Marquése's eyes blink open, welcoming in the new morning.
His head turns to the small table in Kiara's room and glances at the shining object reflecting light into his eyes.
A crown
A crown that has been worn by so many people before him, some great and some not. That feeling it brought to him was one he didn't want to dwell on but besides his better judgement he did.
Marquése raises from the bed with a sigh, walking over to the table.
He sits on a chair in the room, holding the crown in his hand and trying to hold his worries within.
His princess stirs in their bed, turning over and reaching for the spot which he once laid. He watches her intently as she touches the empty space and her face contorting with displeasure.
"Marq?"
She was awake now, just by not feeling his presence beside her.
"I'm right here baby."
Marquése walks over to Kiara, smiling softly as she stares up at him happily and gets onto his knees to partially lay on the bed in front her.
"Hi."
"Hi. How are you feeling? Sore?"
"No." She blushes profusely
"Really? Because I seem to remember biting -"
"Don't you dare say another word." She laughs loudly.
Marquése climbs into bed with her, settling in as she wraps her arms around him, pulling him in and he kisses her forehead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marquése takes his seat on the throne, speaking to the head general.
"So what's on the agenda for today?"
"We don't have anything much scheduled, I guess the people of Pack Vencer are behaving themselves for once."
"Actually I have a problem."
"What is it princess?"
"The people locked up in those dungeons need to come out."
"Princess I'm sorry but that can't happen."
The lead general speaks up but Kiara is not satisfied by that answer and she never will be.
"Some of the people in there did little to nothing to end up in that place probably because they pissed my father off. They do not deserve to be in there and I've waited too long to get them out!"
The princess's voice was strong, loud and unwavering, and by the sound of things Marquése knew that she wasn't going to let this go easily.
"Kiara who do you want to come out?"
"Everyone-"
"That can't happen, some of those people are dangerous." The general informed them
"Fine, then I want those who have committed minor offenses to be let out and I have someone specific that I won't negotiate on."
"Who is that?"
"His name is Theo."
"Can I and the princess have the room please?"
"Of course my King."
Everyone in the throne room exited the door, locking it behind them to give the King and Princess some privacy.
A small growl ripples throughout the room that has Kiara rising from her seat.
"Marquése what's wrong?" She speaks softly thinking that something was wrong with him, moving in his direction.
In a complete millisecond Kiara's back was pressed into a corner and he traps her in with his large hands.
"Marquése, what are you doing?"
The complete shock she felt in that moment was unexplainable.
"Who is he?"
He growls out again and she catches the look in his eyes, he was completely livid.
Kiara stares up at the angry man pining her to the cold corner of the room, wondering what the hell has gotten into him.
"Who is he?" He demands again but she was utterly confused about what he is talking about .
"Who is whom? I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Theo."
"What?"
"What happened between you and this Theo person?"
In that moment Kiara's mind takes over, bringing her back to the things she went through in the dungeons and Theo.
However, she was quickly pulled from her thoughts when her body received a hard jerk.
"Are you seriously standing here fantasizing about that, that-"
"That what?"
"Another man!" He screams
"Please don't tell me that you're jealous right now." To that statement she received no answer and that was confirmation enough.
His face looks like it changes to red with anger instead,
"I'm the only one you should be thinking about with that look on your face. I'm the only person for you. I'm your mate goddammit!" He shouts at Kiara, like he has completely lost his shít, cutting off her thoughts.
"Marquése it isn't like that he-"
But she couldn't finish the sentence because he cut her off again
"No one else should be crying out for you, touching you and you should definitely not be thinking about another man! Only me" he growls.
"Oh baby green really isn't a good color on you."
"Don't-"
"Marquése calm down and stop shouting at me, he is just a friend, if I could even call him that-" I start to say, going into defense mode but I'm cut off by his nose pressing into my neck, like he's searching for something.
"Is this his scent on your body?!" He's completely livid now and she couldn't believe him. Her mind goes completely blank to the situation and it's like she's watching a movie unfold.
"Friend my ass"
"You have got to be kidding me. The only person's scent that is on me is yours! I've been with you for what? Two days now? Who else am I suppose to smell of?!" Kiara raises her voice.
"Lower you voice" he growls.
"I will not be badgered by you! If you want my respect then you will have to earn it! King!"
She practically spits the words at him and the furnace burning in his eyes only seems to ignite more at her tone; but shes not done yet.
"See this is why I left home in the first place, to not be disrespected and forced to be mated with some inconsiderate, knucklehead, macho man and most definitely not to be accused by a mate like you!"
In that moment she was thinking to herself that maybe she shouldn't have said that. That she should've just kept her mouth shut considering that he was already jealous but she just had to bring up the destined mate her parents had so generously picked for her.
As soon as that sentence left her mouth she saw realization hit him like a bag of bricks. His wolf came to the forefront of his being rearing its primal head.
"What did you just say?" His voice was calm, so calm but she would have to be a damned idiot to ignore the sharp, deadly tone in which it was used.
His voice was deeper, too deep and in that moment she knew that it was definitely Greyson speaking.
Kiara whimpers in slight discomfort, not in pain but honestly slightly scared of jealous Marq. She hadn't seen this side of him from since before they came here.
She was still angry at his current behavior but then again he is her mate and it's his right to be, and no one else, so she just stood still.
"I'm sorry."
She may not like it right now but apologizing was the only thing that might calm him down.
"Are you really? Seems like you were just about ready to marry somebody else, who wasn't me"
Sh¡t
"That is in no way true."
"Who was the man your father wanted you to marry?"
"The one who you snapped his wrist."
"I should've snapped his neck instead."
"Greyson." She scolded
"And the other one? Theo? You have a lot of friends huh?"
"Stop."
"Who is he Kiara, your... lover?"
He asks her forcefully, his voice sounding tight anticipating her answer and she shakes her head at his words as she clears her throat to answer.
"I met him when we were in the dungeons together. I don't even know what his face looks like completely and no he is not my lover nor did I even know him before he became the only person who was there for me and got me through one of the most horrifying times of my life. So before you finish your plan in your head to kill him, make up and apology and a 'thank you' for keeping me sane when I all but wanted to die."
At the end of her statement, eyes returned to normal, hands were released and tempers were simmered.
"Walk out this room and free that man, if you think you're done acting like an asshole enough to do it.
Marquése, that is the only way I'm forgiving you for thrusting me up against that wall, no matter how hot it may have been."
He was still completely silent when she stepped away from him and walked out of the room with a smirk on her face and her head held high.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As soon as the door shuts after Kiara, Marquése sighs loudly,
"Oh my Goddess, I can't believe I just did that. Shit."
To say the least he was embarrassed that he and Greyson had behaved like that. That he pushed her into a corner, in anger and jealousy.
He didn't even want to think about it, so instead he walks up to the large gold doors, pulling them open to reveal the five generals still standing outside, waiting for their king to address them.
"Please come back in everyone, we have a lot to discuss."
