Chapter Eighteen
~Chase's POV~
"Fiona, let's head back. Everyone's probably worried. We can also send out Scooter's message," I said. She nods and we head back. I flew through the ceiling and accidentally ran right into Rhys. Of course, being the only one who can touch me in this form, I smacked my face right on his chest and floated backwards.
"Ow...." I float on my back and hold my face.
"Ha- I mean....are you okay?" Rhys asked. I fly up and pinch his arm.
"Ouch!" He whined like a two-year-old.
"What happened up there?" Sasha asked.
"Scooter sacrificed himself to save us. He's a hero," Fiona responded. She picked up his DAHL.
"This is what he deserves." Fiona typed on the DAHL and tossed it out in space. I watched as it opened.
'Catch-A-Ride' was seen at the bottom. The display also had a picture of Scooter.
"Identify yourselves." A voice broke the silence. I immediately looked at Rhys. He quickly got up and called in.
"Hugo Vasquez. I'm back," he said in Vasquez's voice. After a long conversation, we finally were able to land. I helped Rhys with the container that had Vasquez's real body in it. We're hoping people will think it's Rhys' body. We even put his name on the front.
"Good luck, Rhys," I said and was about to go back to the ship. He grabbed my hand and stared into my eyes.
"Could...um...could you come with me? Yvette would recognize you and maybe you can tell her about me," he said.
"How about I pretend to betray you and I was the one to kill you? We have no idea if she's still on our side," I suggested.
"Or..that...that could work, too," Rhys said and let my hand go.
"Then, let's go...Vasquez," I said and he lead the way. We were stopped by two guards.
" 'Sup, ladies. Talking about boys?" Rhys asked the guards. I face palm myself at his question. I ignore the rest of the conversation because it was too painful to listen to. We wanted to pass, but they wouldn't let us through. Then, Yvette arrived on the painful scene.
"Let them through," she commanded. Yvette went to the container and checked it.
"Take it to be scanned," she ordered. The guards took the container and left.
"What were you thinking?! His body was supposed to be in one piece!" She yelled at Vasquez. Rhys and I were confused.
"We had a deal and that was to bring Rhys back in one whole dead piece!" She shouted. Rhys and I looked at each other. I knew he was thinking the same thing.
"And Chase, I thought you and Rhys were a thing. What happened?" She asked with anger.
"I was actually the one to kill him, not Vasquez. We had some trouble collecting the body. A psycho with a bomb stuck to his chest exploded right next to Rhys' dead body and it went everywhere," I said.
"Chase, I want to talk to Vasquez in private. Could you leave?" She crossed her arms. I pretended to leave and hid behind some cargo.
"I'm taking you to management so you can explain this." Yvette grabbed Rhys by the arm and pulled him down.
"And hopefully, they'll get rid of you," she said.
"If I go down, I'm taking you with me," Vasquez responded in a deep voice. Yvette let go of Rhys and took a couple of steps back.
"If you don't think I have my ass covered, then you don't know Hugo Vasquez," Rhys snapped. Yvette didn't say another word and Rhys left. He glanced at me before he went through the door and vanished from sight.
"All right, let's head to Vasquez's office." I went through the wall and traveled to his office.
"Hey, Chase. It's been awhile!" An old friend greeted me.
"I heard what you did to Rhys. Man, that was cold hearted of you. After all, he did create you," he said.
"I don't have time for idle chat. I'm needed somewhere else." I flew pass him and found Vasquez's office.
"Go, destroy and lay waste to all, my son," I heard Jack say. I was about to go through when I found something on the floor. It looked like Jack's face. I picked it up and thought of something.
"Oh, this will be too good." I went to the office beside Vasquez's and flew through the wall. I was right behind Rhys and Jack. They were too busy messing with the computer.
"And....we're in!" Rhys cheered. I held up the mask and tapped him on the shoulder. He spun around in the chair.
"Aahhh!!" He screamed and fell out of the chair. I grabbed my sides because they started hurting from all the laughing.
"Way too easy to scare you," I said and wiped tears away.
"Yeah, and it was with my face. I feel a little insulted," Jack said.
"Where the hell did you find that thing, Chase?" Rhys asked while rubbing his head. I threw it in the trash can.
"I found it outside the door. I have no clue where it's from or whose it is." I helped him off the floor and sat him back down in the computer chair
"Rhys, I can't get into Jack's office," Fiona voice said over the earpiece.
"What? Why not?" He asked.
"Some idiot on the tour triggered the security before it was disabled," Fiona replied.
"We can't disable it from here," I said.
"Someone figured out we were hacking in and shut us out," Rhys said.
"What's he doing in there? Move out of the way!"
"Uh oh, it's Yvette," I said. Rhys hung up with Fiona. He pulled me by the arm and put me under the desk.
"Rhys, I can go through things, remember?" I asked like he was an idiot.
"Oh yeah....heh, forgot," he chuckled. Then, the office door opened.
"What are you doing in here? This is my office now," Yvette said with her voice full of anger.
"Also, you gave me the wrong dead body! How did that happen?" She asked.
"We had some problems and grabbed the wrong one. What's the big deal?" Rhys asked in Vasquez's voice.
"The big deal is that he could still be alive!" She yelled at him. I flew out from under the desk.
"Where did you come from?" She asked.
"I was going to ask Vasquez something and went through the floor. Got a problem with that?" I asked with my arms crossed.
"Also, Rhys is dead. I'm the one who killed him." I sat on the edge of the desk. Jack flew over and sat next to me. He started to get closer and closer.
"Why did you betray him?" She asked.
"I could ask the same thing," I fired back. Then, I shoved Jack off the desk. He landed on his face. I stared back at Yvette and saw a frown growing on her face.
"I don't care. I just want you both out of my office. I'm calling security." She walked to the corner of the room and contacted them. Rhys looked over at me for help.
"Talk to her. It'll keep you from being found out and it'll give us more time than using the stun baton. Just don't let it slip that you're Rhys," I whispered the last part.
Rhys walked over and talked it out with Yvette. Once he was done, she had a scared look on her face and left. We left the office and walked down the halls of Hyperion.
