Chapter 65- Ditto
Opening my eyes to the sun streaming through the window, you'd hardly think it was Christmas day but here we are in LA on Christmas day in close to thirty-degree heat.
"Gigi, Colton!" A little voice can be heard from the hallway outside, then the pitter-patter of tiny feet enter the room, "Wake up! Wake up!" Suddenly the bed is being bounced on my Arlo and Alessio.
Colton groans beside me which makes me chuckle.
"Merry Christmas my munchkins." I scoop them into my arms and start tickling much to Colton's annoyance who just tries to hit me with a pillow, still half asleep.
"Santa's been! You have to come downstairs." They shout. I giggle at their antics but a pang of guilt surfaces, I used to do this every year for Luca and now... I don't even know where he is. I hope he's having a good Christmas regardless.
"We'll be down in a minute, sleeping beauty needs to wake up first." I chuckle looking at Colton's half-naked body spread out under the sheets. The kids laugh and hop off the bed running into the next room where Sofia and Jacob are, presumably to wake them up.
Colton makes a grunting noise which turns into a type of yawn.
"What's the time." He runs his hand down his scruff lined face as I grab my phone.
"Six- twenty-three. Merry Christmas baby." I lean down and place a kiss on his lips.
"I love you but it's way too early." He moans. I giggle getting up and picking one of his massive hoodies out of his drawer, slipping it over my head. I lean my hand down to give him a hand out of bed but he catches me off guard and yanks me down so I'm lying on him. My hands spread out on his chest and my legs tangled in with him. He lifts my chin and places his lips on mine, fire spreads through my body as his tongue slips past my lips, I move my hands to glide through his hair as his own end up on my ass. As he pulls away I bite on his bottom lip, earning a small grunt which makes me chuckle.
"Merry Christmas doll." He smiles, his sparkly eyes wander my face.
"Merry Christmas my love." I reciprocate his smile and place a kiss on his nose.
After Colton and I had finally got up we join the others down in the kitchen. Sofia, Jacob, Anto and his family had arrived last night along with the majority of Colton's extended family. It's a good thing the Hemmings live in a bloody mansion. Sofia said Bleu and his family are arriving nearer lunchtime since they had stuff to do at home before they left.
"Morning my loves." Emma greets us as we walk in, the air filled with cinnamon, nutmeg and other festive spices. She's flipping some cinnamon buns and cookies out onto a plate which Sofia and the kids are grateful tucking into.
"Merry Christmas babe!" Sofia greets wrapping her arms around my neck.
"Merry Christmas everyone!" I say as cheerfully as I can for someone who's just been woken up with a start. Colton on the other hand slumps down into his chair with a small grunt. I chuckle wrapping my arms around him from behind and place a small kiss on his cheek.
"Now everyone's up we can open presents!" Armaury says walking into the kitchen in a pair of Christmas pyjamas, clapping his hands.
"What about Bleu?" I ask as everyone starts to file into the living room where the twenty-foot, precisely decorated tree is.
"Oh, he's already here, arrived early morning," Sofia says nonchalantly getting down from the stool and wrapping her arm around me.
We walk into the tree-clad area where Marsha, Anto and Jacob are sat with the kids on the sofa whilst they eat their body weight in chocolate and Colton's extended family are poking and prodding the hundreds of gifts under the tree. I'm bought to a halt when I spot Bleu stood in the doorway on the other side of the room, one arm around his wife who's holding Zada and another arm around... Luca.
I look to Sofia as if to say 'pinch me' but she just grins at me brightly and nods her head.
"Gigi!" He shouts when he sees me, immediately he comes bolting towards me and I drop to my knees, strangling him in a death hold like hug.
I revel in the clutch of his tiny arms, "I'm so sorry baby. I'm so so so sorry." I cry into his tiny body.
"Why?" He giggles.
"Because you- I-" I stutter... why isn't he upset or angry?
"I wasn't gone that long and I stayed with this really nice lady who made me pancakes every morning. I really missed you though." He leans into my shoulder and I can't help but chuckle, If I don't I'll cry.
"I missed you so so so much too." Only he would be ripped from his home and only focus on the fact he was given pancakes in the morning.
"You don't need to be sad Gigi, I'm not sad, I'm okay. Uncle Bleus already explained some stuff to me and I get to live with him all the time now." He beams, I look up at Bleu.
"We got the right to be his legal guardian about a week ago but we wanted it to be a surprise." He smiles.
I get up off the floor and hug Bleu, "Thank you," I whisper.
"Can we open our presents now!" Arlo shouts making us all laugh.
"Come on buddy." Colton picks Luca up and we all walk over to the tree where presents are being handed out to the kids since they were the most eager obviously.
After all the presents are dispersed there's a final one sat right at the back of the tree. It's a massive box with a bow on top. Armaury slides it out and over to me with a grin.
"For me?" I ask questionably sizing up the box, I peel back the tag on the top.
For my light x
I look over at Colton who's sat there with a stupid smirk on his face, watching my movements carefully. He nods for me to open the box so I carefully tare the wrapping paper from it and open up the two flaps that are taped over the top. Inside lays half a tone of packing peanuts.
I send Colton a look as my hands delve into the stylophone sea. I keep digging and digging but I can't feel anything, the packing peanuts end up around the box on the floor and eventually I reach the bottom where a small strip of paper is laying.
So much for reducing packaging for the environment eh?
I pick up the slip and study the cursive writing, the only thing on it is an address- it's a road I'm sure we've passed before down in Hollywood.
"What's this?" I ask, Colton as he helps me off the floor, out of the mess I've made.
"That is where your present is- so get dressed we're going out."
I'm happy Colton's leg healed so fast, he only ended up having the cast for four weeks then he was put into a kind of splint thing for the next two weeks and then he was free, he's been doing bits of physio so he's able to do normal things like driving... I've really missed watching him drive.
After he jumps into the driver's seat I lace our fingers together over the centre console, he looks at me and smiles before starting the engine and driving away from his parent's house.
Twenty minutes later Colton turns the car off the main road and into a private residential area, we've driven past this before and I remember gushing to Colton about how amazing these houses were. They're massive and hold the best views in LA. Eventually, he drives up a long driveway headed by massive gates and parks the car outside of this mansion-like white house.
It's a very modern design, headed with large windows and fancy designs but is classy- scrap that, it's beautiful. The windows look as big as one wall in my apartment and the double doors tower over my five-foot frame. The drive is long enough to fit at least twelve cars on and the view peaking behind the house is exceptional.
"So... uh what are we doing here? Who lives here?" With help from Colton, I jump down from the passenger side of the car.
"Well... uh... we do." He rubs her neck nervously as I turn from the glory in front of me to look at him.
"What?"
"Merry Christmas Spiller." He smiles sheepish and places a set of keys into my hand. I glare at the silver that reflects the sun then back at him.
"I don't understand- is this a joke?" I- what? What is going?
"Look Gigi, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, make memories in a place that's ours, raise our kids in a happy home- a home full of us. So I guess what I'm asking is, Will you move in with me?" I stare at him with a blank face, unsure of what to say. "If you don't like this house we can look at others! We don't have to move here I just remember you saying how much you loved it here and I-" before he can carry on waffling I launch myself into his arms and wrap my arms around his neck.
A thousand emotions are whirling through me right now but as my eyes fill with tears the only words I can manage are, "I love you."
His grip on my tightens as he lifts me off the ground and I wrap my legs around his waist, his lips press against mine and tease with a nibble.
"Is that a yes?"
I take a deep breath, all the negative thoughts being drowned away by the positive.
"Yes," I whisper against his lips.
"Merry Christmas Sweetheart."
After looking around the house I know without even looking at others this is the one, it's mine, it's ours. Firstly Colton chose it and put so much into making it perfect for me. Secondly, I can see us making it a home. I can see us messing around in the kitchen as Colt watches me cook. I can see us snuggled on the balcony watching Netflix next to the fire. I can see us spending days off in the blistering heat lounging about the pool which is the length of a bloody runway, or watching the sunset on the roof which has a bloody bar up there. Making music in the built-in studio and hosting parties for all our friends in the luscious gardens.
I can see us. Colton and Gigi. Living happily together.
Now I just have to tell everyone I'm... leaving London.
I honestly never thought I'd move out of London. It's my home, where I grew up, where I thought I'd live out my life.
We walk through the front door, hand in hand and head straight for the kitchen where Christmas dinner preparations have begun. I immediately jump in to help Emma and Grandma T since they have a fuck of a lot of people to cook for and shoo Colton away since I know he'll be no help anyway.
"So how did you like your present, my love?" Grandma T raises her eyebrow as she peels carrots.
"Did you know?" I chuckle, I wouldn't be surprised.
"Maybe." She winks as Emma turns to us from the stove.
"What was it, I didn't know." I giggle getting all giddy again.
"Well uh... Colt bought us a house..." I smile into the pot of potatoes.
"A house? Why would- oh. Oh my god. Are you two-" she squeals in excitement and runs over to hug me.
" Yeah, I guess you'll be seeing me a lot more!" I giggle.
"Why's that?" Sofia enters the kitchen munching on a bit of chocolate catching the end of our conversation. Oh shit. I thought I'd have a lot more time before I told her, prepare some speech or something. "Wouldn't have something to do with your Christmas present would it?" She grins, wiggling her brows. She knows. That bitch.
"You know!" I whip her with a Tea-towel.
"Yeah Colt told me a while ago." She chuckles.
"You're not mad? I really don't want to leave you-"
"No I'm not mad, I never would be, but actually I have something to tell you..." she bites her lip, "I'm moving to LA too. I got offered a job here. Styling for the stars! Like I always dreamed."
My best friend is moving to LA too. It seems we will get to live out our ten-year-old dream after all. I squeal jumping up and down.
"I'm so proud of you Sofi. I love you so much!" I encase her in a hug. Things are going to be alright.
Sat around the dinner table I scan the faces that all hold smiles as they shove an array of Christmas foods into their mouths.
Last year I was eating leftovers in a dingy flat, recovering from a traumatic past but now I'm eating a banquet of rich cuisines, with the love of my life's family... still recovering but now healing.
As I eat whatever the fuck I want I appreciate the love and support that flys from this table. People who have helped me stand on my feet and push me to be my best self.
I wouldn't be me without them.
After dinner we all end up around the bonfire again, singing, laughing and eating, watching the stars twinkle in the night sky.
I'm sat in Coltons lap humming to the song someone's playing further over.
"Shit," I mutter, sitting up.
"What's up?" Colton asks to my alerting behaviour.
"I never got to give you your presents!" I exclaim.
"Well after last night-" he chuckles as I send a hand into his chest signalling from him to shut the fuck up.
I run into the house to grab his presents that are still in his room and dash back out to the garden. I hand him the first one which is awfully wrapped but it's the thought that counts right?
I watch carefully as he unwraps it and pulls out a white shirt. His face clouds with confusion as to why I've got him a plain white shirt.
"I told you I'd pay you back right?" I giggle referring to his expensive designer shirt I'd gotten whisky over. It's the exact same one, I managed to pull some strings.
He lets out a bellow of laugher and shakes his head.
"I- this is too funny. I can't believe you've done this." He laughs.
I pull out the second one which is a very large thin-looking thing. It's probably the size of a single bed but as thin as cardboard.
"Now this isn't as extravagant as a house or nearly as expensive as one... to be fair it looks a bit stupid compared to your present but here you go." I hand him the large parcel.
"Don't be ridiculous. It won't be stupid. I'll love it because it's from you." He carefully peels back the paper and I start explaining when it's completely free of packaging.
"Okay so, this is a world map obviously that I painted, my artistic skills aren't the best but I tried," I chuckle, " Every little Guitar pushpin is a place we've been on tour and pined to it, is one photo or memory of us that shows how fucking crazy our relationships been."
He examines the board and the pins, there are pictures of us in Barcelona in the sea and the market, pictures from Italy, random pictures we've taken in hotel rooms or the back of tour busses and pictures others have taken of us rehearsing together or passed out in the back of the jet. Pictures from Rock in Rio and the football game. My favourite one is a picture Emma took of us around the fire at thanksgiving.
"Gigi I love it. This is honestly the best thing I've ever got. You've put some much time and thought into it and I just... I just love it." He smiles, his eyes dazzling in the firelight, "Come here." He says pulling me back onto his lap and bringing his lips down to mine. The heat travels between our mouths and the desire is dripping through our muscles. I will never get used to kissing this boy.
"I'm so grateful I met you and so thankful I get to spend the rest of time with you." He smiles.
"Ditto baby. I guess we've come full circle."
