CLAUDIA

After a few kisses, Claudia became a shameless creature.

Her desires threw her off balance. As the temperature rose, the tension grew. Even though she wanted Dominic, she marveled at his distinctive features.

He could kill her if he lost control.

She stared into Dominic's eyes and saw him. There was no Mafia leader or a criminal. Dominic, passionate and tough, was all she saw. Claudia caressed his chest with her hand. Underneath his stern exterior was something darker and more corrupt. That didn't stop her from giving him her life and body. What they were about to do became more important.

His mouth tugged on her breast, and his tongue brushed along her nipple, distracting her.

What mattered was the pure, sensual feelings that consumed her entire being and penetrated her sex. She only needed to feel him and his love.

She rested her hands on his solid abs. Satin-smooth skin. Masculine brilliance. The huge muscle against her core vibrated between her legs.

Dominic was massive. He laid forth a plethora of reasons for everyone to bow down to him.

"I want you, Dia. Always have. Always will."

Dominic's heavy lips glided across her body. If he spoke pig Latin, she would find it seductive.

He touched her hip and urged her to get up and take what she wanted. She moaned again when he caught her nipple with his teeth, but she followed her instinct by thrusting her hips toward his girth.

The tension between her legs startled her. Dominic rocked back on his haunches and lifted her swiftly.

Sweet Jesus, Claudia felt his tip touch her clit in his lap. His pants were loose. She didn't do anything. That was entirely his doing. When he rocked her sex over his, she lost interest in whatever was going on with his clothing. Dominic's warm, hard lips grasped her neck.

"Dia, you're incredible. I can't imagine being with anyone else."

Claudia nodded, yanking his head back with her strength. She kissed him passionately, ignoring her lip pain. Her tongue slid between his lips as she whimpered.

He pushed her forward with both wrists in his palm in an instant. Claudia was on her back, and Dominic was over her in a split second. He gave her a glimpse, and she saw his eyes were a lighter brown.

Amazing.

Dominic kissed her from her chin to her belly button, coming closer to where she wanted him—needed him.

"Open your legs. Please." When Claudia complied with his request, his free hand crept up her leg and came to a stop just inches from her opening. "I bet you're ready for me."

She was. Her entire body shuddered beneath him because she was so worked up.

His lips lapped deeply between her legs as two long fingers entered her. The experience of being restrained and aroused simultaneously was agonizing.

Her climax came seconds later when her body spasmed against his mouth, bursting into a billion pieces. She cried out, finally letting go.

He rose, staring at her.

Dominic yanked his jeans off with one hand. He pinned her arms above her head again, sending sweet, mindless aftershocks. His long shaft pressed toward her entrance.

Her hands ached to touch him, but he wouldn't have that. He bit her plump nipple while crouching between her thighs.

She whispered, "Hold on," and Dominic looked up. His expression said, "Seriously?" She nearly laughed. "Can I ask you a question?"

"All right."

"When..." Clearing her throat, she tried again. "When was the last time you did this?"

He inhaled and looked at her. "Are you talking about going down on a woman? That answer is simple. It was you only a few seconds ago."

Claudia scowled. "That is not what I was referring to."

The rumble in his throat resonated through him to her, and he chuckled. "Okay. Since we're being honest, I had sex six weeks ago. I met her in a bar."

"Oh."

"You know, it just occurred to me that neither of us has ever discussed our sexual pasts, and I think we can agree that this is an important discussion." Dominic slid forward, cradling her upper body. "Am I right, Dia?"

She nodded. "I got my answer. That's all I need."

"How about you? When was the last time you had sex?"

She didn't have to think long before responding. "Longer than you. Five months."

Dominic shifted his weight and frowned. "Five months ago... That was around the time you were working at the news station." He gasped, staring into her eyes. "The man sexually assaulted you. Oh, God. Dia, are you telling me that the last person you were with was your attacker?"

Claudia shuddered and covered her face, tears stinging her eyelids. "It's not that big of a deal. I'm okay. Let's not talk about it."

Dominic had moved to the other side, and the bed rocked slightly. As he lay there, his breath touched her shoulder. "This is important, Claudia. What he did was disgusting. He should never have touched you."

"Well, they have him locked up, so he can't do it again."

"Which is perfect for him. Otherwise, I'd go after his ass."

Claudia rolled over and caressed Dominic's cheek. "Listen. I appreciate your patience with me. It means a lot. But I'm fine. I don't think about my past."

"I get that, baby. I just..." Dominic inhaled deeply and groaned. "I don't want you to feel like I'm rushing you."

"Dom, you're not rushing me. I'm always speeding things up between us. And, to be honest, it feels strange to want to be so close to you."

He shifted to one elbow, frowning. "Why?"

"Because of the way you handle women. You're a playboy, and what if I'm just another piece of ass for you?"

"Oh, Dia. No, I..." Dominic looked into her eyes, his fingers brushing her jawline. "I'll never just sleep with you. My last partner and I both agreed that there was nothing more between us than sex, but with you, Claudia, I want more."

"More?"

"Yes, baby, more." Dominic caressed her skin. "I knew you'd be wonderful when I read your resume. And that you would change my life, regardless of where we are now. I wanted you. That's why I told my father your name instead of anyone else's and made that foolish contract."

She looked into his eyes.

He swallowed and smiled. "You changed my mind about relationships after I proposed that phony engagement. I meant it when I said no one else was like you. You're smart, kind, and beautiful—the perfect partner. Even though I denied it, I wanted more with you."

"That's shocking, Dom. You once told me that you didn't want anything more with me."

Dominic groaned and sighed. "Dia, I truly apologize for ever saying that. I was stupid."

"It's okay. You don't have to say anything else," she told him, taking his hand in hers.

"You've been through a lot, and I destroyed your life."

"Shouldn't I decide that?"

Dominic looked at her and shook his head. "It isn't the point. You'd be happy if I hadn't brought you into this mess."

"Ha!" Claudia sneered. "Do you think I'd be happy without you? If so, think again. I've never been happier or more confident about my choices. Beretta Company was my best decision. I found you."

He sighed heavily and looked toward the window, silent. His lips curled into a small smile as he gazed back at her. "I guess we've both made choices that surprised us."

"We did. Your fake engagement scheme brought us together, but our feelings for each other grew. That's what I believe."

He caressed her cheek and licked his lips. "You're amazing, Claudia Grace Marcello."

"So are you, DAB," she replied.

"Uh..." As he shook his head, Dominic twisted toward her. "DAB?"

Claudia couldn't hold back her laughter. "Yes, silly. It's your name. Dominic Alessio Beretta."

"Mm. I've never had my initials displayed like that before." He smiled a little. "I kind of like it."

She cracked up while rubbing his left arm. "One letter is part of my alarm code in my apartment: 6-9-3-2. I haven't checked my place in days, but Kayla has been taking care of things for me."

His brow furrowed as he asked, "What does '69' mean?"

"It's June 9th, the day we met. Our combined initials are the digits 32. Like on a number pad. D and C. I changed my code when I moved out to avoid break-ins."

"That's ... clever."

"You think so?"

Dominic's grin widened as he settled between her legs. "I do, Claudia. It means you liked me before knowing me."

"Well, Mr. Beretta, I may have fallen for you, but you fell even harder for me."

Dominic murmured, "Mm..." and bit her lip. "You had me whipped from the moment you farted in my office."

"Ew, gross! Get off me," Claudia begged. "I can't believe you have a farting fetish."

"Hey," he murmured. "Everyone has fetishes. But farts aren't my thing."

"Then, why did you get a hard-on that day?"

"Because this attractive and sophisticated woman who applied for a job at my company dared to let one slip. Dia, I saw right through you behind my desk. I imagined..."

She scowled and said, "Whatever," which made him laugh.

"I have many fetishes, but the main one that keeps me interested in a woman is confidence. I'm attracted to women who eat more than salad."

"And fart." Claudia's back curled after he threw his head under the pillows, laughing. "What else attracts you?"

Lifting onto his elbows, Dominic met her gaze. "Would you like me to tell you or show you? Your call."

She swallowed. Hard. Claudia resisted laughing nervously before answering. "Show me."

Dominic clasped an ankle and stroked his palm down her side, tracing her hip and bone line to her feet, causing her to gasp. "I like women's ankles. The shin area drives me nuts."

"That's not so bad," she said as he delicately skimmed her heel. When he drew closer, his cock brushed her opening, and he never took his eyes off of her. "What else?"

"I think I've had enough teasing for a lifetime. You probably have, too."

Her lips turned into a tiny grin. "Maybe. You know what I've got a fetish for?"

"Mm. What is that, Dia?"

"I've got a fetish for you."

"You really shouldn't have said that." He bit his lower lip, staring into her eyes. "Should we pick up where we left off?"

"You mean... doing foreplay?" Claudia asked. Then she wanted to crawl under the bed and hide. "Don't respond to that. It was terrible."

"No, baby. I meant that."

As the sun sparkled through the top of the shade, Claudia squeaked out, "Okay," and peered into his eyes. "Do you have any protection?"

A devilish grin quirked his lips. "We are both clean sexually, but I came prepared."

Her brows perked after he said that. "How do you know I don't have any STDs?"

"Because Dr. Harris performed several tests after collecting our blood samples," Dominic explained. "He examines his patients thoroughly."

He tightened her hand.

"I see. The doctor is attentive."

"That's why I keep him on my staff. He is good at what he does."

She calmly explored his chest.

"I'm glad he did look into that for us. My enemies are ruthless," he said.

Her eyes stayed settled on his brow. "I understand."

"I know I've slept around, but I do practice safe sex." His free hand cupped her jaw and went from her breasts to her hip, rocking her. "I only need you, Dia. You're all I want."

"I feel the same, Dom."

He took her other hand. "God, you're so beautiful."

Claudia felt that when he touched her in this way. "I want to feel you."

"Not yet."

But he didn't let go of her wrists. Dominic quickly slipped on a condom with one hand and placed her hands over her head. Her breath paused, then accelerated as she felt him drive in inch after enjoyable inch. The first stretch ached.

He massaged her temple. "Fuck, you feel great. You'll be the death of me. You realize that?"

Claudia was sure he was the one doing the killing.

She embraced him, hips up. While arched, Dominic's groan muffled her pleasure.

His powerful presence stretched her until she curled her toes into the blankets in satisfying ecstasy.

"Oh, fuck! Dominic..."

He stopped her from holding his body. Dominic shook, tightening his grip on her wrists until they ached.

She gasped.

His eyes displayed richer caramel flecks and more defined features. And his skin was warmer. "Dom?"

Dominic shifted his head, revealing dominant muscle cords around his shoulders. "It's okay. I can handle myself."

He controlled his hunting impulses with his eyes closed. His lashes lifted. Though his face had softened, his eyes were brighter than usual. As his tip reached her core, he pulled away for a second and surged forward until they were barely inches apart. Each withdrawal and return ignited passion.

Dominic's thrilling tempo caused a thin sheen of sweat on his hairless, exposed chest. Claudia's fingers gripped the air as the rhythm climbed, nearing her second climax.

"You're so perfect." He kissed her again. She knew he had tamed the beast. "I love you, Dia. So much."

She nodded and wrapped her legs around his waist, moving him deeper. As Claudia hooked her ankles, Dominic groaned deep in his throat.

He kissed her lips and said, "Ignore that if you didn't hear me."

"Never, Dom." She beamed. "I'm in love with you, too."

He cracked a smile and dipped his head again, nipping a swollen nipple.

As she screamed his name, she felt him shudder around her and inside her, and then he joined her, collapsing over the edge. She knew their relationship would change forever after this.

Finally professing and making love, they were just getting started. What came after? Will they be together now? She didn't care about any of that anymore. She didn't expect to love or be with Dominic Beretta. Overall, he gave her life meaning.

Even after he pulled out, Claudia's heart raced, sending small sparks of satisfaction through her body. He released her hands, but she didn't move. She was jelly.

He gently lifted her chin and kissed her again, a deep kiss that felt like claiming her. Contrary to her expectations, Dominic grabbed her and cuddled her.

His heart was pounding as Claudia touched his skin, surprising her. She'd need to sort out the "sex and hunter" challenge and his mentality one day, but now wasn't the time for questions.

"That... was incredible," she whispered.

"I agree." He made a leisurely circle around her hip. "I've never had sex like that before. It was much better than I could have imagined, and I have a pretty active imagination."

Claudia shuddered. Questions filled her thoughts. What did this mean for them? Did sex have any importance? Did he feel she was his forever? They've talked about love since their scheme began, but sex can break people. She understood that. They fell in love after countless heartbreaks. She didn't want to give that up.

Claudia snuggled closer. "I've been wondering about something."

"No, I didn't swallow a Viagra pill, if that's what you were thinking."

"What? No. Not that."

He laughed silently while awaiting her reaction.

"Why would Lorenzo Guarini want you to marry Irene if he could arrange for her to marry anyone else?" she wondered. "I mean, I know Giovanni is married, but what about Alessandro?"

Dominic flipped over and faced her. "Many reasons make my brother not suitable. First, he is a bigger jerk than other men, and Lorenzo is aware of this. Second, Irene has always wanted me. That's what it boils down to."

Claudia dismissed her envy of Irene's obsession with Dominic.

"Is that why your father sent his guards to your house? To kill me for Irene?"

"Yes. My father is like most Mafia leaders. He'll do anything for power." Dominic squeezed her shoulder. "He always considered Irene his daughter. She and my sister were best friends until Sofia came out as a lesbian. Irene didn't mind because it meant more men for her. Since she liked attention, I refused what my father wanted. I could never love her as much as I love you."

Claudia trembled from his admission and his fingers sliding down her arm. His knuckles massaged her breasts, drawing her closer. Dominic's sex remained hard. A thick, proud length separated them.

She flushed at his knowing smirk. "What are your father and Lorenzo truly capable of?"

"Anything. Everything." He massaged her hip. "If they want something, they'll go to any length to get it. This includes kidnapping and murdering innocent people."

"Can't we stop them? Maybe call the police?" Claudia gasped when Dominic pulled her against him. "Would they hurt people just to show how powerful they are?"

He shrugged. "They could. My father destroyed everything he and I built because he went after us. He is dead to me." A pause. "Call the cops will not work because many authorities are on my father's payroll."

Dominic's finger slid slowly around her tailbone. "What about your brothers?" she asked.

"Are they coming for us?" Dominic's other arm, which she was lying on, wrapped around her. "I don't know if they're involved in any of this. But I'll find out if it's the last thing I do. I will hurt anyone who follows us. No one crosses me and waits to see what unfolds."

Her brows rose at that, and a tiny memory of Dominic fighting earlier flashed through her mind. Very serious. He might make everyone pay for messing with him.

"We need to get on the road soon," he said. "There is somewhere I need to go."

"Okay."

"But we don't have to leave yet."

Warmth flowed through her body. "Why not?"

Dominic effortlessly slid her over him and seated himself. "I want you. Now."

Claudia leaned back and placed her palms on his shoulders as he grabbed her hips. She looked at where they were united while he moved her up and eased her down, his length filling her core.

"I love you, Dia. I'm so fucking in love with you."

Then his gaze lifted to meet hers. It was just them, and it felt like the world had stopped. Because there was nothing else, Dominic consumed her.
