"Selena!"

I woke instantly, the shrill voice coursing through my ears.

"Selena! Remember, we're going to go to the beach today!" my mom yelled.

Groggy from that weird dream I had,- now, what was it about?- I slumped down the creaking staircase. My mom was making french toast. When she finally noticed me, she just kissed my forehead.

"So, mom, why exactly are we going to the beach?" I asked.

"Well, darling, we were just going to hang out!" my mom exclaimed.

Okay, gosh! I sure wasn't expecting that to happen...

"Darling, we'll be going around 1:00 pm. Be sure to get ready, okay?"

"Okay, mom."

I walked upstairs and remembered something about me swimming in the ocean with a big, long, scaly, blue tail! I assumed it was from my dream and brushed it off. But, really? Me as a mermaid? That was my dream last night? I could now remember it clearly: my curly blond hair flowing through the water, a blue bikini top covered in tiny blue scales, and a scaly blue tail! I sighed and continued my walk up the stairs. It was 9:53 am, and I knew that the beach trip would be coming soon.
