Chapter Four
~Chase's POV~
We tracked the money and ended up at an old, abandoned Atlas facility infested with bandits. Rhys was looking around with his ECHO-eye for a way in.
"Found our way in.....but it's being guarded," Rhys sighed.
"Great...." I rest my hand on my cheek.
"So, how are we going to get in, Mr. Roboto?" Sasha asked Rhys. Then, Rhys went off in his own little world and started spouting his plan.
"I've found a better way," Fiona said. Vaughn, Sasha, and I followed her down and around the guards. Rhys soon joined us.
"We found a better way down," Fiona smirked. She opened the hatch and Rhys started climbing down the ladder.
"My plan would've worked..." He said as he was descending. Shortly after, Sasha went after him.
"Chase, do you want to stay with us or go with them?" Fiona asked me.
"She should come with us," Rhys and Sasha said in unison. They looked at each other and then quickly looked away.
"I guess I'm going with them," I smiled. Fiona and Vaughn nodded. I didn't mind taking the ladder and jumped straight down.
"Woah, I wish I could do that..." I heard Sasha say.
"I didn't know you could do that!" Rhys shouted. I put a finger over my mouth to tell him to be quiet.
"Right..." He trailed off. Then, the hatch closes and we dive into darkness.
"Um, Fi, open the hatch. This isn't funny," Sasha said trying to keep calm.
"Ha ha ha, very funny, now open the damn hatch!!" Rhys yelled. No one opened the hatch. The only thing that was giving us light was my body.
"I'm really happen you came along with us, Chase," Sasha said.
"Same," Rhys stated. Sasha said something that caught my attention. She suddenly snapped at Rhys for thinking that he wanted to pick them off one-by-one just to kill them and get the money. In truth, Rhys wasn't trying to do it at all.
"Keep moving," Rhys only responded. They got off the ladder.
"You're not the one in charge here," Sasha stated.
"Then, what do we do?" I asked.
"Well..uh....keep..moving!" She said and pointed her gun at Rhys.
"I want you in front of me." Rhys obeyed and went first. An opening was coming into view. A noise grabbed my attention and I turned around. Something that resembled a carrier was speeding towards us. I pushed Sasha and Rhys against the wall. The carrier passed through me and went to the lit room. We stood at an opening to the room.
"There's the money," Rhys stated. A group of men stood on a lift and had the case in hand.
"I have a perfect shot," Sash said and aimed.
"Wait, wait, wait," Rhys said.
"What are you-" Sasha cut herself off when she saw the guards.
"Okay, you take the one on the right. I'll take the one on the left. Can you handle it?" Sasha asked.
"Of course. I took out..like...a dozen bandits earlier today," Rhys brags.
"I thought all Hyperions needed some help," Sasha snickered.
"Both of you, stop it! I'll distract the two while both of you go for the kill. Can you both handle it?" I asked floating above the two.
"Yes ma'am," they said together. I floated to the front of the room and spin around to face the guards.
"Hello, gentlemen. I am here to entertain you today," I said with a grin.
"Boss didn't say anything about free entertainment," the guard on the left said.
"It's a surprise from your boss. I'll be entertaining you both for the next five minutes," I chuckled.
"Oh, oh, oh!! What can you do?" The guard on the right asked.
"I can control electricity and I can also glow." I watch as Sasha kills the guard. The other guard didn't even notice. Now, it was Rhys' turn. He jumped on the guy and was having problems.
"Aw, Eric, is that you?" The guard asked. Rhys was still struggling. I mentally slap myself and him.
"Wait, wait, wait...is this real or is this a--this a joke?" The guard kept asking.
"Wait, wait, wait. That's not Eric," the guard realized. Sasha and I were just looking at the unbelievable scene.
"No, it's not Eric. It's your doom, so stop squirming!" Rhys yelled.
"You need some help over there?" Sasha asked while grinning.
"Sasha already took out hers. She could help, you know?" I tried to keep my laughter in.
"I got it!" Rhys replied.
"It doesn't look like that from here," Sasha and I said.
"Nope. He does not. He does not got it," the guard answered.
"Wow, even the bandit's unimpressed." Sasha crossed her arms and leaned against the railing. The bandit shook Rhys off and caused him to drop his stun baton. The bandit picked it up and started laughing.
"Ah ha ha! I got ya. Get back man," He cheered.
"Wow, nicely done," Sasha stated.
"I don't need that right now!" Rhys said with his hands up. The bandit looked at the stun baton.
"He doesn't know what it is, Rhys." After I said that, Rhys' eyes glowed with an idea.
"Let me just get that for you." Rhys leaned over and activated the baton. It shocked the bandit and he went flying. Rhys caught the baton in midair.
"Oh, come on. You cannot tell me that wasn't cool," Rhys said. Sasha and I gave him a thumbs up.
"Thank you!" He chanted. I sighed and floated towards a computer.
"Now we need to get that lift working." I looked at the computer. Sasha and Rhys soon joined me. I let Sasha use the computer but all she did was smack it.
"Woah. Calm down. I can hack it. Chase, will you help me?" He asked and I floated next to him. He entered a few codes and I did a few. In minutes, we had access to the computer.
"Ah, crap! I can't read these. They're all glitched out!" I looked over his shoulder and saw what he was talking about. Rhys selected the first one and it lowered the cages in the room.
"I would be careful about what you select next. Because one of those opens the cages. We don't want to be Skag dinner," I said. Rhys selected the bottom one.
"Wrong one!" Sasha said and started shooting the freed Skags.
"Then, it's this one!" I select the last one and the lift activates. All of us jump on and Sasha keeps firing. Rhys waved his hands trying to get her attention. One Skag was on the platform above us. She saw it and aimed.
"Dammit!" She cursed. Her gun had no more ammo.
"This isn't good," I muttered. The Skag immediately jumped and bared its fangs. Then, the Skag stops in midair and is spilling blood. After a few seconds, I saw a sword and it was going through my chest. I turned around and saw Zero. It was his sword that went through me to kill the Skag.
"Talk about perfect timing," Sasha said. Zero pulled his sword out and put it away. He turned and faced Sasha and Rhys.
"If you see a a Gortys core, would you tell me?" He asked. We all were shocked that he asked something.
"Uh...yeah...will do," Rhys said. I saw a red glow near Zero's face and what looked like a happy face appeared.
"Talk about your emotions showing on your face," I smirked. Then, he vanished. After our brief conversation with Zero, the lift arrived at its destination.
"You've got to be kidding me," Rhys said. I saw that Bossanova was suspended above us and he was holding the Hyperion briefcase.
"Rhys. Sasha," I said and pointed at it.
"Great, how are we going to get it back?" Sasha asked.
"I could float up there and get it." I was about to take off when Rhys grabbed my wrist.
"Way too dangerous, Chase," he said.
"If she thinks she can get it, let her," Sasha said, taking my side. Rhys' grip loosened a little and I slipped away. He was jumping as I high as he could to grab my hand but I was too far away. Bossanova was too busy announcing to notice me. I went behind him and grabbed the case.
"Hey!" He shouted. I moved out of his reach and stuck my tongue out. I was about to head back when I saw Vaughn and Fiona.
"What are they doing?!" I freak out. Fiona was defending herself but Vaughn was struggling.
"I need to help him."
