Totally Didn't Make A Coraline AU

Okay, I might have made a Coraline AU...

If you've never seen the movie Coraline, just know it's know for being the creepiest kids movie ever made. I recently just watched it (Like a couple minutes ago), and I might have made an Atlantis AU based off of it.

Annnd I really wanted to write some of it so here's a character guide before I just start writing.

Coraline: Cody

Mom/Other Mother: KrakenKid

Dad/Other Father: Selena (Note, in the AU, they're just all friends and not related)

Cat: Sam

Wybee: Tanith

Ghost Children: Blooper

Circus Guy: Joe

The Two Bickering Sisters: CannibalCrab and Professor Pikalus.

That's all gonna sound really weird, but bare with me. It's going to have a lot of differences but also similarities as well! Here we go!

Third Person

Pulling into the driveway of the very large and pink mansion, Cody sighed to himself, staring at it with dread in his heart. "We're here!" KrakenKid announced, huffing to himself. "This is the place."

Cody looked it up and down with little interest. "We're staying here? What even is this place again?" He asked the kraken, who paused.

It was Selena who answered for him. "Well, there are several people who live in different parts of the house. Someone has the attic, the basement and we," She grinned. "Get the biggest part because we need the most room." She turned to Cody, but when she noticed he still didn't look interested, she nudged him. "Hey, come on, it'll be great. Sure, we've had better but we've had worse too." She hesitated before saying. "I know it's not the same as our last house but-"

"It's not the house I miss, it's the people." He answered before she could make assumptions.

"This place has people." KrakenKid pointed out. "I think most of them are weirdos but they're still people. Cheer up, we'll have a great time here."

Cody waited before sighing. "Maybe... I guess I can give it a shot."

A couple hours into being there, Cody was sure finding it hard to like the house. The bath was littered with bugs, windows were leaky and he accidentally found a button that turns off the power, much to everyone else's dismay.

If that wasn't bad enough, though they had unpacked what they needed, KrakenKid and Selena instantly became busy. Cody wanted someone to talk to, but with KrakenKid trying to finalize the details with the house repairs and payment and such, he kept pushing him away to focus. Selena was trying to account for all the boxes and everything they had, and between the three of them, there was a LOT of boxes.

"Kraaaaaaken... Hey Kranky! Kranky!" Cody poked KrakenKid until he finally built up enough frustration to whip around.

"What? Cody, I'm busy! I already told you, go explore the house or bother Selena!" He huffed, turning back to writing something down.

"Already did both." Cody answered.

"You did all of that within half an hour? Never mind..." KrakenKid asked at first, but quickly took it back. "Go meet the neighbors or something, I'm busy."

Cody stayed for a moment longer, hoping he would change his mind, but when he didn't, Cody decided he'd just go along with it. No use bothering him any more or he'd probably strangle him.

The penguin left the house, letting his mind wander as he did. The three of them had been living together for quite some time, mainly because it was just cheaper for all of them to split the payment of the house three ways and they could stand each other. Normally at least. They had moved houses quite a bit, but last year they got settled in a little town that Cody got very attached to. It only made it worse when they had to leave. Now, he couldn't help but compare what he had there to what he has here, and it wasn't going well.

Cody sighed again before looking around. On the side of the house, there were a set of stairs leading up. Knowing someone was living in the attic, he decided maybe he should visit them. What was the harm after all?

The stairs creaked slightly as he climbed them up to the top before finding a door and a mailbox there. The name "Buz" was written on the side of the mailbox in big letters. Cody shrugged to himself before knocking on the door. When no one answered, he tried again, harder this time, but as he pounded on it, the door swung open under his force. He blinked before peering in.

He couldn't see much, just cannons, what looked like a broken circus tent and what sounded like a faint peeping sound. He almost walked right in before someone cleared their throat behind him. Cody whipped around and found a very tall chicken looming over him.

His blue eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Are you trying to spy on my next act?"

Cody stared at him, cocking an eyebrow. "...I'm sorry, your what?"

"My act!" The chicken exclaimed, switching places with Cody so he could close the door. "My top secret circus act! You were trying to get a hint about what's going to be in it, weren't you? Well I'll tell you what, you're not getting squat!" He gestured to himself. "I'm a very private man and I'll have you know that this act is going to be spectacular, and you're not going to see it until it's finished!" He crossed his arms firmly.

Cody stared at him for a long time. "I... Uh, sure... I'm sure it'll be great."

"Buz" gasped. "Flattery! You are a smart one, aren't you? What's your name?"

Cody was pretty sure this guy was crazy but that wasn't any reason to be rude to the guy, so he held out his hand. "Cody, one of your new neighbors. You're Buz or something?" He guessed.

"Joe Buz, at your service!" He bowed lowly before perking up. "Well, Cody, I'd love to stay and chat but I've got work to do. When I finish my act, I assure you," He winked. "You'll be the first to know. Farewell!"

Joe slipped behind his door, leaving Cody to stare at the door for a long while. "...That was... Interesting." He mumbled to himself before heading back down the stairs.

As he strolled along the outside of the house, he noticed a stairwell leading down and couldn't help but follow it. At the bottom was not only a door, but a neon sign above it saying "Welcome" in bright orange and green letters. Cody knocked a little before he heard some sort of strange clicking sound.

He glanced down and nearly jumped at the group of small crabs gathering by the door. It wasn't long before he heard shouting.

"Crabby! Go get the door!"

"I'm trying to work on my knife throwing, you get it!"

"I'm working with dangerous chemicals, I take priority! You first!"

"You never get the door!"

"Do you want the house to blow up?"

"Always with the excuses!"

The voices shouted back and forth before it stopped and Cody heard shuffling before the door swung open, revealing a much larger crab. His eyes scanned him up and down before saying anything. "Who are you?"

"Cody, your new neighbor. One of them at least." Cody added and held out his hand. The crab took it as gently as he could and shook it before smiling.

"I'm called CannibalCrab. Come right in." He offered standing back and clicking at the smaller crabs to do the same.

Cody shuffled in the room before the door was shut behind him. There was a long living room in front of him, having a couch and a couple of armchairs, as well as three doors, two by the right and one to the left. One of them that was open had a faint trail of smoke coming out of it.

Cannibal led him to the couch and gestured to sit down, to which Cody obeyed. Then he turned around and cupped his claws around his mouth. "HEY! PIKALUS! GET OUT HERE AND GREET THE VISITOR!"

"I'M BUSY! CHEMICALS!" A different and accented voice screamed back.

"WELL FINISH QUICKLY THEN!" Cannibal yelled before turning back and grinning at Cody. "So, need a snack?"

Cody quickly shook his head, making Cannibal shrug before sitting down in one of the two armchairs across from him. "So, Cody, tell me about-"

"There!" A new human man entered the room, having black and frizzy hair as well as a lab coat and safety goggles on. "I finished. Are you happy?"

Cannibal's eyes narrowed. "Don't have to be rude about it."

"I'm doing my best, it's never easy with you." He retorted, taking off his goggles and sparing a glance at Cody. "I'm Professor Pikalus. I'm guessing you're the new neighbor coming in?"

"One of them. There are two others." Cody corrected before extending a hand. "I'm Cody."

They shook hands before Pikalus turned back to the crab. "Also," he slipped his hand into his jacket and pulled out a dead crab, so casually like it was something normal. Cannibal wasn't fazed but Cody gaped as he spoke. "Found another one of your pets."

Cody thought he would have been disappointed but instead, the crab's eyes lit up. "Dinner is going to be delicious tonight! Look at how big he is!" He said in awe, making Cody stare even more.

"You're... Going to eat him? Your own kind?"

Both of them laughed. "His name is CannibalCrab after all."

Cody stared at both of them before getting up. "I have to go."

They both turned to him, Cannibal blinking in surprise. "Don't want to stay for dinner?"

"No!" Cody said a little too quickly, then corrected himself. "Selena's making dinner and she'll be disappointed if I don't eat it. She tries her best." He answered, making his way over to the door. "Anyways, this was great and all and we should totally do it again another time! I'll see you around!" He yanked open the door and left as quickly as possible.

A couple steps out, he shuttered. "Cannibal... That's just wrong." He mumbled to himself, but decided to let it go. They were nice people and he did want to see them again, just he didn't want to see a crab eating another crab.

Instead, Cody found himself going into the woods to relax, sticking to the path. The trees were bare but still, he found it nice to be among nature again instead of all those crazy people.

As time went on, the path soon lead to a clearing in the middle of the forest. Cody strolled around it when he took one step and noticed a strange hollow sounding echo coming from what he just stood on. He stomped on it, making it have the same sound but louder now. He was going to do it again when a voice stopped him.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you! You might fall in!"

Cody glanced back, now seeing a snake-human looking hybrid girl, watching through her blue eyes. On her shoulder, a black cat with aqua eyes watched him carefully.

Cody paused. "...How long have you been standing there?"

"As long as you have been standing where you are." She answered.

Cody's eyes narrowed. "Were you stalking me?"

"No!" She protested. The cat meowed lowly, making her shift her eyes to the cat before looking down guiltily. "...Maybe?"

Cody groaned. "Okay, what is with you people and all of you being crazy? We have slightly paranoid circus guy, a literal cannibal and the guy that lives with him and is completely okay with it, and now stalker snake girl."

The hybrid instantly looked offended. "Hey! I'm not crazy! And you should really get off of that spot or you might fall in, seriously!"

Cody glanced down, only now noticing the ground beneath him as sinking slightly. He stepped off to the side, making it stop. "You're probably a little crazy." He pointed out before staring at where he was standing. "And what's there?"

"It's an old well." She answered, slithering over and brushing off the dirt, revealing a wooden circle in the ground. "It goes pretty deep so I wouldn't mess with it." Her eyes flickered to him. "You're one of the new one's right?"

Cody sighed. So many introductions today. "Yep, I'm Cody. And you are?"

"Tanith!" She smiled, then pointed to the cat. "This is Sam. She lives around here." Sam nodded her head in Cody's direction.

His eyebrows raised. "She's not your cat?"

Her head quickly shook. "No, no, no. She's her own independent cat. I just feed her, let her into my room and sometimes talk with her." Cody gave an even more skeptical look. "Talking to your pets is a perfectly normal thing to do!"

Cody's eyes narrowed. "Suuure it is." He said, getting back on the trail for home.

Tanith caught up to him and strolled besides him. "So, where are you from? Who else moved in? You liking the place so far? My grandma owns the place you know!"

Cody huffed. "I'm from Atlanta, I live with my two friends, KrakenKid and Selena and I'm still getting used to it."

Tanith nodded as Sam jumped down and strolled besides them. "I get that! You like your friends? Oh who am I kidding, of course you do! You live with them! Hey, ever thought about doing nicknames? Saying KrakenKid every time you talk to him sounds like a mouthful. What about KK? Or-"

"I call him Kraken or Kranky." Cody said before she could say anymore.

"Why is that? I get the Kraken nickname part but what about the other one? Does he have a temper?" Tanith spoke so quickly, Cody barely heard what she was saying.

As they approached the house, Cody thought it over. "It's an inside joke. He doesn't exactly have a temper, he just gets worked up."

"Inside joke?" She perked up. "What's the story behind it? I have plenty of time!"

Cody spared a glance at her. "You ask a lot of questions."

Tanith smiled in response. "I'm very curious."

Cody nodded slowly. "Yeah, I noticed... I'm going to head inside but it was nice meeting you."

Tanith waved and as Cody opened the door, she called out to him. "Have we met before?"

Cody paused and looked back. "No. Why?"

Her eyes looked him up and down, squinting. "You just kind of look familiar... Maybe it's just me." She shrugged before leaving. Sam stared at Cody before following her.

Cody hummed as he began to put up snow globes on the fire place, all of which from various places they lived. The living room was slowly but surely coming together, and while it wasn't terrible, it wasn't exactly a dream come true either.

He moved boxes left and right, but when moving a couple that were up against the wall, an small door shaped intent caught his interest.

His hand trailed over the key hole like indent before heading for the kitchen, where he knew KrakenKid would be.

The yellow eyes glanced up upon him entering before quickly scribbling something and dropping the pencil. "Oh hey, looks like I won't have to get up to find you after all. Someone dropped off something for you." His head nodded towards the kitchen counter where a package laid.

Cody might've immediately asked about the door but at the mention of the gift, Cody had to check that first. He strolled right over and ripped off the packaging, then paused.

"What is it?" KrakenKid asked casually.

Cody barely found the words to say it. "It's... A doll." He turned around, showing it off to KrakenKid. "That looks just like me."

It was true, right down to the colors and hairs on his head, it looked exactly like a mini him. Only thing different was the black button eyes.

"I'm a little old for dolls but..." Cody let out a short laugh. "You gotta admit, it's pretty cool."

KrakenKid nodded absently. "I guess man. I've never been much of a doll person. They always freaked me out."

"What about that squid one you love so much?" Cody pointed out.

KrakenKid stopped, dropping his pencil and turning his full attention to him. "Okay, first off, Mr. Squiggles is a stuffed animal, and two, he didn't remind me of a voodoo doll. I say get rid of it."

Cody's eyes narrowed, grip tightening around the doll. Now, spite was controlling his actions. "Nope, I'm keeping it. You're just jealous you don't get one."

KrakenKid shook his head before returning to work. "Whatever you say."

Cody paused for a while, losing his train of thought before the door came back to him. "Also, have you seen that door like thing in the wall?" KrakenKid nodded. "I think it needs a key. We got any of those?"

"Probably." KrakenKid answered without looking up.

Cody sighed. "You mind being more specific and helping me find it?"

"Kinda busy here."

"Come on man!" Cody groaned. "Just help me with this one thing and I'll stop bothering you! Honest!"

KrakenKid's whole body froze before shooting up, looking right at him. "Promise?" Cody nodded firmly, making him get up and start going through the doors.

KrakenKid mumbled to himself before finding one with at least twenty different keys. He picked out a black key with a button as the top of it and marched into the living room, Cody following behind.

Using the key, KrakenKid ripped up the wall paper around the door and stuck the key in, turning it. It opened right up, but on the other side was just a brick wall.

Cody frowned while KrakenKid huffed. "Well that was anti climatic but a deal is a deal." The kraken said, standing up. "No more bothering me."

KrakenKid left him and Cody patted down the brick wall, checking to see if it was hallow or fake, but it was as real as he was. He sighed and slumped down. "Great. There goes my only source of entertainment..." His eyes trailed down to the doll that he still held in his hand. "Least I got you, huh, Little Cody?"

He made the doll nod yes before pausing. "Welp, I'm officially lonely." He muttered to himself. "I need friends."

"You realize I'm right in the other room, right?" KrakenKid yelled.

"Correction: I need better friends." Cody smirked.

"HEY! Screw you!"

That's it, I'm splitting this into more parts because DANG THAT TOOK LONG.

I had a lot more fun with this AU than I thought I would? I'm definitely going to continue it if y'all are interested.

Anyways, I hope you liked this new AU! Be sure to comment what you think and goodbye!
