no ring ~ 2
"This is what I call a target-rich environment," Maverick says with a smirk as he and Goose walk into a bar while he looks around at all of the women.
"You live your life between your legs, Mav," Goose jokes as he pats Maverick on the shoulder while they make their way over to the bar where Havoc and Berserker are already waiting on them.
"Goose, even you could get laid in a place like this," Maverick teases as he continues to look around. "And you officially can now."
"I'm telling you, I'd be happy to find a girl who'd talk dirty to me," Goose says as he looks over at Havoc before he glances back at Maverick, who has a huge smile on his face.
"No time like the present," Maverick agrees as he motions to his sister and Berserker, who he wraps an arm around once he reaches them.
"As tradition stands," Havoc announces as she passes everyone a shot of Tequila. "May our take offs stay equal to our landings."
"Happy landings," The other three say together before they all four take their shots.
"Mav," Goose says as he notices Iceman on the other side of the room with his aviators on. "You wanted to know who the best is?" Goose motions over to Iceman, who is once again taking a drink which causes Havoc to let out a snort. "Besides us, it's him. Iceman. That's the way he flies, ice-cold, no mistakes." Maverick watches as Iceman talks to the woman beside him. "Just wears you down. You get bored, frustrated, do something stupid, and he's got you."
"In other words he has zero instincts," Havoc tells her brother since she and Berserker have experienced it first hand.
"Hey, hey, Slider," Goose calls out as he motions to Slider's uniform as he stops. "Thought you wanted to be a pilot, man. What happened?"
"Goose, you're such a dickhead," Slider responds with a shake of his head and a smile on his face. "Whose butt did you kiss to get in here?"
"Well, the list is long but distinguished," Goose remarks with a sarcastic smirk.
"Well, so is my johnson," Slider retorts before throwing back a shot.
"Sure it is," Berserker quips with an eye roll since Slider is the one always trying to flirt with her.
"You are the one, who won't take the time to find out," Slider retaliates as he steps towards Berserker before Havoc steps in front of her.
"I have to pee," Havoc announces as she grabs Berserker's arm before dragging her to the bathroom.
"So you're flying with Iceman, huh?" Goose asks as he takes a drink of his beer, glad that Havoc diffused the situation.
"It's Mr. Iceman to you," Slider corrects as he points at Iceman, who is walking up to them.
"Hey, Mother Goose," Iceman says as he and Goose shake hands. "How's it going?"
"Good, Tom," Goose says with a nod before looking over at Maverick, who is leaned against the bar. "This is Pete Mitchell." Maverick and Iceman shake hands. "Tom Kazansky."
"Congratulations on Top Gun," Iceman says with a smirk.
"Thanks," Maverick says with a nod.
"Sorry to hear about Cougar," Iceman explains as he reaches in front of Maverick to grab some peanuts off of the bar. "He and I were like brothers in flight school. He was a good man."
"Still is a good man," Maverick is quick to correct Iceman.
"Yeah, that's what I meant," Iceman agrees with a nod.
"Thought so," Maverick says as he looks away from Iceman while taking a drink of his beer.
"Mav, you must've soloed under a lucky star, huh?" Slider asks which causes Maverick to look over at him as he changes the subject. "I mean, first the MiG, and then you guys slide into Cougar's spot."
"We didn't slide into Cougar's spot. It was ours, okay?" Goose quickly corrects him.
"Some pilots wait their whole career just to see a MiG up close," Slider explains as he looks over at Maverick. "Guess you guys are lucky and famous, huh?" Iceman and Slider each down a shot.
"No, you mean notorious," Iceman corrects him with a laugh. "I'll see you later."
"You can count on it," Maverick replies as Slider and Iceman walk away from them.
"They were abused children," Goose says in an attempt to make Maverick smile.
"We're gonna have a good time," Maverick responds as he looks over at Goose with a smirk.
"Always," Havoc agrees as she leans against her brother, having caught what he said as she and Berserker rejoined them. The four tap their beer bottles together.
"Okay, I guess it's my turn, isn't it?" Goose asks as he notices that Maverick is once again checking out the ladies. "All right, the bet is $20."
"Twenty dollars," Maverick agrees as he looks back over at Goose while Berserker rolls her eyes since she is not a fan of their game.
"You have to have carnal knowledge, of a lady this time, on the premises," Goose sets up the bet while Maverick starts to look around.
"On the premises," Maverick repeats as he locks eyes on a blonde sitting down at the bar.
"Come on, Mav. A bet's a bet," Goose encourages as Maverick's eyes do not leave the blonde.
"I don't know, it just... it just doesn't seem fair. For you I mean," Maverick explains as he pats Goose on the shoulder. "But... She's lost that lovin' feeling."
"She's lost?" Goose goes to repeat as he looks over at the blonde before Maverick grabs his shoulder. "No, she hasn't."
"Yes, she has," Maverick states with a nod.
"She has not lost that..." Goose argues as he glances between the blonde and Maverick.
"Goose, she's lost it," Maverick finalizes as he walks away from Goose while Havoc shakes her head.
"I hate it when she does that," Goose pouts with a sigh before he follows after Maverick.
"Excuse me, miss," Maverick says as he taps the blonde on the shoulder.
"Hey, hey, hey. Don't worry, I'll take care of this," Havoc says as she steps between the blonde and Maverick with her aviators on before Goose pulls her out of the way.
"You never close your eyes anymore. When I kiss your lips," Maverick sings as he points at the blonde.
"There's no tenderness like before in your fingertips," Goose sings as a few other pilots start to snap.
"You're trying hard not to show it," Maverick takes back over singing before the other pilots join in. The blonde looks around at pilots with a smile on her face.
"Sit down," The blonde tells Maverick, causing the pilots to cheer while Maverick sits down beside the blonde.
"Why does that always work?" Goose asks no one in particular as he and Havoc make their way back to their spot at the bar.
"I honestly do not know," Havoc admits as she goes to take a drink of her beer.
"So, how has life been treating you?" Goose asks since he knew he was better off not directly asking her about her love life.
"Too focused on becoming the best and proving that women can be pilots for anything exciting to happen in my life," Havoc admits as she looks down at her beer bottle since the only man, that she could catch feelings for happened to be married.
"Hey, I know you. You're going to have everything you want," Goose reassures with a smile before he takes a drink of his beer.
"Not everything," Havoc barely whispers out as she looks up at Goose as he drinks before she notices the faint tan line on the ring finger on his left hand. Meaning, no ring. Goose winks at Havoc when he catches her staring.
"Your friend was magnificent," Charlotte, the blonde, lies as she walks past Goose and Havoc, who is lightly blushing. Goose looks at her in shock as she continues to leave before looking over at Maverick, who stops beside them.
"No," Goose says as he realizes that Maverick struck out.
