Chapter 30
WARNING: You might wanna buckle up and throw all your feelings out the window...
Tammy's POV
Dad and Papa still wouldn't tell me why I had to go to the hospital all the time. But the doctors there were very nice, and I knew most of their names. I asked Papa if I could bring Francis to the hospital, since it was animal friendly. He said yes, but Dad said no.
Papa ended up winning the argument. (Hahaha go Anthony)
I cuddled Francs in my hospital bed. He twitched his nose at me and curled up near me. I started to pet him a little. He was just a baby bunny, and I loved him to the ends of the earth. I never wanted to let go of him, or Dad, or Papa, or anyone else.
Ryan's POV
The next time we took Tammy home, we were trying to teach Francis to chase rabbit food when the doorbell rang. multiple times. I got up and went to the door. Two people were standing there. A man and a woman. "Excuse me, are you Ryan Waters Johannson?" she asked. "Um... yes... why?" I asked in return. "Oh, good. Thank you for fostering our daughter, Henrietta," the man said. "What?" I asked. Tammy walked up to me and asked, "What's going on, Dad?" I shrugged. "Henrietta, it is you!" the woman said. "My name is Tamara," Tammy said.
The couple raised their eyebrows at me. "Are you Tammy's birth parents?" I asked. They nodded. "Who names their kid Henrietta anymore?" Tammy asked, scrunching her nose. "Seems you didn't teach her any manners," the man said. "She's not usually like this," I said. "Ryan, what's happening?" Anthony asked, coming to the door. "Well, since we're ready, we'll be taking Henrietta back with us now," the woman said. "Excuse me. We did not foster Tammy. We legally adopted her," I retorted.
"Ryan, who are these people?" Anthony asked me. "I'm Mary Rocheson. This is my husband, Eric. We're here to reunite with our daughter," the woman answered. "I don't wanna go with you," Tammy said simply. "We are keeping Tammy. As I said, we legally adopted her, and you two do not have the rights to take her away," I said firmly. I picked up Tammy and held her in my arms. Tammy clutched my shirt and held onto me tightly. I felt my ears heat up in anger.
Mary scrunched her nose and said to Eric, "Let's go. These people have brainwashed Henrietta." She and Eric left the house and drove away.
"Dad, are those actually my birth parents?" Tammy asked. At times like these I was glad Tammy knew she was adopted. "I... don't know. if they had a birth certificate or something, I might believe it, but... just up and saying they're your parents... I just... I can't..." I carried Tammy into the living room and we all started watching TV.
Tammy fell asleep on my shoulder as we watched a movie. I picked her up and carried her to her room. "Good night, sunshine," I said to her. I saw her smile.
The next morning, Anthony went to wake Tammy up. "Um... Ryan... come here," he told me. I got out of bed and walked into Tammy's room. Her bed was empty and Francis wasn't anywhere to be seen. I looked at Anthony. I couldn't feel any tears in my eyes, but I leaned on him shoulder.
I couldn't say anything for a long time, I was too choked up. When I finally managed something, it was, "This is my fault." Anthony shook his head. "The only people to blame are Mary and Eric," he said. "How do you even know they took her?! She could be dead! She could've just been taken by some random kidnapper and have been killed!" I snapped. "Don't say that. I'm sure wherever she is, she'll survive," Anthony said back.
I called Ella.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Ella..."
"Ryan! How are you?"
"Broken. Awful. The worst possible thing just happened to Anthony and I."
"Oh, no! What?"
"Tammy was taken from us... someone kidnapped her..."
"That's terrible!"
Our conversation went on for a while. She wanted to help as much as possible. She informed Julia and Thomas about what I told her. Everything I told her. And I just need more people than ever to comfort me in this time. I'm sure Anthony feels the same way...
