Prologue
One week earlier. . .
"Why?" a young (animal type) cried. She looked heartbroken and terrified. "Why are we moving to a 'bustling, beautiful town'?"
"It's because," the (animal type)'s mother replied, "it's safer there. Yes, it is safe here. But that town is where the well-known hero, Sonic, lives. What if that awful scientist came for one or all of us and he couldn't help us?"
(Your name) sighed. Of course she doesn't understand. She still doesn't know that I have one of the highest IQs ever—and she wonders why I get perfect marks on everything in school, kind of, even though I do most work a few grades up! It's EASY.
It wasn't like (your name) believed herself to be super-smart and therefore better than everyone else. She just knew her intelligence was underestimated, and that she could take care of herself if some scientist came for her. What was he going to do, anyway? Avoid her not-so-plastic saws? Avoid her leather goggle straps and not get choked?
"I still think we shouldn't go," (your name) said. "You made me come over from Aunt Penny's house, interrupting my playing of Amazing Mustacheman Journey when I was on my favorite part, capturing the frogs at the beginning with Tophatter's amazing power! And I don't even want to go." The young (animal type) girl shook her head sadly. "Shame for me, I suppose. My save data didn't even become save data because I restarted right before Tophatter and Mustacheman were going to defeat that—that dumb boss!"
Secretly, the girl's mom had rolled her eyes. "Yes, yes, you love Amazing Mustacheman Journey very much, (your name)," she muttered. "But this is necessary. We move in eight weeks, six days. Just enough time for you to catch the bus home at the end of your last school day, have an hour or two to relax, then we're heading off."
Four days later, (your name) was lying in her bed, contemplating everything. She was back at her Aunt Penny's house, after getting back from school. With the sheets of math and science homework, the concept of moving, the stress of one of her friends moving away as well, she really just wanted to curl up in her bed and sleep for years.
But she couldn't.
Because her parents suddenly had to change the date of their move-away, and now she left in two more days.
"(Your name)! Dinner's ready!" Aunt Penny called.
(Your name) groaned quietly—not at the thought of dinner, her stress made her hungry and she loved her aunt's cooking—and got up, then headed downstairs. Once at the dinner table, she sat down at the chair she always sat at.
Her aunt walked into the dining room, carrying (your name)'s favorite dinner.
Maybe my life isn't so bad at all! Yay! she exclaimed happily to herself and when she could, she instantly dug into the beautiful food.
"Enjoying your dinner?" her aunt asked, amused.
"Enjoying it? It's the best! Thank you so much, Aunt Penny!" the coffee brown (animal type)'s niece replied happily.
This would be the last time Penny saw her niece so happy. Prior to her move, anyway.
Aunt Penny foresaw a bright future ahead for (your name). And she foresaw romance for her as well.
Romance with an adorable, loving and loveable, super-intelligent, twin-tailed fox by the name of Miles Prower.
Things weren't so happy at Sonic's place in the world. Or, more specifically, Miles' place—more, more spefically, in his workshop.
He was stressed. For a different reason, of course. But that reason was similar to a youngster that would move near him, go to the same school as him, and be just as smart as him.
The thing Miles was stressed about was that his town was becoming flooded with mobians from places so far away he knew little to nothing about them.
He, his adoptive older brother Sonic, and their friends, had all moved here because it was quiet. Of course, as Sonic gained popularity, their little town became huge and one of the most populated places where they lived, due to their address becoming leaked.
And he heard there was a family of (animal type)s coming here because of Sonic. Now, to Miles, this wouldn't be an issue... normally. As long as he knew the family moving there wasn't evil or just huge, huge fans of Sonic—which he heard they weren't—then he could carry on peacefully.
No. It was the mom who was a fangirl of Sonic. With this information, Miles knew that things would go sideways for him and his friends. Despite the other information he heard usually able to calm him down, which was that he also had heard the mother was happily married, and only wanted to move there so it was safer for herself, her husband, and her daughters, he knew women were willing to cheat on their lovers just to try to be with Sonic.
That sent a chill down his spine and through his twin tails in a hurry.
"I should stop thinking about this," Miles whispered to himself. He sighed then continued working on what seemed to be the fifth repair that week on his plane. "I'll just hope that nothing goes awful."
Two days later, and (your name) was at her new house. Because her old property was so big and rumored to have been rich with hidden-away, precious minerals and ores, it sold for a lot. (Your name) was never told how much, but she knew it was at least just a few thousand dollars under a million.
"You'll join school next Monday," her dad said, scaring her.
"Dad! You scared me!" she muttered beneath her breath. She then let her voice go back to normal. "Alright," she said. "Also, how's my report card?"
"Perfect marks as usual. You did much better in gym class this year," her father answered. No surprise in that, he observed in his mind.
Later that day—well, it was the next day, but it was around one in the morning so it didn't count—the (animal type) girl was imagining her school and classmates while simultaneously looking through horror videos on her favorite broadcasting website, MobiTube. Fit for mobians like me, she thought, reminding herself about the two different sites, MobiTube and HumaTube, fit for mobians and humans and their differences.
That was when she paused her video and sighed.
"I hope my classmates are like me, or just like me in general," she thought aloud. "I heard there's someone just as, if not smarter, than me. I hope to meet them."
Little did the little (animal type) know, she would meet the mobian very soon.
