Prologue

"They're beautiful, Specklemist..." Recalled a red-orange tom, as he licked his mate with pride.
Specklemist chuckled. "Oh, thank you. Come in, and look at your kits, Flareswirl." She purred.
Flareswirl perked his tufted ears in delight. He looked down at two small bundles of fur, which both of them, took the earthy colors of their parents. One kit, a silver and orange, the other a deep brown.
The proud father gently flicked a tongue over the tiny, defenseless kits. "They look like a mix of us." He commented, straightening his lithe posture. "The silver and orange certainly gets the coloring from both of us, while the brown kit gets the coloring from you, but the strong body like me."

"Oh yes. Whatever they are, they couldn't be more perfect. Do you have any name ideas?" The tortoiseshell queen asked.
Flareswirl cocked his broad head slightly. "Yes. For the dark brown kit, we will name her Raykit. In honor of my father, Raystripe." He purred. He then set his dark brown gaze on the other kit, smaller, curled around into a tight ball. "Hm..." He pondered.
"Archkit." Specklemist murmured softly.
"What?" Flareswirl turned to her. He twitched his tail, and swiveled his tawny ears back.
"I like the name Archkit. When I was only an apprentice, I always liked the name." She told him. "Besides, she just looks like one."
Flareswirl blinked at her, before smiling. "Archkit it is." He rubbed against his mate, then looked at his kits, and his toothy grin grew even wider. "Beautiful, simply beautiful."

Now, another queen was at the other end of the nursery, a light brown and gray she-cat, with the name of Rabbitleaf. Rabbitleaf was a frail, weak she-cat, and wasn't a very honored cat in the clan. Her secret mate, Frondvine, wasn't even a mere mate to her. She was pregnant, her swollen belly heaving with kits. She wrapped her thin, dappled tail around her paws, as she laid down.

The she-cat watched Specklemist and Flareswirl, with an attentive pose. Her ears were pointing forward, and her small, velvety black nose sniffed the air. "Yes..." She murmured. "Perfect..."

Well! I hope you liked that! :P This way very fun to write! :3 Have any questions? Comments? :D
