Best Character Portrayals

So LKellam (I think) tagged me a little while ago to say what I think the 5 best character portrayals are in any movie or TV show. It could be any genre, any kind of character, any actor. So, here goes...

#5: Literally every character in Underverse, but especially Cross.

Okay, I know this one probably shouldn't really count, but I just had to include it. For those of you who don't know (which is probably a lot of you), Underverse is a fan-made animation series on YouTube based on the video game Undertale. It's basically a crossover between a bunch of other fan-made alternate universes, which might sound super cheesy, but it's actually very awesome. Every single character is given such a distinct personality and is likable in some way, which seems like it would actually be difficult to do in this case since over half of the characters are just alternate versions of the same guy. The special shoutout goes to the villain, who's well rounded personality mixed with how utterly terrifying they can be (despite only being either a skeleton or a small child... it's complicated) makes them a better villain than at least half of the villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe combined. Underverse is a very good introduction to the whole Undertale AU network, so if you want to learn more about that, then you should watch it. If you want to watch it, here's the first episode:

Oh but before you do that, you should probably read these equally awesome comics that explain Underverse's backstory:

aaaaaaaaaand the other one disappeared. It's just gone. Wiped off the face of the earth. So, in short summary, two of the most well known Undertale AU original characters, Ink!Sans and Error!Sans, are always fighting each other, but then they reached a truce where Ink would not help create AUs and Error would not destroy any. However, Ink met someone who had the ability to help him get around this truce and start a little "game" which resulted in the creation of the AU that the above comic takes place in. (Jakei, if you see this, which I doubt... where did The Truce go??? And I don't mean the actual truce, I know where that went, I mean the comic! Did you do that on purpose? Why am I doing this, she's never even going to see this.)

Oh, and I should probably say, do not watch these if you have not played or seen a playthrough of Undertale (#thewarningscomeaftertheinstructions but come on. duh).

#4: Peter Parker/Spider-Man--Spiderman: Homecoming (I spelled it two different ways because I never know which one is right XD)

By far the best spiderman. By faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar. Toby MaGuire was a good Peter Parker, Andrew Garfield was good in costume, but Tom Holland absolutely nailed both sides, bringing to life the irresponsible, irrational, but unstoppably determined young web-slinger that comic fans have known so well for so long. All of the previous movies have tried to capture the high school side of Peter's life, but I don't think any of them have really emphasized it enough or done it right before this one. Tom Holland's performance is one of the many things that makes this movie one of my favorite Marvel movies to date.

#3: Samwise Gamgee--Lord of the Rings trilogy

"I ain't been dropping no eaves sir, honest!" "Thank you, m'lady. You got any more of those... nice, shiny daggers?" "Of course you are! And I'm coming with you!!" "That one's for Frodo! That one's for the Shire! And that one's for my Old Gaffer!!!" "We're going that way, straight as we can." "I can't carry it for you... but I can carry you!"

How could I not include something from Lord of the Rings on this list? For best portrayal, there was no question that it would be Sean Astin as Sam (I swear, that guy can play literally anything). First of all, he's probably the most book accurate of the four main hobbits. Astin beautifully portrays Sam's undying loyalty to Frodo, because as we all know, Frodo wouldn't have gone very far without Sam.

#2: Agent Leopold Fitz/The Doctor--Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

What can I say? Fitz is just the best! Iain DeCaestecker has done an amazing job with portraying such a complex character throughout all five of the show's seasons. The coolest part of it, though, was the portion where his character became a villain (through means that are very convoluted and spoiler-filled, just go watch the show). DeCaestecker had to completely change Fitz's personality while still somehow keeping the character the same at his core, and he nailed it. He was one of my favorite villains from the show, and Fitz I think is my favorite MCU original character (not from the Marvel comics). If you like Marvel movies and have not watched Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., what are you doing reading this dumb tag?? Go watch it!

#1: Eleven--Stranger Things

How. How? How how how how how does Millie Bobby Brown do so good at playing a character that only says like three words in one season??? She turned a character who was only going to have a smaller role in only one season into a fan- and director-favorite superhero! Showing so much emotion while saying hardly anything couldn't have been easy, but Millie makes it seem like it was. I cannot wait for them to grow her vocabulary, hair, and personality even more in season 3.

There were others that I thought about putting on the list, but that I didn't put for various reasons (such as not putting super obvious ones because I want to try to be unique), so here are some honorable mentions:

Thanos--Avengers: Infinity War

Tony Stark/Iron Man--You know who he is

The Joker--The Dark Knight

Dustin--Stranger Things

Pippin--Lord of the Rings

Eames--Inception

Papyrus--YuB plays Undertale (this is a joke but I do really like YuB's old Papyrus voice and if you don't know who he is he's a youtuber go watch him it will make your day)

Um... so, who do I tag now? Lynn tagged literally everyone in the League of Crazy Spammers, which basically means everybody I know on Wattpad. Oh, wait! MaxTheChristian wasn't part of the League when she tagged me in this! Max! You must do this tag now! And I guess I will also tag BirdyOnAPerch because they are the only one that I'm following who's not in the League.

Wow, that took way longer than I anticipated. I am so indecisive when it comes to these things.
