Chapter 19 - A Blast From The Past (Dungeons Part 2)

"They say it's better to leave the past in the past, but sometimes the past is the medium that holds some of the biggest secrets. It gives forth life to the present, and in turn can give you some of the sweetest gifts you will ever live to receive."

Marquése holds onto his chest, willing the feelings and disturbing image before him to go away. He didn't need to see this right now, he had to focus on one thing and that was Kiara, not ghosts of the past.

"This isn't real." He whispered to himself, shutting his eyes tightly.

"Um, excuse me young man but I think it's very rude of you to just come into my home and start talking to yourself. Who are you?"

The middle aged woman stared at the peculiar stranger in confusion, watching him intensely.
She was so caught up on learning who he was that it took her a while to realize something.

He had no scent

"Wait, why can't I smell you? I demand to know who you are!"

Her demands were issued to unwilling ears, ears that didn't believe the tone of voice they were hearing.

He didn't know what to do with himself in this situation, but nonetheless Marquése raised his head to the small woman.
He called his wolf forward as he stared into her eyes and the hue of his own eyes changed to the daunting color of blood.

"I'm... I think I'm your son"

Celestia stood frozen in time and space for a while, her brain couldn't wrap itself around the image, around the words nor the realization of what this really meant.

She had long tried to forget the horrible memories of the past, and make peace with the fact that the only child she had was dead.

"Mom it's me, it's Marquése."

The shocked woman slowly walks up the man that claims to be her son.

Could this be just a cruel joke sent here by king Alderman to remind her of what she had lost?

Celestia raises her small hand slowly, placing it onto his face. As soon as the palm of her cold hand touches his warm face, the tears of the years of pain sprung to her brown eyes and her whole body crumbled.

Marquése reaches out his hand, catching her as she fell. He wraps his hands around her, holding her tightly against his body.

"My baby boy" his mother sobbed uncontrollably, finally accepting that her gift was returned to her.

He held her through it all.

It was only when she pulled away from him to look at him again, and she used her finger to wipe at his face, did he realize that he was crying too.

"I missed you so much."

"I missed you too my son."

The pair was now seated on stools in the small house, holding onto each other's hand because they feared that if they let go this would all disappear; proving not to be real.

"I don't know how you're back here and what brought you back to me but I'm so grateful for it. I missed you so much I couldn't believe you were gone."

More tears fall from her eyes and it breaks her son's heart a little.

"I missed you too, so much but I'm not gone anymore mom, I'm right here."

"What happened, how is this even possible that you're here?"

"I don't know, I should be asking you the same thing."

"I don't know either, I thought you were-"

"Dead?"

"Yes" her voice broke and Marquése held onto her hands tighter.

"I thought you were dead too. I thought he killed you."

"Alderman?"

"Yes that monster! All this time you were alive and I was living without you. He took father away from both of us then he took us away from each other. I'm going to kill him!"

"Marquése no! You can't do that. He killed your father for a reason and without remorse. I can't loose you too, I already thought I did so please don't go."

Marquése sighed holding onto his head in frustration,

"Mom, you can't ask me to just forget it all, all he has done-"

"Im not asking you to. Just please don't go do anything stupid right now."

He thought over his mother's words, then sighed reluctantly,

"As much as I hate him and want to kill him right now I won't, but I still have to go."

"What? Why?"

"Just come with me, I'll explain when we get there but I need you to show me where the dungeons are."

"What?"

Meanwhile Marquése and Celestia were on there way to the dungeons, Khal and Hailey were already there, trying to find a way to get Kiara out.

They crept up to the front of the dungeons, looking out for guards and at the same time trying to stay out of the view of the pack members.
If they were to pull this off without Marquése they needed as much help as they could get and that included the element of surprise.

"Ok, I don't see anyone there. It's now or never."

The mates creep into the dark, ominous room, trying to be as quiet as possible.

"I don't think that's a good idea, she really doesn't want to see you."

The voice comes as a shock to both of them and they scramble, trying to hide.

"I don't give a fúck what you think, I gave you an order."

"You're not my king-"

"Well what do we have here?"

Draco cuts off the guard's statement just now seeing the tow wolves. The pair stuck out like sore thumbs against the cells of the dungeons.

They had no where to hide

"You two are fools if you think you could break her out of here. You're crazier than I thought."

"And you're dumber than you look"

"Hmm sassing me won't get you anywhere maid."

"Don't you dare talk to her like that."

"Oh Princess! I have a little surprise for you, your little friends are here trying to rescue you"

It's the first time that Kiara knows that her friends were in the dungeons. The place was so big that she couldn't smell them until they were closer.

"Khal! Is that you!" Kiara screams from the depths of her expressing her inner turmoil.

"I'm here Kia! I will find a way to get you out of here!"

"Actually he just might be joining you in a cell!" Draco shouts, laughing his evil laugh and ordering the guards to detain them.
The guards came in, grabbing onto Khal and Hailey, tying them up.

"Let go of me!"

"Shut up. Bring them outside and wait for me."

The guards drag them away and out the door, kicking and screaming.
Draco took this as his opportunity to walk down to Kiara's cell to gloat.

"The only time you're getting out of this cell is when you agree to marry me."

"Screw you" Kiara practically spat, glaring her hatred at him.

"Oh don't worry princess, you will. Soon and very soon."

Draco walks out of the dungeons and Marquése arrives just in time to see his newfound friends in restraints.
He was far enough away that they didn't see him, and that he couldn't hear what they were saying.

"What the hell is happening?"

"It looks like Draco had Khal and Hailey locked up. It must be because they were trying to free the princess. Poor girl, I can't believe Alderman  is actually doing this to his own flesh and blood."

At the reminder of what his mate is going through. Marquése's anger rears it's ugly head and a low growl escapes him.

"He's sick"

More guards show up and enter the dungeons. Marquése's anger grows even more because he knows that now he has even a worst chance of breaking Kiara out of there.

An idea comes to him and Marquése shuts his eyes, calling Greyson forward.

"Kiara."

No answer

Well he knew that he couldn't get one so he decides to just speak again hoping that she could hear him.

"Kiara, if you can hear me know that I'm coming for you and I won't stop until I get you back baby.
And please forgive me for what I'm about to do."

Khal and Hailey get dragged off in a location unknown to Marquése and in a split second he makes the decision he knows that he can't take back after he does it.

"Mom, stay here. I have to do something."

"What? You're not going after them right, because you can't. Draco's most likely bringing them to Alderman and he's the last person you should be seeing right now."

"I know."

That was the last thing that the distraught mother heard before her only son ran off and into the direction of what she could only label as death.

Marquése's heart was beating so fast as he ran in the direction of where Khal and Hailey had traveled, trying to catch up.

The shouts of his name were long left behind him, as he traveled further and further away from his mother.

He knew what this looked like to her, like she had just gotten him back and now he was being stupid to run in the direction of a mad man. But he couldn't stop, because she didn't know the full story and he needed to do something to get them all back.

His journey led him to what from the outside looked like a big, empty room. He skidded to a stop in front it and took a deep breath in.

Marquése all but marches into the room, now discovering what seemed to be a throne room.

"Stop!"

He didn't know why he said that but it was the only thing that came to his mind to say. This was not a typical situation after all.

All eyes in the room turns to him and he froze in his spot momentarily.
The king and queen sat there on their thrones, and Marquése's eyes connects with hers for a moment.

"What are you doing here?"

This was Khal that spoke up in but Marquése didn't answer him. Instead he answered the person that's spoke up next.

"And who exactly might you be?"

"I'm the boy who's parents you took away from him."

The King's face showed confusion, showing that he didn't quite understand what Marquése was talking about.
He opened his mouth to say just that when another person joined the deadly party.

The King's eyes shine with realization as Celestia speaks to her son.

"Marquése please don't."

She was trying to stop her son from making the mistake of a life time.

"Well well, isn't this a surprising development."
