Oh Yes, I am a Prostitute!!

While scribbling some important points in her notebook, Reshma's pen stopped working. Looking at her pen, she frowned. It was the last pen that she had but her homework was still pending.

She could hardly manage to pay her school fees as she was an orphan. But she loved reading and writing and wanted to learn more and more about the world and things that happen in it. Although she could not afford it, but she had seen a big dream- dream to lead a respectful life and for that, she needed education. So whatever money she earned, a major portion of it was utilised in paying her school fees.

So she thought of buying a new pen. But for that she would have to step out of her home. Just the thought of stepping out of her home made her shiver.

Maybe because the place which was home for her was actually a place which the high society people refered to as 'A Brothel'. But it was home to her since it was the only place which gave shelter to her when the circumstances forced her to sleep on the footpath under the vast sky. At that time, that footpath was her home and sky was the ceiling of her huge house. But one day, Chitra Amma brought her to this place.

Brothel- A place where high class people who are rich in values don't ever step in. A place, listening whose name only rises the temperature of the blood running in their nerves . But this place only gave her food to eat when she was starving. At that time, none of those people helped her.

And living in such a place, she wasn't the one for whom she could see any respect in other person's eyes. Instead, she saw lust or hatred for her in others' eyes. And maybe that was the reason that she was afraid of stepping in the open market.

Still, summoning all her courage, she stepped out but while returning to her home, a drunkard who was roaming in the street at that time shouted at her,"Hey, you whore.. I am free tonight. Wanna spend the night with me??"

Listening to that sentence, she looked at that person who was looking at her with greedy eyes and a smirk on his face. Looking at his eyes, her body started shivering. He was looking as if he would eat every part of her body right there. And then she looked at the passers by who were now gossiping about her, looking at her with hatred.

A tear trickled down her eyes and she started heading towards the brothel. It was her reality indeed. Regularly she was humiliated by some or the other person when she tried to live her life like a normal and innocent girl of her age.

As she was moving ahead, that drunkard came behind her and held her wrist and again shouted," Aaaeee.. To whom are you showing your attitude? Don't you know who I am? How did you dare to move away when I am calling you? You are a Prostitute and you will always be a Prostitute. No use of pretending to be an innocent girl."

Reshma had heard enough by then. She turned and slapped that man hard and said ," YES, I AM A PROSTITUTE. But that doesn't mean that I can't live a normal life. Maybe the world doesn't respect me but I do have some SELF RESPECT. And You know what, I am proud to be a prostitute. Yes, you heard that right. I am proud to be a prostitute. Because the animals like you satisfy yourselves, satisfy your thirst, your hunger by using US- THE WHORES. And in this way, we help million of innocent girls around the world from becoming a pray to the hunger of beasts like you. Yes, I am a
prostitute and I am proud to be one.. "
And she fell on the road while crying and shouting her heart out.

A/N: Happy Women's Day People!
I know, when everyone tends to speak about the sacrifices made by women and the amount of work they do for us, this is something different. But I just wanted to draw attention towards a those women who are least respected by the society.

Do we really have the right to judge them? Everyone is going through a different war, and so are they.

Thanks for reading.
