Chapter 49: Aizawa deserves an Oscar

"You will all have your Provisional Licensing exams soon."

Aizawa's announcement was met with shocked and confused looks. A very few looked happy. Bakugo and Shinso were among those few. The fact that the both of them had tried to sneak a cat into school had spread in the entire class and people had dubbed them the cat duo. Shinso ignored them, wisely. Bakugo had snapped at the first few but he soon grew tired of shouting and had resigned to condensing his irritation in death glares.

Apparently due to the recent events, more heroes were needed with the retirement of the Number 1 hero and the death of the Number 2 Hero. Hawks, the Number 3 hero had risen to the top spot. Reports say that he wasn't that happy with all this responsibility, but he was trying his best anyways.

They needed to subdue the villains, apparently, though Aizawa's words made it clear that he didn't entirely agree with them. Bakugo had zoned off somewhere in the middle, thinking over Izuku's words. Shinso stifled a yawn, trying to listen.

/I don't seek war with the heroes/

"And therefore you have to work on perfecting your Ultimate moves."

Bakugo snapped out upon hearing this. Aizawa's eyes were on him. He looked at his hand.

/Try channeling a small portion of your power throughout your body and gradually raise the percentage with your tolerance limit/

He remembered the conversation he had with Aizawa the other day. Shinso had been present too, because there was no hiding from him. Aizawa had verbally ripped off All Might before that, where he had cowed and asked for his forgiveness.

"Well, we can say that the villains used you as a test subject or something and that's how you got your Quirk. I mean, I don't remember that much of that time so you can actually pretend that it was an accidental manifestation. Or a malfunction of Izuku's Quirk, just saying."

Always putting the blame on Izuku wasn't sitting well with him, considering that's how he ended up in his situation anyways.

He pulled on his hero costume and silently followed Aizawa and the rest of his class to Ground Beta. It all depended on how well he acted.

He purposefully chose a high platform and pretended to rush towards it, while activating One For All on his right hand, the percentage fluctuating too much for his own good.

The rock smashed and debris fell down. Shinso, who had been expecting it, jumped out of the way, and glanced up in mock disbelief. Bakugo appeared to be looking disbelievingly at his own hands as well, one of which were broken.

Aizawa noticed it immediately and called from where he was standing.

"What was that, Bakugo?"

"....I don't know sensei, something happened as I was going to punch that rock, power rushed up my arms," he started with his best shocked expression, sounding pretty much like Percy Jackson explaining how it felt to channel his power, "And then incredible force was exerted and this rock broke."

"What?" Aizawa jumped up to inspect. Ectoplasm sent a clone to investigate as well, since his previous one had been crushed under the debris.

He started at the shattered rock in disbelief, and started shaking his head carefully.

"It...it almost looks like a Quirk....a self-destructive one, but a Quirk nonetheless. How—"

Aizawa could have won an Oscar with his acting.

In this shocked stuttering, most of the class had gathered to see what was going on. Shinso exhaled, seeing that most of them seemed to buy the story. But he wasn't so relieved when Kaminari later came beside him.

"I mean, it would be probably insensitive of me to ask, but did—"

"I don't remember," Shinso growled and cut him off. He looked back to where Bakugo was slowly climbing down and Recovery Girl had arrived, tsking at his injuries.

Izuku had peacefully hacked UA again between gathering information about Kai Chisaki and his Yakuza. And the little girl, Eri. As far as he could see, the girl didn't exist according to legal records and he wouldn't get much on her. Kai Chisaki had a messed up past, and when Twice went to bring in Chisaki, he had a concrete plan ready. Tomura had sighed and mumbled something about adopting strays or something along the lines of that. The possible involvement of Eraserhead was kept a secret from him to avoid trouble.

His mood swings were getting too wild for Izuku's comfort and he knew that he had to seek out actual help if he wanted to do anything about the League. That was another reason he wanted to ask Eraserhead. He had seen the man's eyes during the fight. He had been shocked enough to make major mistakes which led to his injuries. He whistled innocently and got up, closing the laptop. He had Kurogiri seek out Eraserhead in secret.

He would be keeping tabs on the man for the time being and he would only initiate contact after they had rescued Eri. As much as Izuku disliked the thought, Eri would be a necessary leverage against the heroes. He just hoped that they would understand.

(Well, if he had gotten even Kacchan to undergo such a drastic change, then he supposed he could hope).

He yawned once and fell asleep on the table. Shoto was already asleep, curled up on a bed.

One day at a time.
