Chapter 20 - History
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"History is apart of us all, it's the background of which we all come from. And most times for us to get to the future we must first understand the past."
Everyone in the room was staring intensely at Marquése, most of all the Alpha King.
"Celestia, I see you've found your offspring."
"Don't you dare talk to her! You have no right to even look at her after all you've done."
"All I've done? Oh so she has told you everything then? Did you tell him everything Cele?"
His attention moves from Marquése to Celestia and she freezes in her spot, causing Marquése to get even more angry.
"What the hell are you going on about?"
The Queen scoffs her beside the king, shaking her head and he turns his head to look at her.
"I'm talking about history."
"You care about history? You want to talk about all the horrible things that you've done in the past?"
"Haha, you have no idea what I've done but I can enlighten you." the king laughs
"I don't need your enlightenment what I need is for you to stop all this nonsense."
"Last time I checked, I'm the king, not you and I can do whatever the hell I well please. Actually I think I'll tell you anyways. The war was about your-"
"Alderman no!" Celestia screams out and Marquése turns around to face her.
"Mom what's going on."
"I need to tell you what happened because if it comes from him he'll just twist it into his own evil way. So I have to be the one to tell you."
"Ok"
"A long time ago before I found my mate I visited this land and I met Alderman. He was a prince and I was just a girl, a stupid little girl and I- we fell in love."
"What?! You were in love with that monster?!"
"Marquése please calm down, I-I didn't mean to it just happened. We were young and stupid and we couldn't sense our mates yet. We fell in love and I stayed with him for a while until I was turned 18 and that's when I didn't feel the mate bond with him. I loved him but we didn't have that connection so my Alpha came for me and he took me home.
When I got home suitors from other lands were there looking for their mates, and that's how I met your father. I felt him right away and when we saw each other I felt it. He was my true mate and I left with him to his land, after some days, and we built a life there."
"And you had me."
"Yes, but then one day he came for me."
Celestia refers to Alderman and Marquése turns around, anger clear in his eyes; the only thing that was missing was color.
"What the hell is wrong with you! Why can't you just leave people be-"
"Because I love her!" The King shouted and it was like the building itself shook, all the people standing in it stood shocked.
"I loved her."
"Oh don't take it back now, you love her, you always have and you always will." The Queen sneered up at him.
Her eyes were slightly glossy, the tears clear in them and as soon as he saw it his anger fades; his face growing somber.
"I'm sorry Ciara."
He apologized to her but received no response.
"So wait, Celestia and Ciara? Boy was Luna playing tricks on you guys."
Khal thought out loud and Hailey hit him with her shoulder trying to get him to shut up.
He did so immediately.
"You have a mate of your own! What the hell is wrong with you!"
"You have no idea what it feels like to love someone and have them taken away from you!"
"Are you fúcking kidding me right now! You're the one that took them away from me! You're the one that keeps taking everything I love away from me!"
"And I'd do it again if it meant getting her back. I'd fight for her again."
The realization dawns on Marquése and he takes a step forward.
"The war was about her. You bastard! You murdered all those people because of someone who didn't love you anymore. You destroyed my pack and slaughtered my father for nothing but your own selfishness!"
The king only stared at him not admitting to his heinous crimes.
"You're such a fucking idiot. That's your queen! She's the one beside you, not my mother! She loves my father! She doesn't love you!"
"Then why did she stay with me?"
Celestia gasps at the kings words, not believing that he just said that,
"Don't you dare insinuate that I stayed for you! You murdered my husband before me and you destroyed our pack then you told me that you killed my son! Then you went so far as to kidnap me and bring me here. I had no where else to go because of you so I had to stay, Because you made me and even when I did, I stayed as far away from you in this land as possible."
Everyone in the room was shocked at the revaluations that were now taking place.
The memories flash back into Marquése's head and his consciousness all but leaves the room.
He was on his knees on the dirty ground and the wails of war were the only things that could be heard on the raging battle field. Blood stained the grounds from the bodies of his people that lined it and the fire of the burning village roared.
This man standing before him was not one that he knew, but a face that he would remember to the very end of time.
"I warned you King, you should never have taken what was mine."
The man spoke to his father but his mother was the one that reacted first. She struggled in the arms of the guards that restrained her.
"Don't you do this Alderman! Please don't do this!"
The evil man paid her no mind, crouching down before his father instead, coming face to face with him.
"Any last words?"
At that statement her mother screams out but her father keeps calm. As calm as someone could be in this kind of situation.
"My last words are that she's not yours and she never will be."
In the blink of an eye his throat was slit from ear to ear and that's when all hell broke loose. The blood from his neck spewed violently and Celestia started yanking at the restraints, screaming from the depths of her soul for her lost love.
His father was gone and Marquése didn't know how to move or even speak. He didn't even know he was crying the entire time.
The man yanked his mother into his bloodstained hands and she screamed again.
Alderman called up two of his guards and handed his mother off to them.
"Kill her"
The guards dragged his mother off, carrying her behind some thick trees. The only thing he could see was her foot.
"Stop!" Marquése yelled out in desperation.
"Why are you doing this?!"
"Shut up! You shut your damn mouth boy!"
"Please don't take her away from me too."
"Marquése run!"
That was the last words that escaped his mother's lips before her screaming stopped completely and her foot went limp.
The last bit of innocent blood was spilled and it could never be returned. The pain and anger that Marquése felt at that time momentarily blinded him. Something monumental shifted within the depths of his soul and there in bloomed a deadly beast.
He broke through the restraints, yanking on the neck of the guard above him, breaking it. He saw the life drain from the man's limp body and immediately he felt sick.
"Kill him!"
The king shouted out and it was like it awoke Marquése from his shocked stupor. The little boy took off, running like a mad man into the woods. He ran and ran until he was out of breath, never stopping; it was only until he came upon a small river did he stop. He fell to his knees at the waters edge, crying out his immense pain and sorrow.
His tears fell into the water, being absorbed and becoming apart of the cold abyss.
He stared into the water, looking at the reflection of the moon and in that moment he made a promise to himself to get vengeance for his parents.
"You lied about killing her, you couldn't because you loved her but yet you destroyed her life. And now what? You're extending that same twisted love to your daughter?"
"That's none of your business!"
"It's every bit my business. I guess Luna really loves her Karma because she did something you could never imagine would happen."
"What the hell are you going on about?"
The Queen, Khal and Hailey stared at Marquése with a knowing look, while the King and Celestia hung on to his every spoken word.
"Your daughter is my mate and I want her out of that damn dungeon right fúcking now."
