Chapter 6

Robin's mouth moved in sync with mine.

He pulled me closer.

The kiss deepens.

We pulled apart for a second to breathe.

I stared deeply into his beautiful blue eyes. For a moment, we are silent and frozen, just looking at each other, our faces flushed red. We said nothing.

Robin gently put his left hand on my cheek and stroked it. I sighed contentedly and put an arm around his waist before kissing him again.

I'd never experienced anything like this before. It's impossible to describe the feeling.

I never wanted to let go.

We pulled apart as he takes his hands in mine. I blushed as I stood there, wondering what would happen next. The anticipation killed me.

Robin's face flushed red as he looked at me. He gave me a small smile, which I gladly returned.

"We should get back to Batman." Robin whispered before kissing me on the cheek.

"Okay." I whispered back, unable to think straight.

A couple of days ago, I was in Florida, living a normal life.

Now, I'm in Gotham City with Batman and his best friend, who I've just kissed.

Robin sighed as his smile disappeared. He took my hand as we walked out of the room silently, but when we got to the bedroom, he let go. Our faces were still red.

"What's going on with her?" Robin asked casually, looking over at Harley Quinn.

Batman looked up. "She's not talking." He noticed our red faces but didn't say anything. "The Joker should be here tomorrow."

"What?" I gasped.

"She left him a trail. I can tell." Batman said. "Allison, you need to stay safe while Robin and I fight him off."

I shook my head. "No, I want to help."

"Well, you're not going to." Batman said firmly. "End of story."

"It'll be 3 against 1! We'll take him down for sure!" I insisted.

"No. You'll just get in our way." Batman said, turning back around to Harley Quinn, who was still tied up but no longer had the duct tape over her mouth.

"Batman." Robin said.

Batman turned around. "What?"

"Allison would give us an advantage in the fight." Robin said. "You should let her help."

Batman glared at Robin. "For the last time, the answer is NO. She's flying back to Florida tomorrow anyway."

Robin turned to look at me, his eyes sad and pleading. I quickly looked away.

"How will I get to the airport?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Robin will take you."

I didn't look at him, even when his hand interlocked with mine. It was too hard.

I just met him a couple days ago. But I already know that I have feelings for him.

"What time?" I questioned.

"The soonest I could get you on was 2:30 P.M." Batman replied.

At this point, I couldn't ignore Robin anymore. He was still staring at me. I looked back at him. His beautiful blue eyes stared into my brown ones.

"Why can't she stay?" Robin asked without breaking our eye contact.

"She's a distraction and she's in danger." Batman said. "She's safer and happier at home. Gotham City isn't a place for the faint of heart."

"She's strong." Robin said defensively.

"Your feelings for her are making you weak, Robin." Batman told him forcefully. "Get over yourself. She's not special."

My eyes got teary at this comment.

I had known about Batman all my life. He'd been my idol and celebrity crush, and now, he's just insulting me.

"There will be a thousand other girls like her." Batman said. "Don't get attached."

"He's right." I agreed with no emotion. "I'm not special. Let me go, Robin. Let me go home."

Robin looked at me, his eyes glistening. I tried not to think about it. It didn't matter. I wasn't special. I let go of his hand.

"You should get some rest." Robin said quietly.

"No, I'm fine." I said, crossing my arms.

"Tomorrow's a big day for you..."

"I said I'm fine, Robin!"

I don't know why I snapped at him. Instantly, I regret it, and I look away.

"What are we doing about her?" I asked, looking at Harley.

"There is no we." Batman replied. "I will take her to a different place. Robin will stay here and make sure the Joker doesn't come."

"And if he does?" I asked.

"Robin will fight him off."

"How?"

"Stop asking questions." Batman said angrily. "If you really want to help, stay here with Robin and prepare him to fight the Joker. He's coming here. I know he is."

"Stay here... with Robin?" I questioned.

"Got a problem with that?"

"No, we'll be fine." Robin said, attempting to grab my hand again. I shook him off, feeling guilty but uncomfortable.

"Good. Then stay here. I might not see you again before you leave, Allison." Batman glanced at me before punching Harley in the head and knocking her out. He put the tape back over her mouth and put a blindfold on.

"Batman, I'm sorry." I said quickly before he left. He nodded before walking out with Harley in his arms, slamming the door behind him. Robin quickly pressed the button to lock it.

"What he said wasn't true." Robin said, looking directly at me. "You are special."

I shook my head and looked down, breaking our eye contact. "No, I'm not special at all. I'm a normal girl and you... you're a hero."

Robin lifted my chin up with his hand. "You are special, Allison. Nothing will ever change that."

"I don't think so." I said with a sigh.

"I'll prove it to you."

Before I could react, Robin's lips were on mine again. He gently pushed me up against the wall and kissed me, his hands around my waist and neck. I kissed him back despite my instincts, wrapping my arms around him.

"Do you think you're special now?" Robin asked with a smile as he pulled away.

"To have a guy like you?" I said with a smirk. "Yes."

He leaned in closer and kissed me again. I smiled and kissed him back.

Robin pushed me onto his bed and continued to kiss me. His hands traveled on my back and waist. Slowly, it got more intense, our lips desperate for each other's, until I realized it was moving way too fast.

"Robin, wait..." I gasped as he kissed my neck. "I... I'm not ready."

Robin chuckled. "I wasn't going to do that."

I blushed. "I... um... oh God, I'm sorry."

"Sh." Robin said with a small smile, putting a finger to my lips. "You're flustered. It's hot."

My face was redder than ever.

"C-can we talk about something else?" I whispered, embarrassed about everything that was happening.

"We don't have to talk at all." Robin said, pinning me down to the bed and kissing me again. I kissed him back, wrapping my hands around his waist and relaxing into the mattress.

We were so busy with this that we didn't hear the footsteps in the kitchen. And we were oblivious to the sound of shoes on the floor when he came into the bedroom until he spoke.

"Ooh, steamy."

I gasped and instantly opened my eyes, recognizing the green hair and the voice right away.

Robin jumped off of me, positioned to attack.

"Sorry to interrupt, but I have to take Allison to the airport now, don't I?" The Joker said with a smirk. Without warning, he pushed Robin to the side and grabbed me, throwing me against the wall. My head slammed against it.

"LET HER GO!" Robin was shouting as my vision slowly turned black. The last thing I hear was the Joker's laugh.
