Chapter 1

Anthony's POV

I sighed and stared at my phone, not really sure what to do. Mom was out with her friends... again. Of course she always had time to look at cars, or go to parties or something, but she never had time to spend with her own son. Her own family. Ugh. Just as I was about to give up on my phone, I got a text from Julia.

J: Hey, Anthony! What's up?

A: Nothing, as usual.

J: Oh. Mom still out?

A: yep.

Oh, did I forget to mention her? She's been my only friend for about 4 years. Of course, there's her little sister, Ana, but she doesn't talk to me all that much. And as if I'd ever ask Julia out. I am probably the gayest person you've ever met, thank you very much. I just wish I hadn't told Julia that, because... wait, she texted me again.

J: SO! Starting tomorrow I'm gonna keep looking for some guys to set you up with!

Yeah. That's why. Thanks, pal.

The only reason I did was because Julia had a massive crush on me. And I didn't want her clinging around to me because of that. But then when I told her I was gay, she immediately shouted, "TIME FOR JULIA THE MATCHMAKER TO COME INTO PLAY!" And she's been trying to hook me up with random guys on blind dates ever since. None of them have really went well, because I'm used to being ignored. And that makes me a bit... socially awkward. Nonetheless, Julia never gives up. Again, thanks.

-a couple days later-

I walked to history class. Wait, did I say walk? I meant ran. I was running late for the first time in about 5 years. On the way, I saw some group of people stare at me. One of them shouted,"What? Running late?" "Scared you'll get into trouble?" another one shrieked. "Guys, shut it," said the last one calmly. I barely heard him. I glanced back. He was a lot shorter than the other two. He had a menacing glare on his face.

I sat in the very back of the class, like I always did. Nobody ever noticed me there. I prefer things being the same at school and at home, surprisingly. The class seemed rather short today... not that I cared. History was the same every day. Nothing was gonna be different today than any other day...

Ryan's POV

I sat in my class, talking to my friends. I was just glad I was already done with my work, because my father says if I ever embarrass him while I'm at school, he'll feed me to wild dogs. Not that I believe him, But the thought terrifies me. Thomas showed me some stuff he did to his phone. It was very... interesting.

After I got out of class, a redheaded girl about my height with long hair and a dress walked over to me. "HEYA!" she shouted. "I'm Julia. You are?" she held out her hand. "My name's Ryan," I reluctantly shook it. "So, I'm gonna ask you a question... are you gay?" Why would she just up and ask me that? I mean, yeah, but honestly? Am I that obvious? "Yes? Why are you asking?" I asked. "Good! Meet my friend two days from now at 8:00 PM! He really needs a lover, I keep telling him but he doesn't listen. Later!" Julia asked and walked away. This girl annoyed me and I only knew her for about a minute.

The next day, Julia walked up to me again. "How's it goin', Ryan?" she asked cheerfully. And this time, Thomas and Ella were with me. "This your new girlfriend?" Thomas asked. "F**k no, you know I'm gay," I responded. "Hey, watch that mouth, Ryan," Ella said sharply. And I knew she meant it. Ella's the type of person you don't want to make mad. "All right, Julia, when do I have to meet this guy?" I asked her. "Like I said, tomorrow," she answered. "But does he go to this school?" I asked again. "Yes... but it'll be more exciting if it's a blind date like I planned!"

"Wait, wait, wait. You're setting Ryan up on a date?" Thomas asked. "Guys-" "Holy smokes! When's the wedding?" Ella asked. I appreciate my friends being supportive of my being gay, but honestly, they can get on my nerves sometimes.
