Poseidon's Influence (Short Story+Drawings!)

(When you're trying to write a title but you're in a group chat with your friends arguing about colors...)

Anyways, I might have made a thing. Originally it was just going to be a comic and stuff, buuuut I wanted to just write down context because... I like writing. Such a shocker, right?

Anyways, here we go.

Third Person
Selena hesitantly walked through the ruins of what once was a great castle, following the brothers as they moved.

The castle was filled with blue stone, mostly forming the broken walls around them, but also was all over the ground, now more ruble than stone. The castle was large and navigating it was difficult, but the brothers were so determined that it didn't matter. They just kept going.

At the head of the small group was Cody and Joe. They barely said a word to anyone but each other, and kept their eyes ahead, never looking back. Selena might have asked them if they actually knew where they were going, but with their fists clenched tightly and sparks coming off of them, she decided maybe it was best to just trust them.

KrakenKid and Professor Pikalus were behind them. Despite their differences and their hatred for each other, they actually were getting along pretty well. Though they were silent now, earlier, they were talking about what was going on and exchanging experiences. KrakenKid was taking deep breaths, tentacles curling into fists. Professor noticed and put a hand on his shoulder. They locked eyes and had a silent conversation before KrakenKid relaxed again.

Selena was behind them, totally unsure about the whole thing and seemed to be the only one on the mission who lacked passion.

Finally, Rasmus and Cerebia were behind them. Cerebia kept her eyes down and shuffled around while Rasmus stuck by her side. He whispered things in her ear. Selena subtly eavesdropped in, and heard that he was murmuring reassuring words to her. Cerebia would only react to this by picking up her pace, gaining confidence, but never lifted her face. Her long hair covered her face, making it impossible for Selena to see what she looked like.

Glancing back to the front, Cody and Joe began to slow down upon seeing the room at the end of the hall. Everyone else did the same until they stopped all together.

"He's there." Cody said after a long silence. "He's in there, I know he is. I can feel it."

Joe's eyes turned to a hateful glare and focused on the door. Selena had never seen him so angry in her life, and it terrified her. "Let's get this over then." He said, and they marched ahead together.

Selena swam right up to their sides as they forced open the door and stepped into the room.

The room had a lot of broken furniture all over, ranging from tables, what looked like a couch and a lantern. At the end of the room we're two things: A wide window with colorful glass, a little cracked, and a tall man.

The man heard them come in but didn't do much as move an inch. He was old and pretty frail. His once glorious robes were now tattered, and his beard was untamed. His eyes were wrinkled, and when he finally turned to face them, they could see that he had seen so much violence and sorrow in his life, and that even now it haunted his sea green eyes.

Selena felt sympathy, but she was the only one who did.

"Poseidon!" Cody growled, sparks flying off of him. "You're going to pay for what you've done!" Poseidon didn't move at all, other than his sad eyes focusing on the floor now.

He took a step forward but Selena couldn't take it anymore. "No!" She quickly forced herself ahead and turned around, standing in between her group and the old king. "I can't let you do this!"

Joe stepped besides his brother, eyes narrowed. "Selena," Joe's voice was oddly soft, but still held the rage. "Step away from him and let us do this."

"But look at him!" Selena gestured towards the unmoving old man. "He's helpless! He's old, he can't do a thing! He's not hurting anyone now, just leave him be!"

"Selena-" Cody tried to say but she stopped him.

"I know what he did but is it really worth killing him?"

The room was silent as Cody took in deep breaths. "You don't understand..." His voice was careful and strained.

Cody looked away, unable to say it and look in her eyes at the same time. "Not everyone got off scott free, Selena."

She tried to search his eyes but she couldn't.

Professor Pikalus was next to speak, looking up. Though he looked her in the eyes, the light reflected off his glasses making his expression unreadable. "He was brilliant." His voice sounded like it was about to break, and betrayal danced in his face.

KrakenKid was next, pushing past him and baring his teeth. His whole body trembled, unable to stand the hatred he was feeling just by looking at Poseidon. "And we trusted him!" He screamed, voice cracking in the air.

Cerebia took a half step forward, looking just as frail as Poseidon was. When she spoke, her words were so soft and sad. Her eyes were covered and her expression was difficult to read. "But he lied to us. Twisted,"

Rasmus took over, still holding her to make sure she didn't fall, but had betrayal all over his face. He barely could even look in Poseidon's direction, and when he did, pain covered his face. "And tortured us, used us,"

Joe finally couldn't hold back and took over. He couldn't contain what he was feeling, causing his already blue eyes to glow and the energy of the Nexus to flow from him. "Manipulated us for his own evil purposes, and for what? For THIS? This... SHADOW?" Joe screeched the words until his voice ached for him to stop. He finally did, but shook from rage and kept trying to calm down.

Selena found herself stunned and unable to move. She wasn't sure what to do: Let them kill him or save his life. Both were convincing but Selena's heart and mind switched constantly, making her freeze in place.

Cody took another step and finally looked in her eyes. His gaze flickered to the man behind her for a moment and he clenched his jaw.

"He needs to pay." He whispered.

***********************
Okay, the drawings weren't my best and they were pretty experimental but hopefully it wasn't too bad!

Explanation time! These quotes are from Red Vs Blue and they're pretty much one of my favorite quotes from there. I really wanted to do this, so I did!

I saw Cody as the one who kinda leads the whole thing, who explained to Selena that he damaged them pretty badly.

Professor Pikalus respected Poseidon for his intellect but now seeing the effects of everything he's done, he feels betrayed.

When KrakenKid says "We trusted him" he's not just talking about everyone there, but all the krakens. The krakens trusted their king, and he killed them all. (Also, I made his teeth pointed and it came out a little weird so whoops)

Cerebia is so burdened by Poseidon's actions that she feels lied to. That he lied about who he was, about the man she fell in love with. She feels like he's twisted everyone there and blames him for many of their issues. (I kept her imagine more vague for a reason and I covered her eyes to symbolize how she's also like a shadow)

Rasmus feels like Poseidon was just using them to get what he wants, and is the most betrayed of them all. (I drew him from memory and HOW DO YOU DRAW HIM ITS IMPOSSIBLE)

Joe is just angry. It's not so much about himself, but how he did it to everyone else. Because in his eyes, you can play him all you want, but mess with family and it gets personal. Not to mention after everything he did to be great, after all the lives he's ruined, he's now just a shadow, so it was all for nothing.

And that's what I've got for today! I hope this was pretty good! Be sure to comment what you think, comments, questions and stuff, and goodbye!
