IKEA, The Bane Of Their Existance
Okay, I found this one ship writing prompt and I had to do it.
"Imagine your Ship getting really confused trying to build IKEA furniture."
Just some background, IKEA is known for having furniture that you have to build yourself once you buy it, and everyone gets confused.
I'm going to try and do a bunch of ships.
HERE WE GO!
(All of this is going to be Third Person by the way)
Cody heaved the boxes into the middle of his room one by one, grunting slightly as he did. Sam watched from the couch, a book in her hands as she silently raised an eyebrow. "You need any help?" She offered.
"No, no... I got this!" Cody insisted through gritted teeth, carrying to at once. His arms trembled as if they threatened to break. Sam decided if he didn't want help, there was no use arguing and went back to reading.
Eventually, he got the last of them in and dropped it in the pile. "Woo!" He grinned, shooting his arms in the air in victory. "Done!"
Sam snickered and clapped slowly. "Truly you have saved Atlantis."
Cody's eyes rolled playfully. "They were heavy, okay? I like to enjoy the small victories." He told her sharply before digging into the smaller boxes.
Sam let him do this thing before her eyes drifted to the logo on the box she had never seen before. "Hey." She said, getting his attention. "Where's this all from?"
"New place!" He explained, shifting the other boxes to show the same logo. "It's called IKEA. Lots of cool stuff! I got this weird bird clock and a couple lamps, plus a new couch! Supposed to be really comfy!"
Cody pushed the box he was opening away and moved to the biggest of them all, cutting it open. He was grinning when he opened it, but blinked once he saw the containments.
Sam noticed his puzzled look. "What? Order mix up?" She asked, strolling over to his side.
The king shook his head quickly. "No... I think I have to build it myself." He answered, holding up pieces of wood and a bag of screws. Though he took time to processes it, he shrugged in the end. "How hard can it be?"
The mermaid scanned the box before spotting some folded up stacks of paper in the corner. She smiled to herself, plucking it out from the mix. "Especially with instructions." Sam added.
But Cody took a glance at them before shaking his head. "Nope, no instructions." He turned his head away confidently and focused on the wood. "I'm going to do this myself. How hard can it be?"
The answer was very hard as Cody had no idea what he was doing. He tried to go with his gut and just slap things together, but his gut was an idiot and he ended up with an oddly bent half chair.
Sam stifled a laugh and Cody just took deep breaths while looking at it. He rubbed his eyes slowly before letting out a defeated sigh. "...Hand me the instructions." He said at last.
Sam smirked to herself and was about to hand it over when she noticed the writing on the instructions.
"Cody."
"Yeah?"
"These instructions are written in Chinese."
Cody slowly lifted his head to see for himself. It took a while before he sunk back down, groaning as loudly as he possibly could.
"YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!" He screamed into his hands.

"Kraken, hold onto the shelf and don't let go."
"You really think I will?" KrakenKid scoffed. "So little faith..."
Cody rolled his eyes. "Shut up and just hold onto it. Tightly, it's not very stable."
"Well then stabilize it." KrakenKid commented.
"What do you think I'm trying to do?" Cody snapped back. KrakenKid huffed but kept his grip on the bookshelf, keeping it from falling over as Cody screwed on the bottom.
"You know," KrakenKid said while Cody worked. "This all would have been avoided if you- oh I don't know- listened to me in the first place."
Cody's jaw clenched but didn't respond. KrakenKid took that as the okay to talk more, so he did just that. "Cody, start with the base first, it'll be harder to do it otherwise, but know. The king of Atlantis knows all, and who can disobey him?"
"Kraken?" Cody spoke as level as possible. "Do me a favor and shut up."
"Make me."
"Oh, you know I will. Need I remind you of last Friday?" KrakenKid instant glared and dropped the topic, getting a smirk from Cody. "That's what I thought. Not so tough, are you?"
KrakenKid turned his glare to the ground. "...Still can't believe you threw all of that spaghetti at me."
"It's just food, not rocks." Cody pointed out.
"It had red sauce on it!" KrakenKid exclaimed, exasperated. He shifted in his position, growling under his breath. "You can be a real jerk, you know that?"
Cody paused for a while before looking up. Their gazes met. "Takes one to know one." He whispered back, then went back to work."
KrakenKid puffed but didn't say another word.
However, in what was normally the safety of Cody's room, Blooper and Selena burst into the room. "HEY, WE NEED TO BORROW YOUR SPEAR!" They yelled in unison as they came in.
Both of them jumped, but KrakenKid made the grave mistake of letting go of the shelf. Neither of them had enough time to move before it clattered to the ground, breaking apart.
Cody watched it for a while before putting his hands in his top feathers and screaming in frustration. "THAT TOOK SO LONG!"
Cody dropped to his knees and stared at in horror. KrakenKid came up behind him and patted him on the shoulder. "Feels bad man." He whispered to him.

"Attach part C to part F."
"C to... Wait, that doesn't make sense. F is already attached to H and J!"
"The instructions still say you need to attach part C to F. I don't think they can be wrong."
"Well they are! Reread it, something's wrong with it!"
"KK, I don't think they'd include instructions if they were wrong." Tanith glanced up from the pamphlet, knitting her eyebrows together. "...Would they?" She asked uncertainly. "I've never done this before."
KrakenKid groaned, ripping the pieces of wood part and throwing them next to him. "The instructions always mess with you! It's a paradox!"
Tanith paused. "I don't think you know what paradox means."
KrakenKid groaned and started taking deep breaths. "I do I just... Got frustrated and used it randomly. Start from the beginning." He said, picking up his hammer again and reaching for the bowl of nails.
Tanith nodded before looking over. "Okay, first make sure you get a hammer and unpack the-"
KrakenKid chuckled to himself. "Not that far back, Tanith. Skip to when they start talking about attaching stuff."
"Okay, thaaaat makes more sense." Tanith nodded, then began to read it off. KrakenKid followed along, seeing that he had most of it right, but soon was right back to where he was before. "Attach part C to part F."
KrakenKid blinked, staring at the board that already had two more long pieces of wood on each of its ends. "...How? Is there a footnote?"
"Umm..." Tanith hummed, checking it again but shook her head. "Nope."
KrakenKid squinted at the pieces, trying to determine how it worked. "I don't get it."
"Welcome to every day of my world. Just attach it."
"But... How? It doesn't make sense. These instructions set us up for failure and they still want more from us? How does it attach? THIS IS BULLCRAP!" KrakenKid screamed and pounded the floor, not caring how it hurt.
Tanith jumped but glanced down at the paper again before carefully take the C labeled wood piece and lining it in the middle of the F one, making it branch out like the others. KrakenKid stared at it for a long time before letting his back flop on the empty floor behind him.
"Oh.... It meant in the middle of it..." KrakenKid covered his face and sighed deeply. "I need coffee."
"Didn't you already drink like two cups today?"
"Clearly wasn't enough." He answered, getting up now. Tanith mirrored his movements. "Come on, I think we have some juices in the fridge if you want it. Or whipped cream, whatever works."
They descended into CrankyCrab's restaurant area and quickly ordered two drinks. Tanith ended up asking for the same as KrakenKid and in seconds, they both had it.
KrakenKid chugged it down immediately while Tanith stirred it around with a small spoon. She glanced and snickered as he finished it almost as quickly as he got it. "This is really important to you, huh?"
KrakenKid nodded slowly but firmly. "Oh yeah. Can't exactly put half my effort into Darrel's birthday gift but..." He sighed and banged his head against the table. "Why did it have to be something so complicated? I could have just gotten him a bunch of money, a card and called it good but nooooooo. I had to go big and tried to make him a new chair... I'm doomed."
Tanith looked him up and down before nudging him lightly. "No you're not! Come on, we still have hours until he gets back from whatever CannibalCrab distracted him with! You got this! I know you do! Besides, it's the thought that counts and Darrel will love it!"
KrakenKid hesitated before getting up. Tanith tries to sip the coffee but gagged and sputtered. "You gonna drink that?" Tanith quickly shook her head no, giving KrakenKid the green light on chugging it down.
They returned to the chair making, and this time, KrakenKid was determined to make it. He followed the instructions as best he could and eventually make something that looked like a chair.
"Now," he took in a breath. "For the final test."
KrakenKid slowly sat down on the chair, tensing, but when nothing happened, he relaxed. As soon as he did, the chair fell apart from under him. He let out a small yelp and soon found himself on the floor again.
Tanith peeked down at him. "You okay?"
KrakenKid nodded slowly and laid back. "I'm just going to buy him a swivel chair that's already made." He decided.
"Probably should have done that from the start." Tanith nodded.

I did a thing.
I'll honestly probably do more because this was weirdly fun? Originally this was going to have like fifty ships and then it took too long so take this instead and I'll give more later.
Also I'm really tired so this is going to have terrible editing...
Anyways, I hope this was entertaining! Be sure to comment what you thought, and goodbye!
