vaughn. I also saw Chase with them.
"Now we don't have to worry about her," I said and put a hand on my hip.
"What?" Rhys asked.
"Just look." I gestured a hand at the window. Rhys looked and saw a smiling Chase. He smiled and waved at her. She waved back.
"Oh no..." I saw Vasquez behind Chase.
"Rhys!" I shouted.
"I know!" Rhys said and tried to warn Chase. She couldn't understand and was held at gun point.
"You bastard! If you hurt her-" Rhys yelled. Vasquez shocks her with something and she falls limp. It looks like she can't move.
"I'm going to kill him once we get out of here," he declared.
"I'll help," I said.
"Let's figure this out," he said. We looked at our pieces and then heard a voice. It said something about Gortys. The machines started to glow and moved.
"Let's push them together," I said. Rhys and I started pushing the two pieces together. In the end, we had a giant metal ball.
"What the hell is this?" I ask.
"Maybe we have to activate it." Rhys approached the object and tapped it. When he did, the metal ball fell and started to roll to the edge of the platform.
"What are you doing?!" I ask.
"D-don't worry! I caught it!" He shouted. Rhys caught the thing just in time. I sigh in relief and in annoyance. Then, a warning siren goes off. Robots surround us and everyone behind the glass.
"N-no, see? It's okay!" Rhys said and showed the ball to a robot.
"I don't think that's working," I said. Rhys gets up and the robots start circling us.
"Rhys, give it to me," I said. He handed me the metal object. I put it under one arm and pull out a homemade grenade that Felix made.
"Rhys, I need you to trust me," I said as I looked at the robots. He looked like he was debating something.
"Rhys!" I yelled his name. He snapped his head to me.
"This is the only way to make sure Chase, Vaughn, and Sasha make it out without getting hurt. Once we get out, you get Chase. I'll get Sasha and Vaughn, but I need you to trust me in order for this to work!" I yell.
"What are you going to do?" He asked. I showed him the grenade from Felix.
"What does that do?" He asked.
"No more questions! I just need to know if you trust me," I said. He kept hesitating.
"Whatever you're going to do, do it fast!" He finally yelled. A smile grew on my face. I pressed the red button on top of the grenade. I dropped it in front of us and it landed on the platform. We stare at it and waited for something to happen.
"Was that supposed to do something?" Rhys asked.
"It was supposed to explo-" I was cut off when the grenade finally went off.
