It's raining outside, dark and stormy. Loud thunder strikes the earth, keeping citizens of the town awake. Especially one girl who lived in a quiet neighborhood.

Her name? Reigen Matsugiri. 

Reigen was considered a quiet girl. The Quietest little girl you've ever see or meet.

In some occasions she would be called mute. Other children have tried talking to her at school however she never found the words to respond to them. It's been a rare thing to hear Reigen speak at all, even in the classroom. 

Anyways back to the story. Reigen sat there in her bed, watching the rain outside.  The girl thought about the rain, the seemingly calm sound it made with each drop hitting the window. 

Thunder strikes, interrupting her thought. She gets up to go downstairs, however hears something Across the hall. Reigen knew her parents were asleep, considering it was midnight.  

Someone was in the house.

The sounds of a gun being loaded would be heard before a gunshot. I

-BANG!-

then again.

-BANG!-

 Reigen ran down the stairs, then hid under the kitchen sink. She was small, so she knew the intruder wouldn't look there. Was wrong about a single Intruder, because the second she heard a conversation in the living room  tears began to  run down her face.

 "The parents are dead, what about the girl?" One said . another replying with " I heard someone running down here,  she wasn't in her room when I came in the house. " a third stepped in. 

"It's possible she's outside. Lets go check outside the house." Then as suddenly as the voices were heard, the front door shut . Reigen thought she was safe and came out from under the sink.  She slowly went up the stairs, and opened her parent's room.

"Mother?...."

No response .

"Father?... "

A cough was heard from inside the room. Reigen instinctively hurried over to her fathers side before taking his hand in hers. 

"Don't die... Please..."

The girl cried into his arm. Her father lay his right arm around his daughter.

"I'm sorry, we didn't know this would happen... "

cough...

"Reigen... You must live your life...."

 she cried even more, wrapping her arms around her father.

"You have  to go... Escape through this window. Those people will be back anytime now. "

The  front door was heard opening. 

"Go! Now before they see you!"

Reigen slowly got up before quickly opening the window . The drop from this window would be a long distance but it wouldn't cause much harm. She slowly carried herself out the window.

"Goodbye... I love you. so does your mother..."

More tears ran through the girls face before she dropped down into the backyard . And quickly climbed over the fence. Only woods were beyond that fence but the girl didn't care. Reigen ran as fast as she could until she tripped over a branch and blacked out.

Now a girl lay there in the forest, fainted and alone.
