Chapter 14
Haha, you probably think I'm crazy. Don't worry, I won't actually go to the Joker. I'm not insane... yet.
However, Robin's making it reallllllllly hard to stay single. And I'm sure I can get a Gotham boy somewhere, to make him jealous. Haha, maybe I'll even take Batman! I should go ask him.
"Batman," I called as I walked down the stairs. He came to me when I called.
"How are you feeling?" Batman asked.
"That doesn't matter," I said with a smirk and a flirtatious flip of my hair. I gently removed his mask. "The only thing that matters right now... is you." I stroked his cheek.
Batman immediately pulled away. "Really, Allison? I told you not to do anything you'd regret!" He seemed angry.
"What's wrong, puddin'?" I asked, using Harley Quinn's line.
"Can't you see what you're doing?" Batman yelled. "I thought you were smarter than that!"
"Wh...what do you mean?" I asked in my normal voice, slightly scared of his tone.
"I know you're trying to get revenge on Robin!" Batman shouted. "You're trying to find any other guy and use him! That's what turns people into villains, like the Joker!"
"Speaking of which..." I said, smirking as I checked my imaginary watch. "I gotta go."
Batman glared at me. "Don't you DARE."
"Why so serious?" I asked with a chuckle.
"STOP IT!" Batman yelled. "You're not thinking straight! Don't let Robin get into your head like that! Face it! It's OVER!"
"Damn, you're mad," I said with a laugh. "Maybe in two different ways..."
"Yeah, YOU'RE one to talk!" Batman said angrily. "If you don't go to your room right now, I'll tell your mother that the Joker is out of Arkham!"
I gasped. Batman continued to glare at me in silence.
"Y-you wouldn't..." I argued, my voice shaking.
"I would." Batman spoke in a firm, loud voice. "Go."
"One more thing," I said, lowering my voice. "Is Robin still staying here?"
Batman sighed. "I don't know yet. He doesn't have another place to stay. As mad as we are, he is my friend, and Alfred's. I might have to let him stay."
"Can't he stay at that other girl's house?" I complained.
Batman smirked. "Yeah, right. Because she was SO happy with him. Go to your room, Allison. Alfred put a book in there that I think you should read."
"Fine," I sighed, trudging up the stairs to my room. I looked at the title of the book.
"The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens."
I groaned and began reading.
2 HOURS LATER
As I was reading about the fourth habit, I heard a knock at the door. I got up and opened it. I was beyond shocked to see Robin's face, full of sadness.
"Can we talk?" Robin asked in his sweet voice.
I didn't respond; I just shut the door on him. Before I could, he pushed it open.
"Please," Robin said, with his eyes watery.
"No, Robin," I replied with a sigh. "You cheated. There's nothing to talk about."
"Allison, please. I know I made a mistake and..." Robin tried to grab my hand, but I pulled it away.
"I am so sorry. I can't believe I cheated on you."
"Neither can I," I said, rolling my eyes.
"I... I'm trying to explain myself."
"I never said we could talk."
"Stop being so stubborn!" Robin shouted. "I know you're hurt! Just listen to me!"
"What's the point?" I sighed. "You're just going to make excuses."
"I really want to talk to you," Robin begged. "And you don't have to respond, or forgive me. All I'm asking is for you to listen."
"Listen to what? The story of how you had sex with all these other girls while I was away?" I yelled. "No, I don't want to hear about it!"
"I'm a f*cking VIRGIN!" Robin shrieked. "I DON'T WANT TO HAVE... INTERCOURSE WITH ANYONE!"
"GOOD!" I yelled. "Cause you're too immature for that!"
"You're the one who's reading a book about the 7 habits of highly effective teens!" Robin shot back.
"Wow, great job trying to get me back! It's NOT HAPPENING!" I shouted.
"MY GOD! JUST F*CKING LISTEN TO ME!" Robin screamed.
"STOP CUSSING!" I screeched.
"STOP YELLING!"
"YOU STARTED IT!"
"SHUT UP!" A new voice yelled. We both whipped around to see Mom standing in the doorway.
"Allison!" Mom said angrily. "You're a guest! Stop yelling!"
"Yeah, ALLISON," Robin teased.
Mom raised an eyebrow at my ex. "You're a guest too, Robin. You're not even supposed to be here. You're only here because you were Batman's sidekick, and you couldn't even keep that title!"
"Don't you talk to me like that!" Robin shouted. "And stay away from Batman! I see the way you look at him! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, huh?"
Mom looked down at me. I quickly looked away.
"He doesn't know what he's talking about," I defended.
"Robin," a firm voice said.
Robin turned around, suddenly losing all his anger. His fists unclenched as he looked up at Batman.
"I... I just... just wanted to... talk things out..." Robin stammered.
I let out a sarcastic laugh. "Busted."
"Quit it, Allison," Batman told me. "After your behavior a couple hours ago, you can't say anything about this."
"Batman, I swear I didn't mean to hurt her," Robin begged. "Please... don't..."
"Come with me," Batman said, gripping Robin's arm tightly. Robin looked over his shoulder at me, his face filled with regret.
But mine?
Mine was filled with annoyance.
"I'll deal with you later, Allison," Batman called to me.
"What are you going to do, hand me over to the Joker?" I asked with a laugh.
"I thought he was in Arkham Asylum," Mom said, immediately glaring at me. "Have you... have you lied to me?"
"No, he is. I was making a..." I smirked at the pun. "A joke."
"Oh my God," Robin sighed, face-palming. "You're such a nerd."
"Right back at you!" I yelled. I quickly ran into my room and locked the door. Seconds later, I was crying.
I thought of Shawn Mendes's "The Weight" as the story of Robin and I's relationship.
"I wanna go back, forget that it's over."
"Paint it in black, when you left me alone."
"I never knew, she was sleeping next door with the kid I grew up with."
"And I can't go back to her, anymore."
"You tell me you were happier with him, but you want me to stay."
"And you told me that you needed time but you, you pushed me away."
"And when you try to take me back, my heavy heart just breaks."
"No, I can't lift the weight."
I laid down in my bed, tears streaming down my cheeks, and cried myself to sleep.
