Tale 2: Leni the Cleric of the Gods
Here's another chapter, enjoy!
The Holy Kingdom of Eluut, a kingdom that was established along with the Royal Woods Kingdom. In the Ocean Canyon, a beautiful canyon range where waterfalls can be seen everywhere, a large white structure stands in the center of it with a long bridge connecting the castle-like structure.
Within this castle of white, youths are trained not in ways of combat, but in ways of healing. Crafting healing tonics, practicing holy magic, and the like. Within the castle that is the home of the Holy Kingdom of Eluut, the number of residents has decreased recently due to a rise in war and battles.
The kings of many kingdoms have demanded their healing arts and potions so many of the masters and even the students have been forced to leave the Holy Kingdom and go out to do their holy duties. Even the King of the Royal Woods Kingdom has also requested the healing arts.
So the kingdom was quiet as very few Clerics and alchemists remained. A group of Knights carrying a kingdom's flag, it was a blue flag with a large silvery T with a dagger shape on it.
Knight Captain: Attention Healers of Eluut! The Kingdom of Tetherby is issuing a draft for more healers!
Then a priestess approached the knights. She was a slightly tall young woman with long platinum blonde hair, and black eyes, and possesses a graceful figure. She wears a silver headband, red hoop earrings, a dark green cape with the Holy Kingdom's crest, a seafoam green shirt with an army green vest, a gold belt with a seafoam green gem, gray gloves, a green cloth around her waist, black shorts and thigh length red and gray boots. She was carrying a mystic-looking gold staff with a green gem.
Priestess: My name is Leni, I am currently in charge of the Holy Church while Pope Mars is away.
The knight captain didn't seem too happy about Leni being in charge.
Knight Captain: What sort of man leaves a woman in charge... Regardless, we are in need of healers. Bring out your alchemists and priests.
Leni: Apologises but we don't have any alchemists or priests left to send out into battle.
The knight captain looked up at some students looking down at them. He smirked as she pointed up at them.
Knight Captain: Then who are they? Hiding healers ordered by the king is a criminal act.
Leni: They are the students of the Holy Kingdom of Eluut. They aren't ready to try healing soldiers or create healing tonics.
Knight Captain: They can receive on-site training.
Leni: I highly doubt King Tetherby would want trainees that barely know how to cast Heal or create a healing tonic.
The knight then got down from his horse to look Leni in the face.
Knight Captain: I'm getting sick of being ridiculed by a woman! We are taking those Healers and that's final!
The knight captain raised his hand and swung at Leni, but Leni caught his hand and stopped his assault.
Leni: I believe I made myself clear that they are not ready to leave and I am in charge. So as I said,
The knight captain's eyes flared with anger as he swung again, but Leni, again, stopped his hand from hitting her.
Knight Captain: Enough! We are taking those healers, by force if need be!
The Knight Captain stepped forward and attempted to push Leni out of the way.
Leni: Light Ray!
Light Ray - A Mid-Tier Spell belonging to Clerics and Sorcerers. The user calls down a beam of holy light down on their target.
Suddenly a beam of light fired down from the sky. The knight captain backed away as the beam drew a line between Leni and the knights. Leni then stepped over the line.
Leni: You shall not come any closer to the students of this Holy Kingdom.
Knight Captain: What are you-!? Bah, never mind! Attack! We're taking the healers! Archers!
Several Archers pulled back the bowstrings to shoot their arrows. Leni put her hands together.
Leni: I give my Prayer to Ninlil. Grant me your blessing!
Prayer - A Low Tier Skill belonging to Clerics. The cleric will pray to the gods for a blessing, a temporary ability that's unique for every god prayed to. Normally, clerics can only pray to one god, otherwise, their calls go unanswered.
Suddenly, a barrier of wind formed around Leni, the archers fired their arrows but the wind barrier deflected them.
Leni: The Blessing of Ninlil, Goddess of the Wind will not allow your arrows to harm me.
Blessing of Ninlil, Goddess of the Wind - Allows the blessed to call upon a strong wind to deflect projectiles.
Knight Captain: She's just a Cleric! She can only pray to god and heal! Knights! Attack!
Several knights hopped off their horses and charged at Leni, who kept her hands together.
Leni: I give my Prayer to Vahagn. Grant me your blessing!
Leni's body glowed red and swung her staff, sending several knights flying.
Knight of Tetherby 1: What?!
Knight of Tetherby 2: How can this woman call upon more than one god!?
Knight of Tetherby 3: Holy... Her Staff! It's a Gift! It's the Staff of the Gods!
Knight of Tetherby 4: That can let her call upon all the gods!
Knight Captain: Shut up and fight!
Leni: The Blessing of Vahagn, God of Strength is with me. You shall not pass!
Blessing of Vahagn, God of Strength - Allows the blessed to call upon the power of thirty men.
Several knights continued to run to attack Leni but were all stopped by her powerful swings. Leni then raised her hands and her wind barrier grew in size. Several knights continued to run to attack Leni but were all stopped by her powerful swings. Weapons were shattered, their armor was broken, and some knights were unable to stand after being struck by Leni's swings.
Knight of Tetherby 1: She's stronger than a normal Cleric! We don't stand a chance against her!
Knight of Tetherby 2: How is it we've never heard of this Cleric before?
Knight of Tetherby 3: Holy... Her Staff! It's a Gift! It's the Staff of the Gods! It lets her call upon all of the gods!
Knight Captain: Dammit! I refuse to be beaten by a woman! Attack!
The knight captain looked to see that his knights were running away instead of attacking.
Knight Captain: Where are you going?! Fight back!! She's a healer and woman, not a fighter!!
Leni: I believe it's time to finish this.
The Knight Captain found Leni approaching him, he was on his own against her.
Knight Captain: Grrr! I am the Knight Captain of the Tetherby Kingdom! I will not be humiliated by some woman!
The Knight Captain charged at Leni, swinging his sword. Leni swung her staff and it shattered the Knight Captain's sword and slammed into his chest. The Knight Captain was sent tumbling back, his sword and armor shattered from Leni's blow. He tried to get up, slamming his fist against the ground.
Knight Captain: Dammit!
Leni: The Gods have given me their Blessings and Favors, you have no power here and you've been disarmed. Leave the holy church!
The Knight Captain gritted his teeth as he was defeated by Leni.
Knight Captain: I'll remember this, wench! I'll be back with the king's top guard! You won't shame the Kingdom of Tetherby!
???: Like what you've been doing?
The Knight Captain and Leni looked down the bridge to see a pale old woman in black priestess attire with golden accents and holding a large book.
Leni: Pope Mars!
Knight Captain: The Current Pope is a woman!? Who the hell let a woman be pope!?
Pope Mars: And why can't a woman be pope? This is why I've called back my healers from The Kingdom of Tetherby. Your blatant sexism and mistreatment of my pupils.
Knight Captain: What!? The king will not stand for this!
Pope Mars shows the knight captain a letter with a golden crest on it.
Knight Captain: This crest.
Pope Mars: From King Tetherby himself, he's agreed to send back all my healers and will only be getting healing tonics. You're not even supposed to be here.
Knight Captain: But!
Pope Mars: I understand that it's a time of war but this is an order from your king, now leave my church and never return!
The Knight Captain was outraged as he was dismissed by Pope Mars. The knight captain left in a rage, getting on his horse and riding away.
Leni: Well, Pope Mars.
Pope Mars: Thank you, Leni, I will not stand for the mistreatment of the healers of the Holy Kingdom of Eluut.
Pope Mars sighed deeply.
Pope Mars: But I can't overlook someone breaking the rules.
Leni lowered her head in shame.
Leni: No fighting in god's sacred domain.
Pope Mars: I cannot turn a blind eye, punishment is dealt as equally as the judgement of the gods.
Leni lowered her head in shame.
Leni: No fighting in god's sacred domain.
Pope Mars: I cannot turn a blind eye, punishment is to be dealt with as equally as the judgment of the gods.
Pope Mars placed a hand on Leni's shoulder.
Pope Mars: Leni, I hereby banish you from the Holy Kingdom, until you have gained more respect for the gods' domain and its rules, you cannot return.
Leni bowed her head, she knew this would happen if she fought the knights this would happen but she protected the students of Eluut. She simply raised her head with pride as she walked away knowing she protected her friends in the church.
Pope Mars: Allow me to make a suggestion of where you should go.
Leni stopped in shock at Pope Mar's words, she turned to her to listen.
Pope Mars: You know that your true family had you left you here as a baby.
Leni: Yes, while I am sad I never got to know who my family was, I do not blame them, everyone has their reason for doing things and it was my fate to be taken to the Holy Kingdom.
Pope Mars: Then go to Midrock Hills, there you will find your siblings.
Leni brightened up as she turned to leave the holy church. Pope Mars watched her leave, she smiled.
Pope Mars: May the gods give you strength Leni.
***
Leni now stood staring confusingly at a map of the Holy Kingdom. She saw a small hill area called Midrock Hills. It was far out in the west of the Holy Kingdom, yet somehow Leni was now on the far east of the Holy Kingdom, opposite where Midrock Hills was.
Leni: I should've asked for directions... I can't navigate myself anywhere... even this map is confusing... hm...
Leni went over to a small river near her and walked down to it. She washed her face and checked her surroundings, while she couldn't see anything, she could definitely hear something.
Leni followed the sounds of clashing metal and shouting, she could hear the clash of swords, the clang of armor, and the whir of arrows grow louder and louder. Until she came across a group of knights fighting a group of bandits, with a carriage in the middle of the fighting. The carriage had no driver nor horses to pull it until she saw hoof prints and a man with an arrow in his stomach. She went over to check on him, he was bleeding profusely and losing a lot of blood.
Leni: That man is losing a lot of blood. I should help him. Mana Jump.
Mana Jump - A Spell belonging to most magic classes. The user uses their mana to teleport to any point they can see. As long as they have a clear view of that point they can teleport to it.
Leni glowed for a moment before disappearing, she reappeared beside the injured driver.
Driver: How-
Leni covered the man's mouth and shushed him.
Leni: Shhh... I'm here to heal you. Aports.
Aports - A low-tier Spell belonging to the Clerics The user can teleport small objects in range into their hand. The object must be able to be held in one hand for the spell to work.
The arrow in the driver's side disappeared and reappeared in Leni's hand. She then put her other hand over his wound.
Leni: Heal.
Heal - A Low Tier Spell belonging to the Cleric class. A spell that does what the name indicates, wtf do you expect? Through god's graces, it can also cure other ailments, depending on the god depends on what aliment it cures.
The driver was blanketed in a green light as his wound slowly closed itself until he was completely fine.
Driver: Thank you, I... I don't know what happened... Bandits attacked us, my horse went crazy and ran in the wrong direction... but thank you...
Leni: What else can you tell me, is there anyone in the carriage?
Driver: Yes... There is a lady in the carriage, I don't know who she is, but I do know she's nobility.
Leni: Okay, go find your horse, I'll help the knights.
The driver left while the bandits were busy attacking the knights. Leni went over to the knights, they had several injuries, broken arrows in them, and many were covered in bandit blood. Leni: Aports! Mass Heal!
Mass Heal - A Mid Tier Spell belonging to Clerics and Witches. Same as Heal but on multiple people.
The arrows were teleported to Leni's hand then she created a blanket of green light that quickly restored the knights' vitality and bodies.
Bandit 1: Where'd the hell that healer come from!?
Knight 1: Thank you, Cleric! This won't take but a moment! Forward!
The knights, restored back to full health, charged at the bandits, who were still worn from having done the little damage they could to the knights before Leni showed up. The bandits were struck down by the knights, many tried to run but none got away, in a matter of seconds the bandits were dead and the knights all had a smile on their faces. Soon the driver also returned with his horse and re-strapped it to the carriage.
Knight 1: Thank you again, Cleric.
Leni: My name is Leni, I was happy to help.
Knight 2: If there is anything we can do to repay you just let us know.
Leni: Well, you see, I was only here because I got lost. I'm trying to get to Midrock Hills.
Knight 1: I see. Well, we have a map and compass if that will help.
Woman: She can take my Mana Compass.
The knights bowed as the woman in the carriage stepped out. She had long pale braided blond hair with two long fringes and brown eyes. She wears a long-sleeved high-neck white dress with brown spear linings at the edge of her skirt and a long red cape.
Knight 1: Princess Agrias! That's not necessary!
Leni: Princess Agrias? Like the princess of the Harriet Kingdom?
Princess Agrias: Yes, I was visiting the Hazelturkey Kingdom to establish trade routes. Here.
Princess Agrias then took out a strange-looking mechanical compass.
Princess Agrias: This is a Mana Compass. It's a compass infused with alchemy focusing on magnetics and magic crystals. It can take you anywhere so long as you know the name of your destination.
Leni took the Mana Compass in her hand, the red part of the needle suddenly pointed west by southwest.
Leni: I only took it and it knows where I want to go.
Princess Agrias: Simply follow its direction and you'll get to where ever you want.
Leni: Thank you. I'll be sure to return it if we meet again.
Princess Agrias: Please, keep it. You saved my people's lives. It's the least I could do.
The Princess and her knights went off as Leni followed the Mana Compass' directions.
To Be Continued...
That's all for this chapter, I hope you enjoyed it! Leave questions in the comments. Bye for now!
