trouble at work, and surprises
Creeaaakkk, the door made that horrid sound that happened in horror movies.
"Ugh great. We're going to die on this horror mission!" Kevin angrily whispered. He had a terrible week as it was, and being put on a mission with a person who always got the credit was annoying. Like, last time the nurses ran right past him, and barely noticed Kevin. They just left him to hold his large laceration on his arm for a good hour. Wonderful.
Quietly, he moved in.
On the floor sat a little girl crying. He'd been warned about her. Don't comfort, touch or gain her attention in anyway. They hadn't specified why, but it sounded urgent.
Passing by her slowly, Kevin motioned for his partner to follow. So he came.
Don't go near her, they said. We've warned your partner about her too, they said, Kevin thought. Apparently they hadn't. Because the idiot Harry Potter walked on over to her, put his hand on her shoulder, and asked what's wrong. Somehow the idiot didn't see or understand Kevin's mad motioning that this was not a good idea. He was literally swinging his arms around like a maniac trying to get his attention, but no. Kevin was too late.
The little girls long blonde hair wrapped itself around Harry's wrist, and the girl rapidly looked up. At this point they both regretted having disturbed her. Those wide eyes were fully white, with tears of blood coming out. Stiches ran from the edges of her mouth to her mid cheek. The mouth reminded Kevin of 'The Joker' in the movie his muggleborn friend Morris had shown him.
Then an awful screech came out of her painful looking lips.
"Potter, did they tell you to not touch her?" Kevin shouted over the sound.
The terror in Harry's voice when he said, "nope," totally confirmed it. He wasn't just doing it to be an idiot this time.
Harry was lifted into the air as if gravity was disappearing. Kevin started rapidly firing spells he thought might help.
Small bits of red started to stain Harry's clothing. He'd worked hard to keep Harry alive up until now, and he wasn't about to let Harry die this time. Thinking quick, he realized the connection at the moment was the hair.
Kevin had to cut it.
With what though? Searching through the room, he realized they had purposely taken out every single sharp object. Despite this being a sowing room, it had no scissors, nothing to cut the cloth, seriously nothing sharp. A sowing room without sharp objects for cutting was useless, why? No, save the Potter Kevin, he thought to himself.
Then he remembered something back in the hallway. Sprinting, he raced to get it.
He heard a muffled Harry shouting something along the lines of "don't leave me Johnson!"
Then Kevin found the mirror he was looking for and punched it hard. Ignoring the pain, he grabbed a shard and raced back. The red splotches on Harry's clothing had grown, and Kevin, for a moment, thought Harry wouldn't make this one. Then he remembered this was Harry flippin Potter, of course he'd make it.
Slicing the hair, both the horrid screaming stopped, and Harry fell. Kevin grabbed Harry, and attempted to apparate. He found he couldn't. Being rather fit, Kevin grabbed Harry and flung him over his shoulder. Quickly he adjusted to the extra weight and began to go back in the direction they came from.
The girl had started to roll around her neck unnaturally. Jeez, I don't need to watch horror movies with Morris, my life occasionally becomes one with Potter around.
Racing down the hallway, Kevin heard a strange thumping. After taking a quick glance back, he regretted that too. The white eyed girl was shuffling strangely... on the roof. She seemed to be gaining on them.
Attempting to go faster, Kevin tripped when Harry's leg got caught on something, and he wasn't able to regain his footing.
The white eyed girl got extremely close. Kevin yanked his arm with his wand out from underneath Harry and made a shield.
The girl shrieked when she touched it. She nervously started to do circles while screaming.
Couldn't Karkaroff have a less creepy alarm system? Like a dog, or a spell? Nope. Guess not.
Knowing the spell wouldn't last long, Kevin scrambled up, grabbed the bloody Potter and made his way out. As soon as he was out, he apparated to St. Mungos.
Kevin seriously hoped Harry would make it throughout this one. He reminded himself who it was, which gave him a little more hope, but he knew Harry Potter wasn't invincible.
.........
Recently the muggle phone was introduced into the wizarding world, and it was a complete success. Therefore Draco had a way of communicating with the wizards he needed for fixing up the house.
Draco knew that the line was probably being watched though, so there was no chance of calling his mother even If he knew her number.
With the budget he'd been given, Draco had worked all day on the house. It was quite a large budget too. He was surprised that Harry was willing to give up that much money to someone untrustworthy. Although Harry had asked for all the bills afterwards, which was sensible.
The amount of work the house took amazed Draco. With the amount of dark magic in the air, it could cause a man to go insane. They fixed the magic that hung in the air, got rid of the ugly elf heads that were quite stubbornly stuck on the wall, had made the walls different colours, and had changed the furniture.
The place didn't look like a grim old place anymore. They might have to rename it. It wasn't completely done yet, but it was far better.
Throughout the day, Draco didn't watch the time. He had grabbed a quick bite to eat and raced to the guy who was asking what type of magical atmosphere Draco wanted in the air.
The guys who brought the furniture in had stayed late to help him. Draco had given them a tip, and went to go attempt to make himself supper.
A clock that was hung up on a wall read it was three in the morning. Harry had mentioned that he may stay a little late, but he only worked until seven in the afternoon. What Draco took as a little late was eight or nine at most. This was Harry though. It could've been a misunderstanding?
Despite this, Draco still found himslef getting worried.
........
"Let me in," Kevin demanded.
The healer attempted to stop him. "I'm sorry sir, I can't."
"Its nine in the morning, and I want to know if my co-worker is dead or not, and no one will give me a straight answer!" Kevin shouted.
"Please sir, I know the situation you went through was a horrible one, but it won't help your co-worker if you barge in, and-"
The healer was interrupted by a doctor calling her name saying a patient had escaped again. The lady quickly informed Kevin not to go in, and left.
Smiling, Kevin knew who it was. Harry had escaped multiple times when he decided he was done with his treatment.
Swiftly snatching Harry's wand when no one was looking, Kevin strutted out with a smirk. He found Harry in the same place as always. Hiding under the big weeping willow tree no one seemed to ever look under.
"Whats up Johnson?" Harry asked casually.
Kevin snorted. "Well, right now a tree, but earlier it was a child trying to murder us with her hair."
Smiling lightly Harry spoke, "thank you Johnson. You're a good friend." He paused for a moment. "By any chance, do you have my wand again? I need to go make sure my new housemate isn't dying."
"Yup. I'm getting pretty good at taking things without people noticing. I didn't know you had a new housemate. Who is it?"
Smirking, Harry announced, "Draco Malfoy."
Chuckling, Kevin looked back up to Harry. "Very funny. Who is it actually?"
"I'm sure you'll see in the news. Anyway, I gotta go. See ya next time." Stumbling up, Harry was about to apparate when he muttered, "oh and thanks for saving my bloody hind end again."
"Literally ay? Your welcome Potter."
Then after giving a smile, he apparated away.
..........
When Harry got home, he was shocked to find the whole place was different. He had thought that there would only be small changes, but no. It looked like a totally different place.
Limping in, Harry looked around in awe. He ended up going outside again and checking to make sure he was in the right house.
When he came back in, he limped into the kitchen to find it had a completely different atmosphere, along with new drawers and a new stove. Harry had been meaning to do both for a while now, but now he didn't need to.
He stumbled over to the counter and leant down. Lightly he put his head in his hands and tried to get used to the change. Everything had changed for the better, but it was a huge step that Harry didn't feel prepared for.
"Stayed a little late huh?" Came an accusing voice from behind him.
Harry pushed himself up unsteadily and turned around.
There was a gasp from the blond haired man in front of him. "Bloody hell Potter, are you alright? You look like you went through hell!"
"Kinda feels like I did," Harry muttered with a smile. "I'm fine though."
"What in Merlin's name happened Potter?"
Harry scratched his head. "Long story short, I was misinformed and because of that, I got a little hurt. Anyway, the house is so different."
Knowing that was just a way to get off the topic, Draco almost pushed him on it further. In the end he decided not to. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"
"I think its good. I'm not really good with change if I'm honest. I take it all in stride, but it's always really hard for me to wrap my head around."
"Does me staying here count as one of those changes?" Draco asked Dryly.
Fiddling with his sleeves, he nodded. "I'm not about to lie to make you feel better, sorry Malfoy. Anyway, I'm going to go have a shower. See ya in a bit Malfoy."
Harry stumbled away, and Draco briefly wondered if he should help him up the stairs. When the phone rang, the thought left his mind.
Picking it up, he heard a healer from St Mungos.
Not even twenty seconds later, Draco yelled, "BLOODY HELL POTTER! GET DOWN HERE! WE'RE BRINGING YOU BACK TO ST. MUNGOS!"
Harry sighed. Having a mothering, house fixing, enemy in his house was never Harry's intention.
