How Does a Moment Last Forever?
Maurice opened his eyes and found himself in his bed, Beal tending to him and Y/n looking over him worriedly, squeezing his hand. "Beal...? Y/n...? Where's...?"
"Shh," Beal shushed. "It's alright, Papa, we're home. I put Clarice to bed."
Realizing he had them back, Maurice leaned forward, pulling them both into a hug. "I thought I'd never see you again."
"We missed you so much," Y/n said, squeezing back.
He pulled away, asking seriously, "But the beast? How did you escape?"
"He let us go," Beal said, remembering the sad look on his face.
"That horrible beast?!" he demanded.
"Oh, no, no, sir, he's not horrible at all," Y/n said quickly, trying to get him to calm down again. Plus...she did not really care for anyone talking about Adam as a 'beast'.
"He's different now, Papa," Beal agreed. "He's...changed, somehow." He blended at Y/n, who did not notice, knowing who really changed him.
Y/n grabbed Beal's bag, hearing a noise, and opened it. The mirror fell out, along with Chip. "Hi!" he greeted cheerfully.
"Oh, a stowaway," Beal chuckled.
"Why, hello there, little fella. Didn't think I'd see you again."
He hopped to look at Beal and Y/n. "Guys? Why'd you go away? Don't you like us anymore?"
"Oh, Chip, of course we do. Is just that -" Y/n's mouth shut when they all heard a knock.
"I'll get it." Beal got up and opened the door, a look of confusion replacing his smile when he saw the owner of the asylum, D'arque. "May I help you?"
"I've come to collect your father." [FROLLO]
"My father?" he repeated with offense.
"Don't worry, monsieur. We'll take good care of him." He stepped to the side, showing that the wagon had come to take him away.
"My father's not crazy!"
"What's going on?" Y/n asked, coming over.
Lefou came out with a torch, repeating almost robotically, "He was raving like a lunatic. We all heard him, didn't we?"
"Yes!" everyone else yelled out, far more enthusiastically.
"No, I won't let you!" Beal tried again, standing in front of his doorway.
Maurice peeked out from behind the two. "Beal? Y/n?"
Woken up by the noise, Clarice stayed inside, peeking out through the window.
"Maurice," Lefou continued, only his mouth moving. Now it really did sound like he was reading from a script. "Tell us again, old man. Just how big was the beast?"
Trying his best to remember, he can't out with a figure. "Well, he was...that is...enormous! I'd say at least eight...no, more like ten feet tall!"
The crowd laughed, except for Lefou and Gaston, who watched from the shadows.
"You don't get much crazier than that," Lefou mumbled before walking back off into the crowd, realizing what he has just sentenced Maurice to.
"It's true, I tell you!" Maurice begged as he was taken away. "Let go of me!"
"No!" Beal grabbed into D'arque's shoulder. "You can't do this!"
He pulled away and walked off. Not giving up, Beal followed, leaving Y/n. She watched before a hand slithered around her shoulder. "Poor Y/n. It's a shame about Beal's father."
She clung onto Gaston's shirt, begging, "Your know he's not crazy, Gaston."
He hummed, rubbing his cheek in thought. "I might be able to clear up this little misunderstanding...if..."
"If what?" she asked innocently.
"If you marry me."
Overhearing, Beal was already making his way back over.
Disgusted, she tried to move out of his grasp. "What?"
"One little word, Y/n. That's all it takes." Gaston pulled her closer to him again, until she pushed him away.
"Never!"
Beal grabbed onto her, drawing her close to his chest. "She's already with me!"
Red in the face, he yelled, " Have it your way! I'll finish you off later, beta!"
"Beal?! Y/n?!" Maurice cried. "Let go of me!"
Y/n ran back in and grabbed the mirror, then back out, making herself look tall. "His father's not crazy and I can prove it! Show me Adam!"
The mirror flashed again. In pain, the girl turned it away from her, letting the crowd see Adam, still roaring in depression. They all gasped when they saw him, except for Beal, who facepalmed. "That was the dumbest decision you could've made."
True to Beal's predictions, the townspeople ran up to her, asking a million questions a minute.
"Is it dangerous?" a woman asked.
"Oh, no, no. He'd never hurt anyone. Please, I know he looks vicious, but he's really kind and gently." Smiling at the mirror, she added, "He's our friend."
Noticing her looking at it like that, Gaston accused, "If I didn't know any better, I'd think you had feelings for the monster."
Y/n drew the mirror back to her chest, sending Gaston a death glare. "He's no monster, Gaston. You are!"
Growling at her, he swiped the mirror away. "She's as crazy as the old man is! A crazy, cheating whore!"
"No, she would never!" Beal yelled back, stepping up, but he was drowned out by Gaston, who shoved him back down.
"The beast will make off with your children! He'll come after them in the night!"
"No!" Y/n begged.
"We're not safe 'till his head's mounted on my wall!"
Lefou then stepped up and said timidly, "Gaston, with all due respect -"
He glared at him, asking, "Do you want to be next in the looney bin?"
He shrunk back, letting Gaston keep pumping up the crowd.
"I say we kill the beast!"
"Kill him!" the crowd cheered.
Tom:
We're not safe until he's head
Dick:
He'll come stalking us at night
Jean:
Set to sacrifice our children to his monstrous appetite
Clothide:
He'll wreak havoc on our village if we let him wander free
Gaston:
So it's time to take some action, boys, it's time to follow me!
Through the mist, through the wood,
Through the darkness and the shadows
It's a nightmare, but it's one exciting ride
Say a prayer, then we're there
At the drawbridge of a castle
And there's something truly terrible inside
He showed them Adam again, who had calmed, but still looked horrifying.
Gaston:
It's a beast! He's got fangs! Razor sharp ones
He pulled at Lefou's lower lip in an example.
Gaston:
Massive paws, killer claws for the feast
Hear him roar! See him foam! But we're not coming home 'till he's dead!
GOOD AND DEAD!
Chorus:
KILL THE BEAST!
"No!" Y/n grabbed at his wrist, trying to pry the mirror into her fingers. "I won't let you do this!"
"If you're not with us, you're against us!" Then, he demanded, "Bring the beta and his old man!"
The officials threw Maurice and Beal in.
"Get your hands off of us!"
"Papa!" Beal groped his way over to him as Gaston threw Y/n in, then locked the door.
She banged on it, screaming, "Let us out!"
"We'll rid the village of this beast! Who's with me?!"
"I am!" the crowd chorused. Gaston mounted his horse and they began their march out of town, the women and children watching as the went.
Chorus:
Light your torch, mount your house
Gaston:
Screw your courage to the sticking place
Chorus:
We're counting on Gaston to lead the way
Gaston:
Call it war, call it threat
You can bet they all will follow,
For in times like this, they'll do just what I say
Lefou lagged behind a little, looking back at the asylum carriage.
Lefou:
There's a beast running wild, no question,
But I fear the wrong monster's released
Chorus:
Sally forth! Tally ho!
Grab your sword! Grab your bow!
Praise the Lord and here we go!
"WE'LL LAY SIEGE TO HIS CASTLE AND BRING BACK HIS HEAD!"
-
"We have to warn Adam!" Beal, at this point, was helping Y/n try to brake down the door until she slid down, hopeless.
"This is all my fault. Oh, what are we gonna do?"
Beal pulled her into a hug while Maurice pat her shoulder, trying to be comforting. "Now, now. We'll think of something."
Chip and Clarice looked out the window, trying to think of something, until she whispered something to Chip, who gasped with a smile and nodded.
-
Chorus:
We don't like what we don't understand
In fact, it scares us
And this monster is mysterious at least
Bring your guns! Bring your knives!
Save your children and your wives!
We'll save our village and our lives!
WE'LL KILL THE BEAST!
-
"I knew it, I knew it was foolish to get our hopes up," Cogsworth was still grumbling hours later.
"Maybe it would have been better if they had never come at all." Lumière crossed his arms, sticking his head up into the air.
Sultan came over, barking about something outside.
"Could it be?" Lumière wondered hopefully.
"Is it them?" Mrs. Potts hopped over with them. The sight they were greeted with was the mob.
"Sacre bleu! Invaders!"
"Encroaches!"
"And they have the mirror!"
Cogsworth was already giving out orders. "Warn the master. If it's a fight they want, we'll be ready for them. Who's with me?!" The door slammed behind him. "AHHH!"
-
Gaston looked up at the castle, still enraged as he thought of the beast and Y/n actually together. Beal was bad enough, but if he were human, he would absolutely be a 'man'.
"Take whatever booty you can find. But remember: The beast is mine!"
-
Servants:
Hearts ablaze, banners high
We go marching into battle
Unafraid, although the danger's just increased
-
Chorus:
Raise the flag, sing a song
Here we come, we're fifty strong
And fifty Frenchmen can't be wrong!
KILL THE BEAST!
The villagers kept trying to break down the door, crying, "Kill the beast!" each time.
-
"Pardon me, Master," Mrs. Potts tried, approaching.
"Leave me in peace," he sulked, hiding himself behind his cape.
"But, sir! The castle is under attack!"
-
"KILL THE BEAST! KILL THE BEAST!"
-
The objects stood in front of the door, pushing against it to keep the villagers from coming in. After what seemed to be forever standing there, Lumière exclaimed, "This isn't working!"
"Oh, Lumière! We must do something!" Fifi cried.
His candles relit in thought. "Wait! I know!"
-
"KILL THE BEAST! KILL THE BEAST!"
-
"What shall we do, Master?" Mrs. Potts asked, still frightened.
"It doesn't matter now..." He looked out the window, pain still in his eyes. "Just let them come..."
-
"KILL THE BEAST! KILL THE BEAST! KILL THE BEAST!"
The door finally caved in. The villagers walked in, torches still ablaze.
"Are you not the least boy concerned that this castle might be haunted?" Lefou whispered to Gaston.
"Don't lose your nerve, Lefou."
He stopped in front of a tea set, looking down upon it, chuckling. "You must be the talking teacups." His eyes moved to the teapot. "And you must be their grandmother."
Mrs. Potts' eyes flew open, offended. "Grandmother?! ATTACK!"
-
Clarice blew into the fire, fueling the woodcutting machine. "Yes!" she cheered, backing up so that Chip could drive it down.
"Here we go!"
-
Maurice peered out one of the carriage's windows, noticing something moving towards them. "What the devil...?" Eyes wide when he saw the axe, he pushed the two out of the way, diving with them. "Beal, Y/n, look out!"
They got out just in time as the axe hopped through the carriage, the machine breaking, Chip dangling from a spring. "You guys gotta try this thing."
-
One of the men looked around for an object to attack, his attention being diverted to up above when he heard someone cry, "Up here, ya scurvy scum! Now!" Mrs. Potts directed her children to pour hot tea on him with her, the man screaming.
A coatrack went for Gaston, but he grabbed Lefou and shoved him in front, the coatrack now punching him instead of Gaston. When he was finished, he threw him to the ground.
Before Lefou could process what Gaston had just done to him - him! - the wardrobe jumped from the staircase, letting out a cry, and onto Lefou's legs, crushing them. He groaned in pain, reaching for Gaston. "Gaston...!"
But Gaston just watched with a stoned face.
"Gaston...help..."
"Sorry, old friend. It's hero time." He stepped away from him and towards the staircase.
The wardrobe finally got up, letting Lefou pull himself up, his legs not completely broken. Once he was sitting, however, Fifi came over, brushing herself in his face. "No one to protect you now, huh?"
But all he could do was swat at her as the tears silently fell.
Noticing her, Tom picked Fifi up and began to pull at her feathers, which Lumière noticed. He got behind Tom and blew his flames higher, rotating his behind. He jumped up, throwing Fifi in the air. She fell back into Lumière's arms, both of them smiling adoringly at each other. Lefou watched them both, numb.
Finally, he was able to get up and stagger to the bathroom. He shut the door, placing his head on it, hyperventilating. "I'm not supposed to be here..."
He slowly turned around when he heard a flushing noise, realizing it was the toilet. It had done so by itself, making a gurgling noise.
Freaked out, he lunged himself out of the bathroom, screaming.
-
Gaston finally found Adam, still sulking by the rose. He aimed his crossbow at him. Even when Adam looked up, he just looked away, ready for whatever.
The arrow hit him in the shoulder, causing him to cry out in pain. Gaston jumped at him, smashing through the window and into the rain.
"Hahahahahahahaha!" He cornered Adam on the roof, watching as he balled himself up. "Get up! Get up!" He cackled evilly, taunting him. "What's the matter, Beast?! Too kind and gentle to fight back?!"
He just moaned as Gaston broke off a piece of the roof, raising it above his head. His hair had come out of its ponytail and his clothes were stuck to his skin. But the most horrifying thing about this shell of a man now was his eyes: full of obsession. Obsession for Y/n and her beauty, obsession for keeping his title in town as the strongest and most handsome and having this beast's head on his wall to prove it, obsession for killing his greatest prey.
"No!"
Adam looked down at the voice, seeing Y/n on Philipe with Beal seated behind her. "Y/n...? Beal...?"
"No!"
"Gaston, don't!" Beal screamed up above the rain.
Gaston's face went red when he saw Beal with Y/n, his teeth grit. "Damn beta..." He turned his attention away and swung down at Adam, who grabbed it and pushed back, his teeth barred, glaring down the Frenchman, roaring in his face.
Once Gaston was pushed away, Adam hid behind a gargoyle, not wanting anyone to be seriously hurt in the fight.
-
"Let's go, Philipe," Beal ordered, kicking at his sides.
-
But Gaston kept pushing, looking all over the roof for him. "Come on out and fight!" he demanded. "Were you in love with her, Beast? Did you honestly think she'd want someone like you when she had someone like me?"
How. Dare. He.
To assume that such an amazing woman would ever want someone like him was just...and to degrade her like that! To degrade someone like that of such compassion, his teacher of love...
Adam jumped out, ready to take him out again, but Gaston held his weapon over his head. His eyes, once obsessed, now pure yandere. "It's over, Beast! Y/N IS MINE!"
Fed up, Adam picked him up by the neck and dangled him over the rooftop. Realizing what was going to happen, his yellow cladded hands groped at Adam's own as he begged. "Let me go! Let me go! Please, don't hurt me! I'll do anything! Anything!"
The furry on Adam's face slowly began to melt as he saw no longer a killer, but a human, as afraid of death as any other. Slowly, he moved him back to the rooftop.
"Get out."
He shoved him to the ground. Getting up quickly ran out.
Y/n and Beal appeared on the balcony, rushing to the edge. "Adam!" Y/n crowd, reaching for him.
His face alit when he saw them both. "Y/n? Beal?"
He climbed the tower, Y/n still reaching, until he was able to close his fingers around hers.
"You came back!" He reached up to stroke her cheek, her eyes closed, so she did not realize when Adam's eyes flickered behind them. There was Gaston, still climbing, a small dagger raised above Beal.
"Beal!" He lunged up and pushed him out of the way, the dagger hitting him instead. He roared out in pain, almost falling off, until Beal caught him and pulled him back up.
Gaston, grinning like a madman, took another stab at Beal, but lost his grip, faltering on the edge. He began to fall, Y/n reaching out for him, but he was already halfway down the castle, screaming, nothing below to catch his fall.
Once she recovered from watching a man literally fall to his death, Y/n pushed Beal aside, looking over Adam with tears in her eyes.
"You...you came back..." He was breathing heavily, struggling to stay alive.
"Of course we came back. We couldn't let them..." She picked him up in a hug, sniffling. "Oh, the is all my fault..."
Beal put his hand on his shoulder, quickly saying, "No, it's mine, too. If only we had gotten here sooner...besides...I'm the one who wanted to leave in the guest place and...oh, god, he saved my life..."
"Maybe...it's better...it's better this way..."
"Don't talk like that," Beal told him, his eyes filling next. "You'll be alright. We're together now. You're with Y/n now. Everything's going to be fine, you'll see."
"At least...I got to see you...one last time..." He stroked Y/n's cheek again and put his other hand on Beal's shoulder. "I'm just sorry...it had to be in...such a Shakespearean way..."
They both grabbed onto his paws, tears running down their cheeks, as Adam took his final breath, his eyes closing. His body plopped onto the ground. Y/n gasped as Beal turned his head, his body shaking with sobs.
"No...no! Please...! Please! Please don't leave us!" she begged, placing her head on his chest, sobbing. "We love you...!"
-
The head servants watched as the final petal fell from the rose. Lumière sighed as Mrs. Potts felt a tear fall from her eye, Cogsworth putting his arm around her.
-
The two did not realize that magic had started falling from the sky until Adam's body lifted up. Beal turned back and Y/n backed away. He took her into his arms as light came from the prince's fingers, then toes. Then, from Y/n's forehead, the pain so great, all she could do was scream as Beal's eyes widened, more confused than frightened.
In an explosion, Adam was dropped back onto the ground and Y/n collapsed. Slowly, she got up, feeling her forehead.
The scar was gone.
She then looked up at a human that had appeared. He looked at each hand, then turned, a human face replacing that of a beast's and long, h/c hair replacing his fur. Y/n covered her mouth as she processed everything, confused.
"Y/n...Beal...it's me!" He grabbed their hands, looking hopefully. Y/n looked closely, into his eyes, noticing they were the same ones from the painting.
"It is you!" she finally cried, stroking him lightly. "My brother..."
He pulled her into a crushing hug, his arms around her waist. More light exploded upward, turning into fireworks, transforming the gloomy palace into a bright one, the gargoyles turning into cherubs.
The rest of the objects hopped into the balcony, all transforming. First was Lumière into a skinny man with a long face and relaxed eyes.
"Lumière!"
Next was Cogsworth, a short, plump man with a mustache that looked like a clock's hands.
"Cogsworth!"
Mrs. Potts spun around, turning into an old lady.
"Mrs. Potts! Look at us!" Adam pulled them all into a group hug, squeezing them all tightly.
"Mama, Mama!" Sultan ran over to them with Chip on his back, both of them transforming, Chip still on the dog's back.
"Oh, my goodness!" Mrs. Potts cried, rushing to pick him up.
"It is a miracle!" Lumière exclaimed as Adam picked Y/n up and spun her around. When he placed her back down, Beal hugged him tightly, having to settle for squeezing around his waist, Adam being at least a foot taller than him.
"Thank you," he whispered.
Whispering back, he said, "Are you going to propose or do I have to do it for you?"
His face red, he pushed away, then turned to Y/n, awkwardly. "Um...not to ruin the moment or anything, but, um...Y/n...if...I mean, you know..."
Sighing, Adam grabbed him by the shoulders and made him drop to his knees, then reached around and bent the other one so that his foot was touching the ground. Then, he took Beal's hand and made it grab Y/n's.
"Oh, wow, um..." He noticed Y/n giggling. He tried to laugh back, then cleared his throat. "Will you, um..."
"Marry you?" she finished for him.
"Yeah, that..."
She helped him stand, then gave him a quick kiss. "Yes."
Grinning, he picked her up and spun her around as everyone else cheered out their congratulations. Slowly spinning her down, Y/n hugged him around the neck. Beal hugged back, then noticed Adam giving him a watchful glare, his fingers pointing to his eyes, then at Beal.

The whole town came to the ceremony. Y/n had grown out her bangs, now revealing her forehead, the scar no longer there.
During the first dance, Beal twirled Y/n around. When are was placed down, they kissed, then twirled past the servants.
"Ah, l'amour," Lumière sighed as Fifi, now a human, walked past him, brushing his chin with a feather duster. With a laugh, he went after her, only to be stopped by Cogsworth, who shook his hand.
"Well, Lumière, old friend. Shall we meet bygones be bygones?"
"Of course, mon ami. I told you they would break the spell!" he added, gloating a bit.
Cogsworth shook his head, still chuckling. "I beg your pardon, old friend. But I believe I told you."
"No, you didn't. I told you!"
Now angry, he shouted, "You most certainly did not, you pompous, paraffin-headed pea-brain!" He bumped him with a stomach for emphasis.
"En garde, you overgrown pocket watch!" Lumière took out a glove and slapped him with it, both of them getting into a brawl.
On the other side of the room was Mrs. Potts and Maurice with their children. Maurice took out a handkerchief, sniffling, and wiped his eyes.
"Are they gonna live happily ever after, Mama?" Chip asked in Mrs. Potts' arms.
"Of course, my dear. Of course..." she sighed.
Clarice tugged at her sleeve. When she looked down, she asked, "Does he still have to sleep in the cupboard?", making the grown-ups chuckle.
Next to them, the former teapot noticed Lefou with Stanley, both of them holding hands, a crutch under his other arm. She leaned over with a smile and whispered with a wink, "I knew you could do better."
Wardrobe:
Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bittersweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong
Mrs. Potts:
Winter turns to spring
Famine turns to feast
Nature points the way
Nothing left to say
Beauties and the beast
Adam stepped in front of the two, bowing and holding out his hand. "May I?"
Y/n giggled and curtsied, accepting his hand. They began to dance, Y/n giving him a bit of a look. "What?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. "What is it?"
"How would you feel about growing a beard?"
Playfully, he growled at her, making her laugh again. He laughed along with her, then continued their dance.
Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tail as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauties and the beast
Tale at old as time
Song as of as rhyme
Beauties and the beast
Ah ah ah
And they all lived happily ever after.
The end.

" How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity! " - Psalm 133:1
-
Beal:
How does a moment last forever?
How can a story never die?
It is love we must hold on to
Never easy, but we try
Sometimes our happiness is captured
Somehow, our time and place stand still
Love lives on inside our hearts and always will
Minutes turn to hours, days to years, then gone
But when all else has been forgotten,
Still our song lives on
Maybe some moments weren't so perfect
Maybe some memories not so sweet
Through the darkest hour of our troubles,
Or our lives are incomplete
Then when the shadows overtake us -
Just when we feel all hope is gone
- we'll hear our song once more and know
Our love lives on
How does a moment last forever?
How does happiness endure?
Through the darkest of our troubles,
Love it beauty, love is pure
Love pays no mind to desolation
It flows like a river to the soul
Protects, proceeds, and preserves
And makes us whole
Minutes turn to hours, days to years, then gone
But when all else has been forgotten,
Still our song lives on
How does a moment last forever?
When our song lives on
