Chapter 3: My New Home
*Recap*
"So, here's where the showers are," he started, "there should be some towels and some spare clothes in the lockers. Come and find me at my place when you're done." He went to walk away when a girl ran up to him and hugged him. They pulled away and kissed.
He has a girlfriend??
*
No shit, of course he does. What were you thinking Emily?!
I clutched my locket.
They pulled away from their kiss. "Jasper, everyone's been worried sick! Where have you been?!"
"Just out hunting," he replied, showing off the squirrel collection on his back. The girl smiled, then noticed me. Her face softened.
"Who's this, Jasper?" She looked me up and down but didn't say anything.
"This is Emily. I met her while I was out. Emily, this is Abby."
"Nice to meet you." She stuck her hand out for me to shake, and surprisingly didn't mind that they were dirty. I took her hand in mine and shook it. I grabbed my locket immediately after.
Wow, she's so nice.
We pulled away. "So Abby," Jasper began, "could you help Emily wash up?" She nodded and gestured for me to follow her. As I did so, I felt eyes burn into the back of me but didn't dare turn around. Abby and I walked into the girls' showers. There were about 7 showers, separated by thin walls, lined up on the right and on the left were gray lockers.
"Well here we are," she pointed out. "You can get washed up in the showers and there should be towels and some spare clothes in the lockers." She turned to walk out, but stopped and looked back at me. "And feel free to walk around town, get to know people, you know?" I nodded and she left.
How the fuck is she so nice? I'm gonna have a hard time hating her.
I stood there for a second and began to walk toward the lockers. I opened the first one, and just as they said, there were clothes and towels. There were 3 shelves. On the top one it had dark brown towels and rags. One the second was a gray T-shirt and some boyfriend jeans. On the last shelf, there was some used, white tennis shoes. Now that I think of it, all of the clothes were used. I closed the locker and checked the next one.
The next one had the same dark brown towels and rags on the first shelf, however, the next shelf had different clothes. There was a fitting, white shirt with blue jeans. On the bottom shelf, there was a black, leather jacket with gold studded black boots. These clothes were quite clean. I smiled to myself and grabbed the clothes and the towels. I walked to a shower, set the clothes on a bench outside of the shower and walked in. I closed the curtains behind me and began to take off my clothes, throwing them over the curtains onto the bench, but I made sure my locket was set down nicely. I turned on the shower and began washing up.

I stood underneath the steaming water, rubbing my toe along the drain in the floor.
Is this really happening to me?
I turned off the water, grabbed my towel and wrapped it around me.
What is going on out there?
I grabbed my clothes from the bench and went back behind the curtain.
How could one little product cause all of this?
I went back to grab my bra and underwear, then began getting dressed.
What about my family?
I grabbed my towel, walked past the curtain and sat on the bench. I grabbed my old socks and put them on.
I'm so selfish! How could I just leave them?!
Then, I grabbed the boots, threw them on and put on my locket. Pulling my hair into a ponytail, I walked over to a full body mirror and looked at myself.
Not bad, Emily.
I walked to the bench, grabbed my backpack and walked out. I smirked to myself.
Not bad at all.

I've been walking around this town for a few minutes now, and I already hate it. The people here are rude as hell, the organization of the buildings suck, and I'm starving but don't trust anyone here. Although, a lot of the people that were walking around were girls and I'm guessing I'm not very popular with them.
I turn the corner and see what looks like a mini park. There was a large patch of green grass with a bench, a big oak tree, and a small bird fountain that didn't work. Underneath the oak tree sat a girl reading a book. She looked about my age. She was mixed and had brown curly hair.
She seems nice enough. I guess I'll ask her.
I walked over to her and she looked up at me.
"Hi!"
"Hey, um, I'm looking for Jasper's place. Would you happen to know where that is?"
Her eyebrows raised and pointed at me. "So your that new girl?"
I chuckled a little. "I guess so."
"Uhh, sure! I'm basically done with this book anyway..." She stood up and I peeped at the title. Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azkaban. I loved that book. "... I usually don't let anything get between me and my reading time." She giggled. She has such a cute giggle. I smiled slightly. "So what's your name?" We started walking.
"Emily. And your's?"
"Asia, but everyone calls me Asia." We laughed. "Nice to meet you," she stuck her hand out for me to shake as we were about to turn a corner. I gladly accepted. There was a pause. "So... how did you meet Jasper?"
"Let's just say... it was through the walkers." She mouthed 'Oh' and smiled.
"Gotcha." We walked in silence for a little bit.
"So what's the big deal about this Jasper guy? I mean, what's so special about him?" I asked.
"Well," Asia started, "he's the son of the man who made this place happen, he basically devotes his life for this place. He always goes on every run, making sure this place has what it needs. And not to mention, he's super hot."
I nodded. "How did you get here?" I asked. She looked at the ground. There was a pause. "You don't have to answe--"
"No, its fine," she reassured. "It started when my house was ambushed and my parents were killed. My brother was there but I just assumed he died as well. I heard his screams..." Damn. She watched her parents die? "I managed to get out of the house and began to wander around. I set up a small camp in the woods. Then, a few days later, Jasper And the crew with him found me and offered a place to stay. I gladly accepted, obviously," she slightly laughed, trying to lighten the mood a little, I presume.
"Wow. I'm so sorry," is all I managed to say. She chuckled. "And who is 'the crew?'"
"It's fine, really," She insisted. "And 'the crew' is like the runners. They go out and collect food, supplies, protect this place when it's ambushed. They're very well respected."
"Oh ok."
We walked in silence for a while, then she stopped in front of a house. I stopped as well. It was made of bricks and had a bright red door. This house seemed larger than the others. There was no doubt in my mind that Asia hadn't led me astray.
"Here we are," she said, gesturing toward the front door. "If you need anything, just holler. Most likely, I'll be by my tree." She smiled at me. I smiled back. She turned and walked away. I looked up at the house and hesitated, then began up the stone path.
How did they manage to build a whole town in the matter of a few hours?
I knocked on the door and waited. There was no answer. I knocked again. No answer. I ratted for a third time and still, there was no answer. I then reached for the knob and turned. The door was unlocked. I walked in and looked around. It was a basic home on the inside. A living room with a couch, a T.V., a couple chairs. The dining room had a very designed rug layed out with a rectangle table and chairs surrounding it. Then, I heard something upstairs.
I turned and went for the stairs. The stairs were narrow and made of wood. On the wall was a painting of Vincent Van Gough's Starry Night.
Oh, how I loved art.
I walked around cautiously and heard a noise in the room to my right. I turned my head slowly, not believing what I had just heard.
Was that a moan??
