My Pride and Joy: Jason

The reason why I chose the baby's name is that the name wouldn't remind them of anything that they don't want to be reminded of. I will do the same thing for most babies in the future. Enjoy!
My father wasn't around (my father wasn't around)
I swear that I'll be around for you
I held my baby in her soft, warm blanket. "You're going to be as beautiful as your mama." She cooed at me as I wagged her tiny fist.
"Jason!" Piper rushed over and grabbed our daughter in her arms. "I'm only supposed to do that!" All three of us laughed. Well, more like the two of us; our daughter was gurgling, trying to imitate us. "You want to go to sleep? I can handle Emily."
"Nope, I'm fine." I picked up Emily and returned her to my arms. "You sleep. You look like you need it." Piper punched my arm softly.
"Goodnight, Em Ems." As she kissed Emily on her cheek I gave her a weird look. "What? It makes total sense!"
"Uh-huh." Piper gave me a look. "It defiantly makes wonderful sense, my beautiful wife."
"Uh-huh. That's totally what you think," she imitated me. She playfully glared at me and walked toward our bedroom.
Emily looked at me with wide eyes. "You, missy, need to go night-night so I can get my night-night." She made the gurgling sound again like she was saying, "Yeah, right daddy!" I sat down on the couch and snuggled her closer to my chest.
I'll do whatever it takes
I'll make a million mistakes
I'll make the world safe and sound for you
"This is your last-first day of middle school!"
Emily nodded "I know, Dad. This is your millionth time saying it."
"It's the end of an era!"
Emily made the timeout symbol. "It's just middle school Dad. It's not like I'm going off to college!" I pretended to wipe a tear off of my face.
"You will be in five years, eight months, twenty-three days, seven hours, and ten minutes," I said rattling random numbers (except for a number of years).
"Yeah," Piper said, "Five years, eight months..."
"Twenty-three days, seven hours, and ten minutes," I finished for her. Piper nodded.
"Guys! You are embarrassing me," Emily said even though we were still in the car. She looked around and fixed her hair. Eighth graders amiright. That's what the kids say, right?
Piper shrugged. "Says the girl who puked on a merchandise counter that I had to pay for." Emily blushed. "You could have stopped me from eating twenty donuts." She crossed her arms
"You could not have puked on a merchandise counter."
"That your mom had to pay for," I added.
"Isn't that the bell? I gotta run. Bye!" Emily ran out of the car. Piper and I shook our heads.
"Teenagers."
You will come of age with our young nation
We'll bleed and fight for you
We'll make it right for you
"Mom! Have you seen my lamp?"
"Which one? You have ten of them!"
"The pink one with polka-dots!"
"Oh!" Piper looked down at her list. "It's in the car, honey!"
"Thanks, Mom!" Emily opened her door when I was just about to knock on it. She giggled. "Hey, Dad."
"Hey, Emily. How's packing?" Emily shrugged. "You want to eat out for dinner tonight? Squeeze one in just before you go?"
"Sorry, Dad." Emily hugged me. "I'm hanging out with Mom all day. Will tomorrow work?"
"Yeah." I was a little hurt, but at least I will spend time with her tomorrow!
"Yay! Love you." "Love you too."
Little did Emily know that I would die the next day, covered with gold dust.
Someday, someday
Yeah you'll blow us all away
Someday, someday
Yeah you'll blow us all away
Welp. I accidentally killed Jason.
