Chapter 5 - Escape!

SLIGHT TRIGGER WARNING: where the dotted line is, is the start of an action scene which includes violence. It was a lot of fun to write though so please read it. It's also important to the story line.

Dan's POV

Phil and I chuckle away at her videos. Phil smiles and I rest my head on the back of the couch. He thinks momentarily biting his lip. "What's wrong?" I ask.

"I think I know where I recognise her." He says crossing his legs.

"Really?! Where from."

"Well...you said that she was watching our videos since basically the beginning, right?"

"Yeah..." I trail off, nodding for him to continue.

"I recognise the channel name, she used to leave comments all the time and I think I've also seen some of her videos that were in my recommended tab."

"You know she probably still leaves comments." I say crossing my arms.

"Probably, but there's so many that'd we'd never be able to find them."

"Yeah, you're right." I divert my attention from Phil and look at the side bar, there is a video that has recently been uploaded. Phil sees it too.

"Should we?"

"Yeah." I click on the video and watch on as she explains her situation. Poor girl, in some way I wish that I'd reached out to her a long time ago, maybe she wouldn't be in this situation.

"It's not your fault Dan." Phil puts a comforting hand on my shoulder.

"I know, but I feel like I could've prevented this mess." Phil sighs in response.

"Dan, you can't help everyone you know, besides how were you to know this would've happened." After a few seconds silence I respond.

"I guess you're right," I whisper. I glance at the clock on my screen. 2:34 am. "Jesus, it's late...or should I say early." I stand up from the couch and approach the door to the hallway. "Night Phil." I pause. "And thanks for not making me feel like a terrible human being." He stifles a small chuckle and smiles.

"That's okay Dan. Night." He gives a small wave and I open the door to my bedroom and let it swing shut behind me. I switch on my fairy lights and get changed then climb into the cold bed, wrapping the covers around me I turn off the lights and drift off to sleep thinking about (Y/N).

*Your POV*

You laze around in your room and take a bite from the pizza you just bought for dinner. You take another bite while intently watching the screen of your computer. You process todays happenings while watching various videos from Dan and Phil. Hah, wouldn't it be cool if he was watching my videos. But that's probably not the case you think to yourself. The frown disappears off your face as you remember that he asked for your number. But he'll never text me back. You let out a sigh and lean back against the wall. It was no secret to yourself that you were dealing with personal issues. You'd just been kicked out of home, no more loving family, no more homemade meals, having to hide your channel. It was a win lose situation. Gain friends and freedom, and pay the price and fall into an eternal spiral of unsureness. But if there was one thing you would never do, something that you vowed you'd never do was bring harm to others and yourself. You were strong and willing to fight for your future. That getting through all this is worth it, you just have to get through this part. Just as Dan had said in his videos, and you took that to heart.

You hear a knocking on your door that thankfully disturbs you from your thoughts, you pause the video that your mind had wondered from and take out your headphones. "Come in." You say loudly. The door is slowly pushed open and Alroy pokes his head out from behind.

"Just thought I might mention...erm...I'm having a party here tonight. Forgot to tell you, you know, since you were out and all."

"Umm, yeah. That's fine." You reply forcing a small smile onto your face.

"Good." He goes to leave but comes back. "It won't be too out of control I promise."

And boy was it out of control.

You turn your music up to full volume but it isn't enough. Screams, yelling and loud thumping music still manage to break your cocoon like state. You groan and roll over onto your side, closing your eyes and try to fall asleep once again. After a minute, you take out your earphones and sit up. The door slams open making you jump.

"Yo, random girl who lives here." The drunken man sways side to side. "Come join, it's totally dank down here." He slurs his words. You frown at the man and shake your head.

"Umm, you know what. Maybe not right now, I-I'm really tired."

"Oh, come on..." He enters your room and you instantly stand up defensively. He moves towards you and reaches out for your wrist. You slap it away.

"I said I'm tired." You stand your ground. He inches towards you and starts to slide an arm around you. You push him away causing him to stumble drunkenly backwards. "Get out." You sneer having had enough of this nonsense. He glares at you and turns to walk out of the room. You let out a sigh and rest against the wall. But suddenly he turns and strides back in.

"Actually...on second thought." He slams the door enclosing you and him in the room, alone. He menacingly comes towards you and you inch towards the corner out of fear. His arm shoots out against the wall leaving no escape. He leans his head in towards your neck and whispers into your ear. "I'll make you pay." His breath making you feel sick from the alcohol. Your breath hitches as you tremble slightly. Your mind rushes for a solution to get you out of this mess. He pins your arms above your head against the wall, you only have a few moments to get out of this. It's now or never. You close your eyes momentarily and take a deep breath in calming your nerves. You think back to those self-defence lessons your parents bought you when you were fourteen. (Or if you do a martial art just say that you do/did that~I do shotokan karate btw)

Your eyes open and narrow, determination making your adrenalin pump through your veins. You can hear your own heart beat in your ears. With one swift motion, you bring your hands down breaking the grip he has on you. With no second thought, you knee him in the stomach making him wheeze and end it with a final kick to the lower region where he screams out in pain. You pause as you watch him bend over and take a few steps back. You free yourself from the wall and start to run to the door but are held back by the pain of him pulling at your hair. He bear hugs you form behind, trapping you in his grip. You reach behind you and grab at his belt loop. You lean forward throwing him forward towards the ground but you come down with him. The air is forced out of your lungs as you fall onto your back. Now winded, you stand up and reach for your phone and put it in your pocket. Just as you grasp a taste of freedom and run towards the door he pulls at your ankle making you fall on your face. Your face is numb and the taste of irony blood fills your mouth. You struggle for freedom but fail. He pulls you closer and grabs your forearm. You glare at him and bite his arm. He shrieks out in pain and completely lets go of you. You successfully run to the door this time. Turning the door handle you open the door with full force and run down the stairs. You push past the people mindlessly dancing to the thumping music and out the front door.

You don't turn back as you sprint down the alley way and stop at the exit. You hear footsteps behind you causing you to peer over your shoulder only to see the man. "How the hell-" You mutter at the fact that he's still running after you. You look out onto the street and sprint down the footpath. How am I going to escape this guy, I was lucky the first time...but now? And it's not like I can just take cover in a store, they're all closed since its almost midnight. I can't text Dan because I don't have his number and I can't message him on twitter because he doesn't follow me, does he? You keep running away from the drunken man as you think of an escape. You wipe your bloody nose on your sleeve. Your breath heaves as you become more tired, the footsteps get louder. But you keep going. You turn the upcoming corner. Cars are parked almost bumper to bumper. You look behind you and he is nowhere to be found, only distant shouting can he heard. As it becomes louder you duck in between a car and a truck and craw breathlessly underneath the truck taking refuge. You hear his running pace becoming louder. You hold your breath as you see his feet. They slow and he stops beside the truck. You see him pace back and forth as your breath starts to run out. You can't hold it for much longer but luck is on your side and he turns and runs back to the house.

You take in a deep breath of air to slow your racing heart. You slowly push yourself from underneath the truck, your palms scraping against the stony rode. You wince as you stand up and wipe your bleeding nose once more. You continue to walk down the footpath, away from the house of course. You feel dazed and slightly dizzy from all the running and the recent events. After ten minutes of walking you reach a small park. You find a bench and sit down on it, finally being able to rest your aching legs.

You take out your phone. "Dammit." You mutter as you look at the slightly cracked screen from the fall. Who am I going to call, I could call the cops, but that would make things more complicated wouldn't it? I can't call anyone I know, I can't call Dan or Phil. You put your hands in your head and groan. "What am I going to do." You cry out, a single tear escaping your tired eyes.

There was nothing you could no, not right now at least. As time passes and the chirping of the crickets and hooting of the owls sends you off into a dazed sleep. You lie down on the bench and sleep overcomes you.
