This Is What It Takes

(Play the song.)

Sebastian's P.O.V.

It's been a long day of shooting and being in the car on the way out of set was a slight relief. Partly because I enjoy what I do, but I also enjoy the little moments that could be easily taken away from me.

I sat at the backseat with Niklaus' head on my shoulder. The light of the setting sun was fading from the sky but the beams were still bright and rested softly on her features. The tranquil look on her face makes me want to ignore the rest of the world.

According to the Matt, the park was 20 minutes away from the hospital. Which was convenient for the both of them.

Niklaus stirs and pauses. She then turns to look at me from under her eyelashes. Her lips were turned into an affectionate smile and her eyes had that dazed look in them.

She drops her right hand and takes mine into hers.

"I had a dream... we were in.. Uhm. A train." She lowers her gaze on top of our interlocking fingers. I didn't need to see her face to know that she was smiling.

I wait for her to continue, earnestly.

"You. You came in and I was sitting and I looked at you. You had this really nice smile on your face and I thought it looked cute, but I couldn't hear you though. when you spoke... You just kind of opened your mouth and sat down." Showing interest in her story to push her to go on, I hum.

"Mhmm."

"And this song. It's a really nice song. I think it's.... Q-Queen?"

"Somebody to love?"

She sits up straight.

"You psychic?"

"Nope. Just a guess." Smiling down at her, fix her hair by tucking it behind her ear.

"It's a great guess... And so like... You spoke to me and you offered me coffee but then everything was gone... I really waned to see what happened." It wasn't a sad tone. It was like being temporarily upset but eventually getting over it.

"If it makes you feel any better , it's the first time we met."I play with her hair while her head goes back on my shoulder.

"Did it go well?"

"Define well."

"As in did I freak you out or something? I'm pretty .. Weird. Y'know."

I mean honestly...

She was the perfect mix of geeky and nerdy.

"Oh, yeah. You were fucking weird, but then again. So am I. I guess it just works that way." She laughs.

The car slowed down beside a sidewalk infront of the park with the view of New Jersey and the body of water seperating the two states.

I get out of the car first to open her door on the opposite side, which was closer to the sidewalk.

"M'lady."

"Why thank you good sir." She says in a fake posh accent, taking my hand as she stepped out of the vehicle.

"So, we're just walking around now. But I did promise you food." I slam the door close and wave at Matt while I interwined my arm with Niklaus'.

We started walking under the dulcet, aureate beams of the setting sun arm in arm going to the nearest shack or restaurant's direction.

It was a slow walk. The cherishing kind, I suppose.

All we did was look at each other when the other was not looking and gazing admirably on wherever our eyes land.

Which was either her or... Her.

"Bassy, look." It was an excited whisper mixed with light poking on my arm. Niklaus' hand flies up to point at the sky and I followed  through with my eyes.

"It's fucking stunning." She comments. I stared back at her instead of the sunset. She was gleaming brighter than the rays on the sky at that moment, her eyes reflecting the excitement she was currently expressing without a single movement.

I was falling more and more in love with her and I just hope I never hit the ground because I'd never trade the feeling of having to look at someone radiating passion that I'd never truly understand.

Niklaus' P.O.V

"You're stunning..." It was an indistinct comment but my face seemed to have heard the words very clearly. My cheeks heat up and I was hoping for the best. The best being the sun hiding it. Or not.

"Why are you so nice to me." Mentally facepalming as to why he is, I turn and he was staring at me with so much love it looked like a Disney movie. Like what was that one movie with the blonde. Uhm.

Rapunzel.

I think.

Yes, that's the one.

It's funny that I remember a film but very few about who I'm with at the moment. However, I catch Sebastian looking at me like I'm a crowned jewel one too many times. It's a great feeling, but I feel undeserving.

"Because you deserve it." He answers almost right away as I thought about why I don't deserve it.

It was stupefying, but I don't wanna be an even bigger asshole and argue against that.

"You deserve it too... But look what I did to you." I lift his arm, the one with the healing gash from when I died. It must have hurt so much to hear about the one you care for dying moments after you said see you soon. It's just plain cruel. (Unintentionally fucked up pun)

I flash it to him. He shrugs.

"It wasn't your fault. Even if you think you don't deserve kindness after what happened... It's kind of what I'm here for.."

"So pity?"

"No."

"What then?"

"You're going to laugh." He shyly shakes his head, smiling at the thought.

"Try me, Stan" I cross my arms over my chest, my full attention on him as I start to ignore the sunset.

"Maybe.. Just maybe because that's what people who are in love are supposed to do. Care for each other and know their needs even when they haven't been told. It's something" I take time to let it sink. The words. He was right and I knew that.

But the pause meant something else to him.

"See.. I told you that you're gonna laugh." He was unnerved. His body language hunching was enough to tell you that.

"But I'm not laughing...I actually agree. Thank you, Sebastian."

"You agree?"

"It makes me happy."

"Well, if This is what it takes to make you happy... "
