Pain..
Anusha, a 12 year old, bubbly kind of girl was sitting alone in a corner of her room. Tears were profusely coming out of her eyes. Suddenly, she heard some footsteps and in order to hide her tears, she wiped them off. Someone opened the door of her room and when she looked at the person, she had a sigh of relief to see the person standing in front of her.
The person was her mother who had come inside to ask for dinner apparently, but on having a look at Anusha's face, she understood that something was wrong with her daughter. She sat down besides Anusha and started patting her head.
Anusha looked at her mother. Love, care and worry was clearly visible in her eyes.
But she didn't want to bother her mother so, she tried to sound cheerful and said,"Hey mom, I know its dinner time. I, I was just coming out in the dining area.."
But alas, mothers are mothers.. How can someone hide their pain from their mother??
Anusha's mother just came and hugged her and said,"Shhh baby.. I know that you are in pain. I can see it in your eyes. Tell me what's wrong?"
Listening to her mother, Anusha's voice faltered a little, though she tried to sound confident enough,"Nothing is wrong maa. Everything is fine."
Her mother didn't say anything but held her hand. She wasn't going to force her daughter to say anything, but she wasn't going to leave her side either.
Although her mother's company was providing a great degree of comfort, but still the tears silently poured out of her eyes.
But soon, Anusha broke down completely in front of her mother and narrated the whole scenario while crying,"Maa, while I was returning home from school, two guys came on their bikes and threw acid on a girl who was walking right in front of me and sped away. I was so shocked and terrified at that point Maa."
Listening to her, her mother's eyes widened and her hold on Anusha's hand tightened. But Anusha didn't stop this time. All that she had seen that day was too much to hold inside her.
"She was shouting and crying in pain. But no one on the road was ready to help her. She was in so much pain mom. My whole group of friends went near her and washed her face with the water that we had with ourselves. But that wasn't sufficient to cure her. It was ACID. Her skin was deteriorating in front of our eyes as if plastic was being burnt. It was a horrible sight to view maa. I was trembling from head to toe on seeing her", Anusha said while crying hard.
Her mother enveloped her in her arms and tried to soothe her,"I know it was a terrible sight dear. But did you people call for an ambulance?"
Anusha nodded,"I can't even imagine how much pain she was going through at that time. We called for ambulance and she is in hospital now. But we will never be able to forget that scene. I just hope that she gets well soon."
"She will be fine baby. God will give her strength to fight all that pain. We will go to the hospital to see her tomorrow. Now stop thinking about what happened today. I am proud of my lovely daughter that she tried to reduce someone else's pain today", her mother said while placing a kiss on her forehead and hugged her again.
