Chapter 14

With lots of persuasion, Natalia was allowed to go into the room where one of Metateon's Angels were. With even more persuasion and flirty eyes, the Leviathan was allowed to have her weapon back.

Her face lit up in a smirk as the weapon was back safely in her hands. She ran her fingers delicately across the cold blade, down to the leather handle. She held the sword close and sighed contently.

Meanwhile, Sam stared at her in disgust and Dean knew what it felt like, having a powerful blade in your grasp. He rubbed his arm absentmindedly.

Soon enough, the time had come to interrogate the Angel. The hunters and Leviathan went in and saw their target. Talia almost burst out laughing at the sight of him.

It was a wee little man, barely coming up to her shoulder. He had a smug look on his face, acting like it was an honor to be in his position.

"You're wasting your time. I have nothing to say," he said with a smile and goofy grin.

Dean circled the man, twisting his knife between his calloused hands. "We disagree."

The Angels scoffed and rolled his eyes. "There's no use in torturing me. I'm a trained commando. It won't work."

From the corner of the room, Natalia was in the corner leaning against the wall, gripping her blade. This man made her skin crawl with annoyance. She rolled her head and shook it, being in the presence of this idiot felt like a disease. "Let me kill this dude, he's getting on my nerves."

Sam gave her a disapproving look as Dean started talking. "Wow. Well, you just asked me to dance," Dean suddenly gripped the Angel's face and raised his Blade, ready to strike. Natalia leaned forward, a smile on her face.

"Dean! Dean!" Sam yelled, stopping his brother from killing the Angel. Natalia huffed and leaned against the wall one more. "Way to ruin the mood," she muttered.

Sam gestured Dean over. "He won't be telling us anything dead." The younger sibling scrunched his face up in confusion, as if he forgot about interrogating the spy and just was there for the joy of killing. They glanced at the Angel, and he stared back, clearly shaken up by the earlier event.

"Pussy," Natalia said with a roll of her eyes. Dean snorted and Sam gave her another warning look. She just shrugged her shoulders, twisting her blade in her hands.

"Besides," Sam said loudly, "you know, I'm -- I'm really starting to realize that he probably doesn't know anything."

"Obviously, you dipshit," Natalia remarked, not understanding the act Sam was playing.

"He was probably just pretending at the bar. Most likely he's a nobody. I mean, do the math. Ezra here is one of Metatron's Elite posse? Really?" The younger hunter laughed lightly. "One of Metatron's most trusted is, uh -- is hanging out at bars, blabbing about the boss. Does that make sense?"

"Well, only if Metatron is purposely surrounding himself with losers," Dean said, the same airy tone to his voice like Sam.

"Exactly! Right?"

Natalia was baffled by their behavior. What in the actual Hell are they doing? They're acting like complete idiots.
Might as well let this tragedy play itself. She kept her moth shout and watched what happened.

"What's this guy even doing here?"

"He's a wannabe. I mean, if be was a key player, he would be in Heaven with Metatron where all the action is."

"Exactly."

Ezra was clearly getting riled up. "What if I'm a decoy?" His face was still smug, as if he had leverage over them.

The Purgatory Woman faces the wall, banging her head against it. This guy is a joke.

Clearly, Natalia did not catch on to the Brother's plan.

They looked at Ezra with fake amusement. They were getting information out of him, just like they planned, minus the torture.

"Or in deep cover," Ezra continued.

Sam laughed like the Angel just told the funniest joke on the planet. Talia hit her head harder on the wall. This conversation made her cringe.

"Uh, i - it's pathetic," Sam shrugged his shoulders and stuffed his hands in his pockets, his face full of amusement.

Dean nodded his head. "Mm, probably hasn't even been to Heaven, not since the fall."

"Exactly!" Sam exclaims for the third damn time.

Ezra scoffs. "Yes, I have." His face begins to turn red with embarrassment.

"Buddy, the gates are sealed. No one can get in."

The amount of expression the two hunters are using greatly confuses the Leviathan, so she continues to bang her head against the wall.

"Who said anything about gates? You don't need gates when you have a private portal." Ezra pipes up.

At the word 'portal' Talia freezes. Her vision becomes blurry and the Purgatory forest surrounds her once again.

Acheron approaches her cell and crouched down. Natalia is laying on the ground, wounds across her body bleeding heavily. A chain is strapped around her neck with a rope attached to it. Acheron has made a leash. He grasps the end of it and yanks it. "Stand up, my pet."

The woman complies, the urge to defy him had died out. Her body no longer belongs to her, but to her leader. He had taken everything from her, and the will to live had burned out long ago. Her eyes are dull and sad, a vacant look now staying there. All the happiness and fight she once had had been stolen once Castiel left and the punishments began.

Acheron yanks the rope forward, causing Natalia to be dragged to the bars in front of her. The leader opens the cage and steps inside, and grabs her hair. He takes a fistful of it and yanks, ripping it out of her scalp. Black blood rushes down her head like a waterfall as Talia screams.

"Shut up, Lia!"

But she couldn't. The pain was excruciating, it caused her body to shut down even more, so she dropped to the floor once again. Acheron clicked his tongue and kicked her forcefully. Her body was limp like a rag dolls as it flew across to the other side of the cage.

"You know," he began. "There is a way out. There is a portal in Purgatory, but only humans can escape. If your Angel stayed with you a bit longer you all probably would of left and had a joyous life. Too bad they're gone, but luckily you get to stay with me."

Natalia whimpered as a few tears leaked out of her eyes, mixing in with the blood.

The memory was finally over, and Natalia quickly looked up, realizing she was still in the room with the hunters and Angel. The boys seemed to finish up their conversation with Ezra and left the room. Talia quickly joined and shut the door. Her breathing was heavy and her body shook, remembering what Acheron did to her.

Suddenly, Cas came into view. He crouched infront of Talia and held her face gently in his hands. The Woman leaned into him.

"Did you experience a memory?" he questioned. She just nodded and closed her eyes tightly, forcing the tears to go back into her eyes.

It was embarrassing to her for the Winchesters and Cas to see her so weak. She had to get over it. With a deep breath, Natalia stood up shakily and looked at all of them.

"I'm fine. Do you boys want to tell Cas what happened or should I?"

•••

Back in Cas' office, they explained what Ezra said. All was going fine until an Angel burst into the room, saying he was now dead.

"It's unbelievable. I mean, he was fine when we left him," Sam said as he was seated next to Dean, Talia sitting next to Cas on his desk as he leaned against it.

"I barely touched the guy," Dean piped in.

"Still cuffed, no weapon. It wasn't a suicide," Natalia added.

"No," Cas said roughly. "This was an Angel kill."

The brothers shared a look. "Okay well I'm gonna say it. Maybe your operation's been hacked. You know, Metatron' got somebody on the inside."

Dean had an interesting point, but Natalia wouldn't believe it, for Castiel's sake. She wouldn't. How could someone betray an Angel that gave her so much? Could they not see how amazing he was?

The Commander shook his head in disbelief. "I was sure everyone here was loyal. Finally united by a common cause." Talia took his hand in hers and gave it a reassuring squeeze. He glanced at her and she gave him a small smile.

"Well, that's the problem. See, you don't think anybody's lying. I think everybody's lying." Talia finally had enough of Dean.

"What the Hell is the matter with you," she demanded.

"What are you talking about."

She jumped off the desk and strode towards him. "Ever since I met you, there has been this strange, dark aurora around you. You're hiding something, and I want to know what."

Dean rolled his eyes and lifts up his sleeve. There, in broad daylight, was The Mark of Cain.

Talia's face paled and looked at him with disbelief. "Why do you have that," she said calmly.

"It's a long story."

This man was a danger, and Natalia was not comfortable having him around Cas. She backed off and sat on the desk again, but held her weapon on her lap, eyeing Dean warily.

"It's a gift," Dean spoke again, but now mentioning to what he said earlier. Cas looked down with disappointment as the younger Winchester patted his brother's leg and said, "Let's do some nosin' around."

As Dean left, Cas called Sam's name as he began to leave too. "You have a moment?" Sam glanced at the Leviathan, but didn't say anything to her.

"Yeah. What?"

"I wanted to ask you about Gadreel, the time he possessed you."

Talia opens her mouth in surprise. What the actual fuck? An Angel possessed him? What is wrong with these humans.

"It's not really something I like to --"

"Sam, please." Cas interrupted.

With a sigh, the Winchester looked at Talia again and then back to Cas. He was clearly uncomfortable with the topic and her presence just added to it. She would not back down though, the Woman needed to know what was going on and how she couple help Castiel.

"He didn't possess me completely -- more like we, uh... shared housing. I was still me."

"Did you ever sense a presence?"

He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't really know what I felt. I mean, maybe that I wasn't completely alone."

"Did you ever feel threatened?"

Sam surprised her by saying no, his eyes glossy and face sad. "More that he... wasn't at rest, l-like he had unfinished business. Now that we know more about him, I-I'd say he felt misunderstood."

The Angel and Leviathan processed the information that Sam said. Looking down, Cas responded, "But not -- not dangerous, not hostile."

The younger Winchester said no again.
After a moment of silence, he spoke again. "I was wrong, obviously. He killed Kevin." And with that, Sam left.

By the way they responded, Talia could tell this Kevin meant a lot to them. She also noted to watch out for this Gadreel, and make sure he hurts nobody.
